I traveled to Payson with an EV and I called ahead of time to check to make sure their charging station was working and was told by Kelly that she wasn’t sure if they even had an EV charger and I would need to call back when a manager was present. I called again later and Kelly answered again. She had to ask someone else who said it worked, but it was very slow & recommended charging at Subway instead. I stated that I wanted to stay at the hotel and charge while I slept rather than leave my car offsite and walk back to the hotel (with my 2 young children, in the dark); therefore, knowing if the charger at the hotel was going to work for me was important. Furthermore, I checked online and the charger she referred me to is a Tesla charging station that is not yet compatible with other EVs, so it’s not an option for me. I wanted to know the speed and the adapter type (because she wasnt sure if it could charge a car fully overnight) and she told me that I needed to come to the hotel check it out for myself. I explained that was not an option as I lived 4 hours away and Best Western is the only hotel in Payson that lists availability of an EV charger. She just said, “Yeah sorry, not sure what to tell you." I kindly tried to offer her feedback and state that this is important information for EV owners to know if they are going to stay at your hotel so I recommended getting familiar with it. Without acknowledment of my concern in anyway she said, "Have a nice day" and hung up on me. Her communication with me was rude and would be a great textbook example of terrible customer service. If Best Western is going to advertise they have an EV charger, they should at least be trained to relay basic information about it and in a polite manner. Once I checked into the hotel, I spoke with Laurie who was super kind and professional; she apologized for my experience- but had to inform me that you need to bring your own charging cord to use their “charger”. I would have brought my cord had they informed me. So it seems that they don't really have an EV charger, they just have an outlet you can use and untrained staff. I do not recommend staying here with an EV and they should not be advertising that they have a charging station. Kelly- find a career that does not involve hospitality.
Overpriced- filthy- no bacon- the ladies at the front desk need a raise, the ladies were the only exceptional thing this hotel has to offer/ keep your expectations low, like motel 6 low- bring a tent as a back up plan. Broken tub- $800 for 3 nights was absurd- broken tub- shallow tub- simply make this your last option
We were traveling through Payson for a family camping trip when it ended up storming our entire way from Surprise to Payson. We decided to spend the first night here at the Best Western. Let me just say that a trip that we thought was not going to go well ended up taking a turn for the best! A special thank you to Laura at the front desk! She truly made my son‘s night and our trip a memorable one!
The hotel itself is immaculately clean with spacious rooms and comfy beds! The pool area is perfectly clean as well, and the water is the perfect temperature. When it comes to breakfast in the morning, hands-down, one of the better ones we’ve ever had at a hotel!
The Best Western in Payson surprised me in the best way. It’s easy to assume a chain hotel will feel the same no matter where you are, but this one carries its own warmth thanks to the people who run it. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and give you the sense that someone actually cares about the details. What made the stay memorable, though, was the service.
Stephanie at the front desk sets the tone the moment you arrive. She’s welcoming without being scripted, helpful without rushing, and she manages to make check-in feel less like a transaction and more like being looked after by a friend. That alone makes the place stand out. Then there’s the housekeeping team, a couple whose kindness is evident in both their work and the way they greet you. They move quietly and respectfully, leaving behind rooms that feel fresh and cared for, not just tidied.
Between the staff, the mountain town setting, and the steady reliability of a trusted brand, this Best Western felt like more than just a place to stay. It felt like a stop where people genuinely wanted you to rest well and feel at ease.
Great room at a great price! We enjoyed the quiet patio and the close proximity to family restaurants. The check in and check out staff was friendly. We also appreciated they kept basic supplies in stock for purchase; e.g. toothpaste, ibuprofen, red bull :).
While the room was updated in design, you could tell the construction was older. That said, we found everything to be clean and beautiful! And we loved the KCup machine that was available for a quick coffee or hot chocolate in the morning!
My husband and I needed a quick getaway from regular life. This was perfect. Only 1.5 hours away from Gilbert. We booked the luxury room with the jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Night one was so relaxing. There are tons of food options and grocery stores nearby. The room had a fridge. We checked in quickly, unpacked a bit, grabbed some dinner and brought it back to our room. We relaxed in the jacuzzi tub for a bit and both slept great. We both woke up feeling like this is exactly what we needed. The lobby has a list of places to eat at, shop, etc. The free breakfast was very good. We had biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, hash browns, and eggs. They had a waffle iron, cereals, oatmeal with options to mix in, toast, juices, coffee, milk. We have decided this would be a great place to stay when we come back.
I wanted to like it so much more. The rooms are a little dated, which is not entirely unexpected but the jacuzzi didn't work & the bed was uncomfortable - I woke up with a kink in my neck & was pretty miserable the next day. There was a lot of space & I could see how it might be romantic, but my husband was pretty unimpressed.
Breakfast was a pretty good spread but the clubhouse is confusing to locate. They do have maps to help with that, but we also had to point other patrons in the right direction so it wasn't just us that was confused.
This place is filthy and disgusting! I have dozens of bed bug bites all over me. Read the reviews for yourself. Our mattress cover had urine stains on it. Outdated mattress from probably the 1970s. This place is disgusting and we will never be back. If you like bed bugs, go ahead and stay here.
I booked this room on June 4th for an October 1st check in and was guaranteed a room with direct access to the grassy courtyard. We'll guess what, we just checked in and DID NOT get a room with a direct access to the grass courtyard. But we did get a crappy room with direct access to the parking lot and some rocks. Apparently reservations mean nothing to these people. What a dump! Will never stay here again. **2 days later and this place is still empty. What a joke. I love our view of the dumpster and parking lot. The office has no regards for their customers. Once they have your money, they no longer care.
We stayed here overnight while relocating to the valley. We had a big Uhaul and there is ample space in an adjacent parking lot next to the room to park a moving truck. That is a major plus for me. I love the lodge/cabin vibe. Beds were comfy. Front desk was super sweet and attentive. I met the manager in the morning at check out and she was a lovely and warm person. We did have a pile of laundry left in our room when we entered. But the room was clean and beds were made. It was just an oopsy. The front desk gentleman came over and picked it up for us. I wish the pillows weren’t so small. But that’s not really a complaint, just an observation. We had a queen deluxe room. It was big. Big ceiling fan, Big tv, fridge, microwave. Really nice. The a/c had a hard time getting the room cooled down, and I think that’s because the room is as big as it is. I want to say it took a bit over an hour to cool down enough so we could get some sleep, but I may not be remembering correctly because we were also eating dinner from DoorDash. I had my service dog with me. It is so refreshing to be greeted by staff that are trained in ADA compliance. I answered the 2 questions and all was good. I wish we could have stayed longer!! I’ll def be back when the occasion calls for an overnight (or longer) in Payson. Thanks for the wonderful accommodations!
