I enjoy attending spas and will try and visit a different one at least every month or couple of months. Carden Park rates itself at the top of the luxury range and their prices are high end, which I don't mind paying for if that is what I will be receiving. However, for the shoddy service, poor quality food, and cold water in spa pools, the price should be half of what they are charging.

However, good quality is not what you get and after booking an afternoon in the spa with an afternoon tea and treatment for me and my friend, I can say I was very disappointed. This was supposed to be a birthday treat for my friend and it was a failure.

The afternoon tea tasted like it was from the freezer in Iceland, no flavour and stodgy little nibbles and you are allowed only one hot drink each. I thought wartime rations were long over ! The outdoor tubs contained warm water and not hot, considering it was a very cold day and the vitality pool had cold water and there was no one inside it all afternoon.

I emailed the Spa Manager (Laura Prigg) the next day about our experience and her response was disappointing. She told me that I should have said something about the food on the day. Then she denied that the outdoor pools were not usable stating that they were within the correct temperature range. To top it off she said that if I would like to return for another visit we would be treated as a VIP guests. When I enquired about this more she said it does not mean that we will be treated to a complimentary visit, but 'we are more than happy to look after you throughout your spa day on return' and offer us a complimentary drink. Considering we both do not consume alcohol this would be a free tea/coffee or a soft drink. Sorry but how can you even call this VIP then and wha kind of remedy is that if we have to book and pay for another spa day to receive a free drink!

Carden Park need to try much harder now and in the future considering there are outdoor spas popping up all over the country and they are no longer in a league of their own. They need to do better than this to live up to their award winning name if they are to survive. They are depending on their 'brand' and they are forgetting that to make the brand stick they need to live up to that label/ name and provide the same level of quality and experience that paying customers are expecting at the price they are being charged. The feeling of the place, the reputation, and the promises they are making, well they are definitely not living up to them. As a customer who has been here before and has had a similar experience in the past but thought to give it another try, I will no longer be loyal to them and will just be heading elsewhere with my money. To be told that I had got it all wrong made me feel like I am being told 'you are a liar' then to top it off I am being given a VIP service which is no more than a free coffee. What kind of apology is that and why apologise if I got it wrong, or did they?

I have already booked our next spa visit at Hoar Cross Hall and for the same price I am receiving a full spa day with a 3 course meal and treatment, and the outdoor spas and facilities are much larger. I suggest you all do the same !!!

I had an amazing stay at Carden Park. The service was truly excellent, and the staff were incredibly polite and attentive. The rooms were modern, clean, and very comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great variety to choose from. The spa was stunning—an absolute highlight of the visit. I highly recommend Carden Park to anyone considering a getaway; it’s a perfect destination for relaxation and indulgence.

Wow 6 of us have stayed over the years - 2 years ago the customer experience was not good - indifference and just poor. This year completely brilliant in every way. Whatever training regime you have shows in every staff member we met - a brilliant experience. The rooms are spotless, beds so comfortable and gorgeous bed linen. Whatever you have done to up your game keep it up !

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Carden Park Spa, and it was an unforgettable experience! The location is absolutely stunning, surrounded by beautiful countryside that instantly puts you at ease. The facilities are top-notch, offering everything you could want for a relaxing day.

I indulged in a 50-minute massage, which was heavenly, and the healthy brunch included was delicious and nourishing. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every detail was perfect. While it’s a bit pricier than other spas I've visited, the overall experience is absolutely worth it. I left feeling rejuvenated and will definitely be returning! Highly recommend!

Amazing location. Very helpful staff.
Enjoyed exploring the grounds and also going on the zip line activity.
I really liked the fact there is art across the main hotel building as well as the front of the hotel, it is a very nice touch.

It was a work trip. But I will be returning with my wife for sure.

Stunning hotel in huge grounds. Room was very spacious and in perfect condition. Top quality shower, toiletries and bedding etc. food was very good, large bar area and fantastic golf facilities. We were there for corporate and the conference facilities first class too. Excellent in every way and would certainly recommend. Worth scanning the QR codes on the sculptures to check the prices if you wanted to buy one 🧐

Would definitely recommend for a golf or spa weekend for a luxury get away.

Fantastic hotel. The staff work so hard, they are extremely under staffed (people don’t want to work, I know this first hand) every single member of staff looked tired but made us feel so welcome and always smiled. We come here regularly, we got married here. It’s our favourite hotel in the world! The food is exceptional, drinks aren’t overly expensive the decor is amazing. Beds are stunning! Whats not to love? The people that are moaning have probably never worked in hospitality or retail. It’s a hard trade, one in which people
Are always looking to moan for some kind of freebie! I’m a miserable hard to please person. This place is FANTASTIC!! Book asap. Don’t be narrow minded and non sympathetic. We live in times where people
Dont want to work!! Special shout out to Rebecca. Wedding coordinator. Phenomenal woman!
Not really sure Oddfellows knows what it wants to be: a boutique hotel or a bar/venue. It feels like the latter.
No parking but a good location for exploring Chester.
No dedicated check-in - this is shared with the bar, which is usually busy with non resident guests.
Our room on the top floor of the old building was so so so dark we could hardly see. Those who wear makeup beware - you can hardly see your face, no exaggeration!
The toilet was in a cupboard, sloping ceiling - if you're 6ft or over and a man, good luck!
Our TV didn't work but was finally fixed on day 2 of our stay - the maintenance man was wonderful (& works very hard).
The room was warm which was a plus.
Room facilities okay but missing any niceties such as no soap dish (sink was a rimless bowl so nowhere for soap was annoying). Ditto nowhere for your toothbrush. Kettle & cups but no saucers. Our fridge was screwed shut.
We felt like students (sadly we're much much older!).

Travelled for business to Chester. I was highly welcomed up in arrival. The restaurant wasn't open, however, but the host highly recommended the Thai restaurant a few metres away from the hotel and it did not disappoint! They even accommodated when I brought my food back to the hotel and gave me cutlery so that I had my takeaway meal in the restaurant area, rather than taking it to my room (which was allowed, but meant my room wouldn't smell of Thai all evening!). Wifi was also available for free using their password. Kudos to the host - seemed he was the only person working from evening until morning, as I didn't see any other staff. Hotel and bar and restaurant are separate, which means it quiet on an evening. You need to go through the Secret Garden to the hotel.

Used to love going to this bar for drinks but the service is awful! We went to the bar to order drinks and there were people in front of us who had been waiting 25 minutes to get served! The bar wasn't even that busy but they had no staff on, one kid who took 15 mins to make two cocktails... One of the other customers asked if there were any staff serving and he was told "you will just need to wait" by the receptionist! Eventually we walked out after 15 mins of not being served. Such a shame, a lovely hotel run by complete amateurs on minimum wage

Lovely location. However, if you decide to choose this place with Virgin media, you will be treated like a sub-par guest. I went here with my partner back in June. Firstly, they wish for you to pay a 50-pound down-payment. Which we respectfully declined. I was woefully disappointed with the quality of our room. The description that had been given never met the standards of the offer we were given and so instead of a lavish room with waterfall showers and fascinatingly wonderful decor, we were treated to a room akin to a premier Inn. They had a mini fridge and a draw of confectionery that was not free so if you decided to eat this confectionery without thinking you would need to pay to replenish consumables, this is very predatory in that the confectionery is there to take, but not without the penalty of payement. The prices for these items were incredibly stupid, and you would be better off going to the shops and buying chocolate and drinks there instead (which we did).
Eventually, after talking to a few staff members, I managed to charm the information out of them, and that to put it bluntly, "Virgin media voucher holders are not required to have a nicer room." Be aware they may not even give you a nice room if you get to stay here as one of their customers. The breakfast was decent but again I could not wash away the bad taste in my mouth that was the fact I had been promised a decent room on the brochure but then given something that makes my bedroom look like a five star hotel room.

All in all, if you wish to stay here, be aware they have good rooms and bad rooms, and if you have a virgin media holiday experience voucher, they very well may put you in a sub par room, because you're nothing more than a quick bit of extra cash to them.

I hope this helps those who wish to stay here all the best from me and happy, safe travels 😊

This was or third time staying here, it is a lovely, quirky hotel. Rooms are a good size and individual. Bar serves a good selection of drinks and service was quick and polite. Good location short walk up into the city centre, an even shorter walk to the river side.

Great location, in the heart of Dorking.
The receptionist was friendly, the room was great, generous tasty treats and drinks and it was all very welcoming. The beds were comfortable with quality bedding. There was a note detailing what bedding it was which was a nice touch. Lots of thoughtful details for a comfortable stay.
It's a shame we only stayed one night!

Note: the parking isn't very large and I believe it is for patrons of the pub/restaurants as well, so it was full when we arrived late in the evening. We parked on the street in front of the hotel until 9:00 as parking restrictions start in the morning (max 1 hour from 8:00).
