Mattoon Hot Tub Hotels: Quick Guide

Quick reference for booking a Jacuzzi suite in Mattoon and the surrounding area, Illinois

Best Time to Visit

  • Fall (September-October): A comfortable season with autumn foliage and cooler temperatures across central Illinois. Eastern Illinois University events in nearby Charleston create periodic hotel demand. Good availability and moderate pricing at most properties.
  • Spring (April-May): Mild weather and blooming landscapes. University graduation ceremonies at Eastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign can affect availability on specific weekends. A pleasant time for exploring the small towns of east-central Illinois.
  • Summer (June-August): Warm and humid, with temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Coles County Fair and various community festivals draw local visitors. Hotels serve a mix of leisure travelers and business visitors. Moderate pricing and good availability.
  • Winter (November-March): Cold with snow and temperatures in the 20s and 30s. The quietest season for tourism. Hotels offer their lowest pricing. In-room Jacuzzis are especially appealing during Midwest winters. Interstate highway travelers passing through on I-57 and I-70 make up a significant share of winter hotel guests.

If you are road-tripping between Chicago, St. Louis, or Indianapolis, this corridor offers reliable and affordable Jacuzzi suite options. Important Booking Tips for Mattoon

  • Confirm the exact room type: Jacuzzi and hot tub rooms are specific upgrade categories at these hotels. Look for "Jacuzzi Suite," "Whirlpool Room," or "Hot Tub Suite" when booking. At Country Inn, La Quinta, and Holiday Inn Express properties, not every room includes a private tub.
  • Interstate crossroads positioning: Effingham sits at the junction of I-57 (Chicago to Memphis) and I-70 (Indianapolis to St. Louis), making it one of the busiest overnight stop corridors in the Midwest. Four properties in Effingham are rated 9.0/10 or higher, offering strong competition and value. Mattoon is about 35 miles north on I-57 and serves a smaller but equally well-rated market.
  • University events: Eastern Illinois University in Charleston (near Mattoon) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (near Savoy) both drive periodic hotel demand during homecoming, parents' weekends, and graduation ceremonies. Check university calendars before booking fall and spring weekends.
  • Decatur as a day trip base: Decatur is about 45 miles west of Mattoon on I-72, with access to Lake Decatur, the Scovill Zoo, and Millikin University. Country Inn and Suites Decatur and Ramada Limited Decatur serve this market. If your trip centers on Decatur attractions, staying there avoids the drive from Mattoon or Effingham.
  • Pet-friendly picks: Quality Inn and Suites Mattoon, Baymont by Wyndham Tuscola, Quality Inn Effingham, La Quinta Effingham, Holiday Inn Express and Suites Effingham, Holiday Inn Express Tuscola, and Ramada Limited Decatur all accept pets. Confirm fees and size limits before booking.
  • Free breakfast included: Country Inn and Suites Decatur, Comfort Suites Mattoon, Quality Inn and Suites Mattoon, Baymont Tuscola, Quality Inn Effingham, Best Western Paradise Inn Savoy, and Holiday Inn Express Tuscola all include free breakfast. A standard amenity across this highway corridor market.

Nice front desk staff but the hallway smelled strongly from marijuana. They kindly moved us to a new room, but then the new room smelled musty and like mildew. We sadly had to switch hotels.

Honestly everything was better than expected. Bed was super comfortable, breakfast was good, shower was hot and had high pressure, and the staff was friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Booked on booking.com and it went off without a hitch.

The customer service was very nice, I had an accident on the property of the hotel. My Nephew who traveled with me who is 2 years old ran off, I ran to get him because the hotel is by an Express way. The ground was unlevel and I tripped hitting the pavement. I scratched up my face, bruised my knees and bruised my right hand. I ended up at quick care. I didn't break anything. The doctor gave me a brace for my hand. The young man at the front desk was very helpful assisting me and the baby.i had a room of the 2nd floor, they switched my room due to my injuries so I wouldn't have to climb the stairs. He helped cleaned my wombs and gave me a bottle of water and some ibuprofen. I appreciate their kindness. I never saw or spoke to a manager about my accident. I am still sore and bruised. I wish it was more people in the world like that young man at the front desk. I hope the hotel will accommodate my fall and take care of my bill with urgent care. It was a bad fall.

Elevator has been out of service for over a year! Clearly they do not care to fix it and there has been no effort to notify anyone who books through a 3rd party. They will also try to put you on the 3rd floor. What a great surprise after a long day of traveling. The high rating is tempting, but I would book elsewhere unless you travel light and don’t mind stairs.

My son and I stayed and we're very happy. The indoor pool was clean and refreshing. Pool towels were provided. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of choices. Everything was nice and clean. Their prices are affordable. And most of all we felt very safe. I would stay again, as well as recommend! 5 stars we were impressed!
I hope everyone reads this prior to making reservations. I made reservations for two rooms two months prior to arrival date. I asked for a handicap room, made it clear that my son-in-law was legally blind and had no limbs no prosthetics and at that time I was told that I would have a first floor handicap room because the elevator was not working and it had not been working for, approximately seven months . On my way to the hotel, I received a phone call from India the front desk clerk stating that she could not accommodate my needs because they were overbooked. I explained to her that I made the reservations in advance, and that was ridiculous. She said it was on first come first serve basis and that’s the way it is! She stated that I would have to search around to find another hotel. She was extremely rude. India does not belong in this position.! How do you make a reservation months ahead of time with a confirmation number then receive a call on your way to the hotel to say, they don’t have a room for you . especially for a handicap person. They need to get general manager involved and have this girl retrained !

Pet friendly, great private entrance with grass nearby to walk the dog. Safe area, well-lit. Close to McDonald's, Walmart, Dunkin, and various shopping and restaurants. The room had tile floors throughout, hard on the feet but perfect for pets. The room was dated, but who cares? The towel peacock on the bed at arrival made me smile and feel like they were really trying. When I travel with my dogs, I don't expect luxury. I'm happy to have a comfortable room with the amenities I need. Tiny fridge, good working air conditioner, (even a tiny microwave i didn't need), clean shower with good water pressure and a decently spacious room for a king. Can't complain. Great value, close to Arthur and to Casey for fun travel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Affordable Comfort with a Touch of Class!”
Suite Dreams Hotel in Mattoon, IL truly surprised me—in the best way. For such a reasonable price, I expected “decent,” but I got so much more. The entire property is clean and well-kept, and the vibe is welcoming from the moment you walk in.

The lounge and atrium-style pool area give it an upscale, relaxing feel without the upscale price tag. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and satisfying, and as a pet-friendly spot, it made traveling with my four-legged friend stress-free.

For the price, it’s an absolute gem. I was genuinely pleased with the whole experience and would gladly stay again. If you’re passing through Mattoon or need a weekend getaway without breaking the bank, I highly recommend Suite Dreams.

I arrived at 8pm on 2/20/25.
Check in was fast and simple.
It was 12 degrees outside and 50 degrees in my room.
Turned the heat on. Luke warm air came out.
The room got to 58 degrees after an hour.
This was not sufficient for sleep.
I was offered another room. I was not confident in this option.
I requested a refund and was told they had to ask "the boss." No details on who I can contact or what would happen next.
I left the motel and went to another. I was willing to lose more money due to the poor quality I encountered.
I have not heard from anyone at the hotel in 3 days regarding a refund or to discuss the issues.
I also found many black stains on the very old mattress, a lamp that was just an exposed bulb, and the floor had many stains. There is also an unpleasant smell that is hard to describe.

You do not need to save $30 bad enough to pick this hotel over others nearby.

For me, my stay was pretty good ☺️. I personally got the chance to meet the owner who talked to us and who is trying to get the place back up and running and is really trying her best. The room was comfy and I was able to sleep comfortably. The only thing would be that the TVs don’t have much variety but you can always watch a movie on your phone. (The photos of the room were taken after my stay but it’s for you to see the room in general).

What started as a one-night stay turned into an unforgettable experience at Suite Dreams. As a 52-year-old traveler with my five-year-old child and young chocolate Lab, I've seen my fair share of hotels. This place, however, stands out in the best way possible.
Despite ongoing renovations, the family-owned nature of Suite Dreams shone through from the moment we arrived. The care, concern, and attentiveness shown to us were truly remarkable. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality in this day and age, but Jeff and his family have mastered the art.
As someone who's skeptical of most hotels, I was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelmingly positive experience we had. It reminded me of those cherished childhood memories of road trips from the UP to Key West, where certain hotels along the way left lasting impressions.
Suite Dreams isn't just a place to rest your head; it's a destination in itself. The owners are dedicated to creating memorable experiences for everyone en route to the Keys from the UP (and vice versa). Their commitment to guest satisfaction is evident in every interaction.
We've stayed at countless places over the years, but we now go out of our way to include at least one full day and night with Mr. Kind and Professional Jeff whenever we're in the area. The fact that they likely have no idea who's leaving this review speaks volumes about their consistent kindness and hospitality.
Whether you're a family with kids, a solo traveler, or even a cyclist with a dog, Suite Dreams will exceed your expectations. It's more than just a hotel; it's a home away from home that creates lasting memories. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this hidden gem for yourself!

Warning !!!! Only gave one star because I had to give at least one . I give a negative thousand stars ... This is the nastiest hotel I have ever stayed at . We had to leave the same night and go to hotel 8 . We had bed bugs biting us andhad to leave our blankets we took in the room behind .This was a complete nightmare. As soon as we finally got into our room after 3 card keys not working there was cockroaches everywhere some dead some alive . We called the non emergency right after leaving because there was an old man named John at the front desk that ask my teenage son to hang out and go back to a"special" room ?. We was completely creeped out .. This man also offered my underage son a shot . The non emergency said they are already under investigation and took the report . I don't see this place being open much longer .. DONT STAY HERE...I even feel sorry for all the tweakers hanging out around there living outs the hotel ..

**A Gem in the Heart of the Midwest**

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My stay at this hidden gem in the Midwest was nothing short of exceptional. Picture this: a stormy day, weary from biking across the country with my faithful companion, I stumbled upon this quaint inn. Despite ongoing renovations, the warmth and dedication of the staff shone through.

It turns out, this isn't just any establishment—it's a labor of love for a young family fulfilling their dream. The familial atmosphere extended to every interaction; the staff, who were family themselves, were not only attentive but genuinely interested in ensuring every guest felt at home.

The rooms were charming and comfortable, perfect for unwinding after a long day's journey. And don't even get me started on the delightful cocktail lounge—a perfect spot to mingle and unwind.

What sets this place apart is its soul—a blend of boutique charm and genuine care you'd expect from a passionate family-run business. I left feeling not just satisfied but truly proud to have experienced such hospitality.

To the owners and their wonderful family, thank you for creating a haven in the heart of the Midwest. I have no doubt many more will cherish the experience just as I have.

BEWARE!!! (I only put 5 stars so that my posting would appear) the man working at the front counter is a convicted felon for multiple felony offenses of fraud, theft and financial institution crimes. Be very careful when using a debit or credit card. On two different occasions after staying at this location, my cards have been compromised. After speaking to Capital One they informed me that they had multiple fraudulent charges from this business on other customer's accounts as well.

Disclaimer: Some hotels offer hot tubs only in specific room types — always select a room that clearly lists a jetted tub, hot tub, or jacuzzi when booking. Note: "Jacuzzi" on TubHotels.com is a general term for any upscale jetted or whirlpool bathtub, not specifically a Jacuzzi® brand product. We advise guests to confirm the exact tub type with the booking provider.
