Which Hotel Chains Have the Most Hotels with Jacuzzi Rooms?

Wyndham has the most hotels with a jacuzzi room on TubHotels: 799 across its brands, ahead of Choice (772) and Hilton (542). The single brand with the most is Best Western, with 396 hotels. In all, 3,505 of the 7,134 hotels we list belong to a chain. Each hotel counts once, however many jacuzzi rooms it has. The brand also tells you where the tub is likely to sit, what the room is called in the room list and whether the tub is built for two. This study compares the 34 brands with at least 20 hotels each on our lists.

Where each brand puts the tub

AmericInn and Country Inn & Suites put the tub in the bedroom most often, at 96% and 93% of their hotels. Hyatt hotels and Embassy Suites put it in the bathroom most often, at 91% and 85%. Hilton Garden Inn sits in the middle, with 49% in the bedroom and 49% in the bathroom. The table covers the brands with at least 20 hotels on our lists. The shares count only the hotels where a source confirms where the tub sits. A few hotels have the tub on a private balcony or have tub rooms of both kinds, so the two shares do not always add up to 100%.

What the room with the jacuzzi is called

The word for the tub seen most often differs by brand: "whirlpool" at Comfort Inn & Comfort Suites, Quality Inn and Hampton Inn; "jetted" at Best Western, Holiday Inn Express and La Quinta; "jacuzzi" at Days Inn, Super 8 and AmericInn; "spa tub or spa bath" at Motel 6, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Embassy Suites. At Hampton Inn and most Wyndham brands (Days Inn, Super 8, Baymont and others) the room is often a studio suite, and at Embassy Suites it is the Presidential suite (14 of 24 rooms). At 28 of the 31 brands in the table, most of the rooms with a jacuzzi are suites. Room names are not standard, even inside one brand. At the typical brand, the most common single name covers only 9% of its jacuzzi rooms. Besides the Presidential suite at Embassy Suites, the clearest exceptions: 34% of the Motel 6 rooms are a "King Room with Spa Bath"; 28% of the Country Inn & Suites rooms are a "King Suite with Whirlpool". The word for the tub and the type of room are better clues than the exact name. The table covers the 31 brands with at least 20 named jacuzzi rooms on our lists; Howard Johnson, Microtel and Rodeway Inn have fewer.

The names come from the room lists we checked: the hotel's own site or a booking site. The same room can carry a different name on another site, so when you search a room list, try more than one word. At the 9 largest brands, between 70% and 85% of the room names include a king bed, against 56% of all the room names on our lists.

Which chains have tubs for two and heart-shaped tubs

Choice and Radisson hotels have the most tubs for two: 186 of the 249 hotels whose listing describes the tub as built for two (a "2-person whirlpool", a "jacuzzi for two" or similar), 142 at Choice and 44 at Radisson. The highest shares: Country Inn & Suites 32%, Quality Inn 22%, Comfort Inn & Comfort Suites 20% of their hotels. At the big brands it is rare: 0 of 211 Hampton Inn hotels, 1 of 269 Holiday Inn Express hotels and 4 of 396 Best Western hotels. Of the other 63, 57 are independent hotels. Tubs for two also sit in the bedroom more often: 80% of them, against 58% of all tubs.

Heart-shaped tubs are rarer, 55 hotels in all, and 31 of them are at chain hotels: 14 at Wyndham brands, 11 at Choice brands, 5 at Best Western and 1 at Radisson. Days Inn has the most of any single brand, 7. The other 24 are independent hotels.

How much a night costs at each brand

Motel 6, Econo Lodge and Howard Johnson are the least expensive brands with a jacuzzi room, at a median starting price of about $64 a night. Hyatt hotels and Hilton Hotels & Resorts are the most expensive, at $190 and $153. The starting price is the lowest current rate we have for a hotel, and the table shows the median for each brand. The jacuzzi room itself can cost more. UK hotels are left out.

Every brand where the tub is more often in the bathroom has a median above $100, except Wingate ($83). The reverse does not hold: Best Western, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn and Courtyard cost more than $100 and still have the tub in the bedroom more often.

How to find the jacuzzi room when you book

  1. Search the room list for the brand's word for the tub. Search "whirlpool" at Comfort Inn & Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden Inn. Search "jetted" at Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, La Quinta and Holiday Inn. Search "jacuzzi" at Days Inn, Super 8, AmericInn and Wyndham & Wyndham Garden. If nothing comes up, try the other words: whirlpool, jacuzzi, jetted, spa tub and hot tub.
  2. Look at the suites first. At 28 of the 31 brands, most jacuzzi rooms are suites. Look for a studio suite at Hampton Inn, Days Inn, Super 8 and Baymont and the Presidential suite at Embassy Suites. Two other brands use one room name for many of their tub rooms: the "King Room with Spa Bath" at Motel 6 (34% of its tub rooms) and the "King Suite with Whirlpool" at Country Inn & Suites (28% of its tub rooms).
  3. Open the room photos to see where the tub is. At every brand with a median starting price under $100, expect it in the bedroom, except at Wingate. At Fairfield, Wingate, DoubleTree, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Embassy Suites and Hyatt hotels, expect it in the bathroom.
  4. For a tub for two, look for "2-person" or "for two" in the room name. It shows up most at Country Inn & Suites (32% of hotels), Quality Inn (22% of hotels) and Comfort Inn & Comfort Suites (20% of hotels).
  5. No tub room in the list? Check the hotel's own site, then call. The same room can carry a different name, or be missing, on another booking site.

On TubHotels, every hotel card names the jacuzzi room and says where the tub is, when a source confirms it.

How we counted

  • Hotels: every hotel on our lists, each counted once. 3,505 of them belong to a chain, matched to the brand by its name. Names a rule cannot settle are decided by hand.
  • Brands: the 34 brands in the tables cover 3,132 hotels; the other 373 belong to brands with fewer than 20 hotels on our lists, such as Crowne Plaza, Sheraton, Westin, SpringHill Suites and Homewood Suites. Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Marriott Hotels are the hotels that carry only the company's own name; Wyndham & Wyndham Garden also covers the few Wyndham Grand hotels. Timeshare resorts that use a company's name under license (Club Wyndham, Hilton Vacation Club, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Marriott Vacation Club, Hyatt Vacation Club) count under that company.
  • Where the tub sits: from the room photos and the room descriptions behind each card. A hotel counts only when a source confirms it.
  • Room names: as the hotel's site or a booking site lists them, for every hotel whose card names the room.
  • Tubs for two: hotels whose listing describes the tub as built for two people.
  • Prices: the lowest current rate we have for each hotel, in US dollars, without UK hotels.

We update these figures whenever the hotels on our lists change.
