Reviews for hotels with in-room Jacuzzi in Washington D.C.
I stayed the weekend of May 20-21st 2023 and I was pleasantly surprised to received an upgrade to my room from the 5th floor to the 8th floor.
The view of the waterfront was absolutely beautiful and calming but the service was outstanding as I was able to dine in for breakfast during my stay. The breakfast was AMAZING and I was so impressed to have been accommodated with a microwave when asked.
My concierge guy was AMAZING and well as the servers and greeters in the dining area. The only complaint would be not having a huge menu selection for dinner as I dined outside in the garden area.
The Spa was absolutely EXCEPTIONAL and very calming and the staff was very friendly and professional. I really enjoyed my masseuse Arlene who was such a JOY!
But overall, I had such an AWESOME time and I will be coming back! ☺️
** UPDATE ** The response below is a bad email address. I have now changed from a 2 star review to 1 star.
The location was very convenient for our trip. However, that's where everything stopped. I had put on our room that we were going to check in early and that if I had to pay extra I would because we needed to be ready and leave the hotel by 1pm. The front desk lady kept insisting that check in was at 4 and there wasn't anything she could do. After getting management to intervene were able to get a room. However, while we were waiting we had ordered 3 Cesar salads, we had not received them yet so when our room was ready we had them send them up. It took over 40 minutes for our salads to get delivered to our room. My girlfriends and I went out and came back and felt like ordering from the late night menu, called.... no answer.... called again.... no answer... then I call the front desk and they take my order. Room service said it would be ready by certain time, it was 15 minutes after that. So we tried to give it the benefit of the doubt because it was late but then! The next morning the SAME THING happened. Called... no answer....called.... no answer... then we call the front desk, they call no answer, and then they said they'll have someone call us back. 5 minutes later someone called us back. Then they said it would be ready again by a certain time and this time it was 15 minutes after the promised time. The room was subpar, the view was amazing though. The cleanliness just wasn't where I thought it would have been. This hotel was extremely expensive for the experience we had and cleanliness. I would rather stay at a Marriott for a cheaper price. It's also 3 days later and they've charged my card but have not sent me a receipt for the stay.....
Pros:
- rooms were clean and tastefully furnished
- very comfy bed and linens
- great location walking distance to the National mall
- attentive staff
Cons:
- the breakfast was truly inedible. Honestly an abomination for a supposedly luxury hotel. 3 star continental breakfast at best. Not even espresso was included, no veggies or salmon, just basic scrambled eggs and frozen “egg bites” and sausages and some oatmeal…
- no espresso at a luxury hotel is crazy. No coffee maker in the room - have to go to the lobby for drip coffee. I ordered a double espresso to my room and the bill came out to $13.
- amenities in the room were also lacking for a spa hotel. The diptyque shampoo products were nice but the place lacked basic vanity kits, face cream, toothbrush, hairbrush, etc, that you usually get at a hotel in this price range
All in all it was a comfortable stay but fell far short of expectations based on the price range, most likely the new management hasn’t had an opportunity to fully staff the kitchen, hopefully this will improve over time
We did afternoon tea here and the service and staff were amazing. Our daughter had the best time. The staff were kind, friendly, and attentive. The food and tea were incredible in variety and flavor. Will definitely come back.
The first night we arrived, we were checked into a room which had a very noisy furnace and refrigerator. Our family couldn't sleep at all, and they would turn on at different times, making loud noises. We checked in around 1 am, so we toughed it out through the night.
The next morning, we notified of the hotel staff about the situation before we headed out for the day. They said they would send an engineer to take a look. When we returned, they only looked at the refrigerator, and it wasn't clear whether they had done anything. They said they would send another person to the room to look at the furnace. 15 minutes later, a gentleman came, and he just told us that's the way they all sound. WOW! If that's true, then nobody is getting any sleep at this hotel! Fortunately, another person came, and this gentleman said that it is abnormal, and that they would switch our rooms. It shouldn't have taken so much effort.
On day 2, when the housekeeping staff came, we were still in our room, so we asked them to come back. When we were leaving for the day, we told the front desk that they can send someone to clean our room now. When we returned 10 hours later, our room was not cleaned.
The room itself was ok, but it lacked hot water and a coffee machine.
Note that the hotel also charges $25 per night "amenities fee".
Overall, we were disappointed at this hotel and would not return or stay at other Viceroy hotels in the future.
I recommend The Viceroy in the highest possible terms.
Customer Service: EXCELLENT 5-Stars ++. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE was professional, accommodating. Viceroy, don't change your staff EVER. From the doorman and valets to the front desk reception staff (at ALL hours), the folks who work the little breakfast shop, the bartenders and restaurant employees and the cleaning staff we received top notch service.
Rooms- this is where improvements can be made. Here are the highlights:
*pillows are TRASH, just truly awful
*bed/mattress was just OK
*$14.99 for the good Internet?! You're already charging a resort fee. Like just stop.
*Most irksome WHERE ARE YOUR FULL LENGTH MIRRORS, Viceroy??? People staying in your hotel are there for business or pleasure and NEED to see themselves from head to toe rather than using the elevator mirrors for a first real look at their appearance.
Fix these things and you'll have a gem on your hands as the service is fantastic and its location is excellent.
