I'm a photograher and go to the Davis Mountains on a regular basis. We love staying at the Hampton Inn. Great hotel all around with a very good breakfast, clean and spacious rooms. The staff was very friendly.
We booked this for our family of 5. It is an absolutely huge and luxurious room. Probably the nicest hotel we've ever stayed at, though the breakfast bar was out of a few things.
I don't usually do reviews on hotels BUT one of the employees at this Hampton compelled (through her actions and kindness) me to. We called a few days ago and spoke with Jennifer, we needed several rooms for family members reserved due to a unfortunate event that occurred to our niece. Not only did she work with us to hold the rooms but insured we got the accommodations everyone needed. To top it off, she was sympathetic to our situation and gave us a really good deal. Once we arrived, check in for everyone went great, all the rooms she held for us were there and everyone was happy. Before we left, my wife went and met with Jennifer to thank her. She says, "she is one of the nicest women I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with". We visit Alpine frequently and we will never stay anywhere else. The Hampton (and Jennifer) have earned our loyalty. Highly recommended!
This hotel was amazing! We chose it because my usual option was not available. The primary reason we have not stayed here before is that it's at the opposite end of town, but it is worth the 2 minute drive. It is so clean, so well kept. Beautifully decorated. It feels like home instead of a hotel. They definitely care about their property. Staff were great. Breakfast was good. We just grabbed a few things to run out, but I appreciated my sausage and boiled eggs. Everything looked good. There's some specific things for pets, as well. So they are pet friendly!
Ok, I know it’s a Hampton inn, but the people make it! There is usually some sort of greeting snack (beverages, cookies) upon arrival Friday nights. The manager, Jeremy, remembers me on my monthly visits and the lady that dies breakfast always goes out of her way for everyone.
What an incredible place! We would definitely stay here again. 2 reasons it got a 4 and not 5 was because someone can easily watch though the front door if you dont cover it with a blanket. And you must get your room key at the holland hotel which is close, but still up the street.
The lobby on site is open 24 hours with a code so you can still get ice and coffee without going too far 🙂
The room was very clean and cozy! The bed was soooooo comfortable and the water for the tub got very hot and filled the tub quickly.
There was a cute court yard to sit in but it was cold during our visit so we didnt get pictures
MIGUEL at the Holland Hotel was incredible! He told us all about the area and was very friendly and professional. If he wasnt sure he made sure to double check so we were properly informed. 10/10 service!
Very friendly young lady at reception who told me a lot about the area. It’s a very cool spot but I got a room adjacent to an ice making machine which kept working overnight causing a lot of noise. I would still very much recommend but ask for a room that’s not next to the lobby.
Very rustic, but needs deep cleaning. The floors were covered with debris and bugs. The bathtub also had not been cleaned. The television did not connect to satellite and there was no internet. The mattress was lumpy and the bedding old. Housekeeping did clean the floors after we asked and we were offered a room in a sister hotel. We will not stay here again and do not recommend it at all.
When I learned that the Maverick is owned & operated by the historic Holland Hotel in Alpine I thought I could book with confidence. However, the presentation on the Maverick’s website is pretty misleading, and a far cry from the reality of the place. It’s too bad, because the Maverick has the potential to be a really great, renovated mid-century motor court. But it ain’t there yet. It’s “under renovation” all right. Really the grounds and the buildings are pretty dilapidated, in real need of fresh stucco and paint. And couldn’t someone bother to do even some light landscaping? There is no staff on site after a certain time. The woman at the front desk at the Holland, where Maverick guests have to stop to check in, told me if I needed help while there to call 911! Ha ha… unreal. Meanwhile they insisted on copying my DL and creating a guest “file” on me before giving me a key to my room, and threatened me with hefty fines if I smoked or failed to register my dog. Oh yeah, and half of the Maverick is currently occupied by US military. Most of those guys were low key and polite, however. Anyway the Maverick really shouldn’t be charging the rates they do until they finish their renovations. And their website should warn potential guests of the condition. I can’t recommend this place in its current condition.
We stayed in a king/queen suite and the room was VERY spacious, cute and comfortable. It was very clean and staff were helpful, even getting us a rollaway bed. The pool was great. Not huge, but the kids loved jumping in the deep end. We were able to park near our room so loading/unloading the car was easy. Definitely would stay here again!
