Horrible sleep. If you want sleep go somewhere else.
We stayed here on two different days over a week and a half to and from our “vacation spot” visiting family. The rooms are hot hot hot and dry dry dry! I sleep cold to top it off and still couldn’t sleep! The temperature control had heat, fan, or dry settings only. The windows open but because our room faced the loud highway we couldn’t sleep with it open. The windows are like paper thin and the wind woke me and my family up at 3am! We have a 1 year old who couldn’t sleep because of it. And of course this happened when the room finally got cool enough to sleep.
I’m 5’7 and the shower head was placed low on the wall for someone of the height of 5’5 or shorter. How the heck do any of the tall men shower in there? I’m thankful the water was warm.
The pros of this place. It was clean which was great. And well taken care of. Breakfast was good. Service was really good. They have a pool we didn’t get to try out but it looked amazing. And allowing pets to stay is wonderful.
We soooo wanted to like this place. But the dry heat in this room was ridiculous. Cleanliness and Sleeping conditions should be the highest priorities and they missed the mark on half of it. If this place could install a humidifier, help sound proof the exterior walls somehow, and help air circulation for a quicker cool off that would make this place so much better.
Here's what you want to know: the hotel is great. It's far enough off the highway you can't hear it. It's pretty quiet. It's clean. The staff is great. The beds are comfortable. The shower is hot and the pressure is good. Free breakfast is also, good.
Other things to consider: if you're over 6' tall, the shower might be a bit of an issue. And the hotel is older. Could do with some new paint, carpet, fixtures, etc. The tile/grout in our bathroom was cracked/missing in parts. These issues are cosmetic and do not detract from the overall quality of the hotel. I'd definitely stay again if we happen to be in Amarillo!
Some of the staff was friendly but others not so much. Breakfast has a hard cut off at 9:30, so if you are close to that time expect them to be putting up all the breakfast items while you are getting food. Once you go into the room you can tell that they are dated and in need of a refresh. Pricing was reasonable but I did expect it to be a little nicer given all the positive reviews. Not sure if I would stay here again.
House keeping worker Yunue provided excellent service with a smile and her service and dedication is one of the reasons why I recommend this hotel. She made us feel that we were back in our own home in Florida United States. As for her during your next visit! Thank you for serving Veterans like my self with kindness. Highly recommend all US veterans to come and stay here, thank you Yunue. Recommend by American Armed Forces Travel for all military personnel and retired members.
Mostly the hotel was great. The people were friendly and helpful. Parking was great, the price was right, and everything was clean, including the room itself and the tub-shower was good. My only real complaint was the bed. It was an old, cheap, hard spring bed and felt every spring in it. It was even hard to get into because of the steal frame in the mattress.
Definitely not the worst hotel stay of my life, but it was very unpleasant. Rooms dirty, carpets seem to be dirty napkins, and bathroom in slight disrepair (rusty bathtub). They make sure to remind you every chance they get that breakfast is dine in only, so don't even think about taking a yogurt cup. Breakfast is also not complimentary, so make sure you know your price before booking. The breakfast is not good. I understand they can't control this next part, but we also had upstairs neighbors who were sprinting in their room around 130 am. No major complaints, this just should be considered a 2 or 1 star hotel.
I give this hotel 3 stars for poor housekeeping. We arrived around 8pm and stayed with no pets. Front desk was courteous and checked us in quickly. Our room was tidied but not truely clean. This was evident by black dog hair scattered across and inside the pillow cases, the sheets of both beds were stained and had long black pet hair with scabs dried to the sheets. Also the towels in the bathroom were folded, but held make up stains from recent use. It seemed as if all linens were still used from the previous tenant. We called to the front desk who brought up spare sheets. Upon stripping the bed with the front desk manager, urine and blood stains were revealed on the mattress topper. The front desk manager helped change all linens, but it was obvious that he was unfamiliar with the bed spread bc he brought duvet covers and no spare duvet or comforter. He apologized and stated that it would be addressed on our account. Upon checking out after our stay the new front desk receptionist was uninformed of the issue and merely apologized stating that they "would mention it to housekeeping" before charging us for the full 2 day stay. I have stayed at Holiday Inn several times before. This was the first and potentially last time for this location.
Not sure what limited service means, but this hotel is great for a short term stay. Very clean rooms and the whole hotel smells great. Unfortunately only one trashcan was cleared out during our stay. I like how they have the bigger bottle of products, and it's nice how it's all dove so I don't feel gross n' sticky after showering. The toilet paper isn't great, but whatever. Breakfast is decent, but it runs out fast.
The construction outside made it kind of a pain to get in an out of depending on what direction you were going. Since traffic is so light, it's not the biggest deal to hit a U-Turn and construction is temporary.
I like the location of this hotel, and that they allow pets. They have plenty of pet areas, and they are far enough off the freeway to be quiet. I didn't try breakfast because we left very early. Grounds are clean, and plenty of restaurants are nearby.
My main reason for review is because of the dog room situation. They did well putting us on the bottom floor near the side door which is great for dog bladders. And I get it, when I travel with dogs, I do not expect the best room in the hotel. But our room was... ick. The dog urine smell was overwhelming, and the carpet was literally wet in one spot right in a high traffic area of the room. I HOPE we were put in possibly the last available pet room as we were late arrivals? Because if they knew of this condition and put us in that room anyway, I would be disappointed. Due to the good reviews from other pet travelers, I would try this hotel again, but I would check the room before moving in.
We parked the car right at the hotel entrance. A place designed primarily for travelers. The rooms were a pleasant surprise. They were very clean and comfortable. The room was very large and well-equipped. The bathroom was large and very clean. American-style breakfast.
When we checked in late, there were guests ahead of us who were negotiating and agreeing on the price of the room with a hotel employee. The guests spoke a different language, so the translation took a long time. We were tired from traveling, and it took two minutes to check us in—the employee was slow but nice.
