Probably one of the smallest and friendliest hotels I've ever stayed at.
Food was outstanding and the lamb shank was one of the best "mains" I've ever eaten. Room we stayed in was quite basic, but had some nice touches of quality finish.
Young blond female staff member who checked us in at reception was superb. Restaurant/waiting staff were also brilliant.

We've been coming with friends for a Christmas treat at Oakhill since it was Alison House and we can't recommend it highly enough. Sharon and the team always give a wonderful warm welcome, the rooms are comfortable and stylish. The food is fabulous. Say no more!

I had the pleasure of staying in the oaks cottage for a weekend getaway in the beautiful rolling hills of Cromford. It was spotlessly clean and had the comfiest bed, a rainfall shower and was very tastefully furnished. After a walk at Black Rock (a must-visit!), kicking our boots off and relaxing in the warm cottage with a cup of tea in the lounge area was a great wind-down before an evening out. The kitchen invites you to cook up a storm, however we opted instead to take a stroll into the friendly town for dinner and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant the following morning. I had the English breakfast with fresh coffee and cold juice which was a perfect start to the day. The staff were so helpful and friendly and it was clear they wanted us to enjoy our stay and were happy to be there themselves. Overall this hotel was the perfect base for our Peak District getaway!

Fantastic stay, the room was perfect and really well furnished. The bed was so comfy and the bathroom was stunning. The service was incredible and I would definitely recommend the breakfast. The hotel is perfectly situated for beautiful walks in every direction and we really enjoyed visiting Cromford. There was literally nothing more we could have asked for from our stay thank you Oakhill.
My husband and I held our wedding at Oakhill this past weekend and we couldn’t have asked for a more magical day. The staff were so incredibly helpful and nothing was too much for them.
The food was incredible!
The rooms were comfortable, spacious and welcoming.
All of our guests fell in love with the place and said they would return.
Thankyou so so much for making our day so special!

Service, food great. Great location. Comfortable bed. Room was very spacious, as was bathroom. Be aware that we were woken up by some external noise which sounded like a dishwasher / washing machine. Seems that others who’ve stayed in the stables have had this. Needs to be resolved.

Really enjoyed spending a nice weekend getaway here for our 2nd anniversary. The hotel is lovely, very quaint with beautiful surrounding grounds. The garden is absolutely beautiful and well cared for and you can tell it makes a sweet venue for a wedding.

All of the staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely made our stay really special. We had a minor issue with being unable to cast to the TV in our room and Jack really went above and beyond to try and help us sort the issue.

Would highly recommend a stay here as the local area made for a lovely weekend full of activities, walks, and hikes, plus we got lucky stumbling into the local illuminations and markets being run at the local Mill at the time.

Stables in Ashbourne is absolutely brilliant. Cannot fault it at all. The parking is great, the room was beautiful and the staff in the Bowling Green pub were absolutely lovely. Highly recommended. We will definitely be returning.
I had a fantastic five-star experience during my stay! The interior was beautifully designed, and the room had everything I needed for a comfortable and relaxing time. The shower was lovely, and I appreciated the complimentary beverages and coffee provided. The private hot tub was a highlight, staying hot all the time, making it perfect for a soak anytime. The large built-in TV, heated bathroom floor, and firm mattress added to the overall comfort. I also loved the big balcony doors, which brought in lots of natural light. Highly recommend this place for a luxurious and relaxing getaway!

Beautiful hotel room. It was very comfortable. The bathroom is well presented and comfortable with quality products to use. Hot tub was gorgeous and they even provide robes and slippers. Mini fridge was a great bonus and the complimentary drinks and fresh milk was really appreciated. Nespresso machine and kettle provided. All really well thought out and beautifully presented for a lovely stay.
Situated in central position. Few minute walk down hill to the town. Because of this you can hear the traffic but only to be expected in such a central location. Would definitely stay again.

The Stables located at the gateway to the Peaks, just a ten-minute drive to the Dovedale Stepping Stones. It's also a short walk to Ashbourne's town centre, making its location ideal.

The private Japanese hot tubs, nestled among lush green plants and offering serene views of the surrounding trees, were the highlight of our stay. Every detail has been considered in the planning of The Stables, and the amenities and facilities were top-notch. We were perfectly comfortable and had everything (and more) that we needed for a weekend away.

On our first night, we stayed in the Junior Suite (Room 2), which features a private Japanese hot tub on the terrace. I struggle with insomnia, but the high-quality emperor beds with luxury Egyptian cotton practically cured me within minutes.
The second night brought us to the Superior Suite (Room 3). This room is huge, with a beautiful window doubling as a lush reading nook, a roll-top bath, and access to the basement spa with a hot tub and sauna.

Both rooms are equally gorgeous and have their bonuses, making it hard to choose a favourite, although the private hot tub might sway me toward one of those rooms!
Both rooms also feature rainfall showers, heated towel rails, a Nespresso coffee machine, complimentary drinks, plush robes & slippers, Bluetooth speakers, a GHD hairdryer (huge bonus), and plenty of space for luggage.

Adding to everything, there's a pub right next door where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They're known for their steaks and their wood-fired pizzas, and both were delicious and very well priced too.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It was probably the nicest staycation we’ve had in the UK, and we're already planning a winter return!

What a fantastic boutique hotel! We recently stayed in room 2, which is a junior suite. Beautifully decorated room, with seemingly every little detail though of. Fresh milk in the fridge was a definite win, and the most delicious fresh shortbread to go along side my hot drink. Lovely toiletries and fluffy towels and robes. The Japanese soaking tub on the balcony was a fantastic way to relax, and there were even smash-proof champagne flutes in the room to go with the chilled bottle of bubbles we brought with us. The food from the pub adjacent, which we had via room service, was hot and fresh and really delicious. The bed was also super comfy. I'd definitely stay here again when in the area.

Wow! This place is absolutely beautiful, we booked the junior suite for our anniversary and it was everything we wanted! They decorated the room for us and the hot tub was nice and warm for our arrival , we ordered the fillet steak each from the bowling green which is literally just around the corner and we went for breakfast there the next day. Food very nice. Really close to Ashbourne town which was lovely to walk around , would definitely recommend!
