All the staff were lovely and very helpful. Room was comfortable and very clean. Nice distance to walk to city centre
Lovely wine-themed hotel quite close to the train station as well as the city gates, with tasteful decor and cozy beds. Well heated, our room suffered from a rather annoying smell (think old school menthol cigarettes) that really affected our sleep. We did not notice it upon arrival and then we came back late from dinner and just wanted to sleep, but if it some kind of perfume I would strongly recommend to ditch it. Good bathroom, although the shower requires an engineering degree to operate. Definitely the highlight was the breakfast, lots of options and delicious. Very nice service. Without the smell it would have been perfect. About 10 minutes walk from the station and 20 from the heart of York.

Myself and my wife stayed for two nights.
The hotel location is great for the center of York it is a very easy and pleasant 15 minute stroll and you are at the shambles.
It is located extremely close to the micklegate entrance to the city walls.
The room was spotless and well equipped.
The staff were extremely attentive and friendly.
Hotel bar and restaurant are very well furnished with great decor as well as clean and well stocked.
I will most definitely use this hotel for any visit we make to York.
It really is a gem and worth far more than the very competitive room rate.
Best hotel we have used in a long time.
Even has lovely grounds and car parking ( extra charge of £15.00) for parking but cheaper than available anywhere else and understandable charge I was happy to pay.
Great stay

A truly unforgettable experience that we will be forever grateful for. We got married here last week and had the day of dreams, from the moment we checked in the night before right up until the day we checked out the staff could not do enough for us. The accommodation is stunning, the food was exceptional and the staff are the best people we could have ever asked for looking after us for such a special moment in our life. I felt sad to leave after the most magical couple of days and have already bugged my husband to book for us to come back again before Christmas! A special thanks to Scott for being like an extended family member looking after us, helping wherever he could and calming the nerves on the big day. Kate for being wonderful on our menu tasting visit and on our wedding day ensuring the day was seamless. Adam, for being so kind, calming, helpful and professional. Michelle in the bistro for being excellent with our daughter and couldn't do enough for us. Ben behind the bar and every other member of staff who was there whilst we were, you were all so wonderful! Our day was better than we could have ever imagined and if we had to do it all over again we would choose Hotel du Vin, York! From the bottom of our hearts we thank you all for being so amazing, so accommodating, so kind and professional. Best wishes and see you soon, Mr & Mrs Elder x

We enjoyed a 3 day stay here at York's Hotel du Vin as a wedding anniversary treat.
My wife had upgraded us to a junior suite which was well worth the extra cost. The room was large and comfortable. Despite looking out over a busy road, traffic noises were almost absent.
Virtually all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our booking included breakfast, so we made full use of it. There was a reasonably good choice but we might have jibbed at the price (£22 per person) if we'd been buying breakfast separately.
In terms of location the hotel is in a reasonably salubrious part of town, a 20 minute walk to the city centre.
The only gripe I have was that car parking was £15 per night, which I feel was usurious.
Otherwise I recommend this hotel.

Our first time staying at Hotel du Vin.
When checking in we were asked if we wanted to pay extra to upgrade the room for our two night stay. We declined and on arrival at our room were very pleasantly surprised to find we had been upgraded to a wonderful suite anyway. The twin side by side showers were amazing!
Plenty of good quality tea/coffee in the room and we used the voucher provided in lieu of housekeeping at the bar.
Breakfast was great with a fantastic choice of quality hot and cold food.
If using the car park avoid parking under the overhanging trees if possible. We had a bonnet full of presents from the birds and had to divert to the nearest car wash on leaving (Tesco not far away).
Definitely recommend and would stay again!

The staff were all lovely and the rooms were well furnished. We had the normal guest room, it was a good size with a big bath tub and separate shower. We had a little sofa and a big 4 poster bed. The only problem was that the walls were quite thin and the staircases are quite noisy. We could even hear someone snoring next door. Nevertheless we were only bothered by this on the first night so it did not disrupt our stay.

It was about a 15 minute walk to the centre of York so very convenient.

The pantry was a great additional feature for our snack cravings - there was popcorn, crisps and ice-cream and cakes would appear in the morning.

The Christmas decorations were tasteful and pretty. The whole hotel had a cozy feeling to it and it was always toasty and warm. The bar has a train that moves round the ceiling about once an hour which was so cute! Overall would definitely recommend staying here 🙂

Stayed here for the Xmas Market and the York Minster. Lovely place to stay, the food is okay but way overpriced and definitely not justified.

Really nice hotel but know if you’re on the ground floor you will hear EVERYTHING the room above you does. The rating would be lower as I booked this stay specifically for relaxation and wasn’t able to relax at all due to noisy upstairs occupants but that isn’t the hotel’s fault necessarily. My spa treatment was even canceled so I think I just had extremely bad luck during this stay 😅 a big positive is the hotel restaurant is fantastic and highly recommended.

The location of this hotel is amazing, easy to walk to all the main sights in York, our car didn't leave the car park the 3 days we were there!.
The staff at the hotel are the greatest asset, nothing was too much trouble at all whilst we were there. They are all attentive, without being overly so, helpful and happy to have a chat and give ideas and suggestions of places to visit.
The spa was delightful, we both had treatments, didn't feel rushed at all, and it felt a truly personal service.
The pantry is a great idea, always replenished and great for snacks/munchies
Breakfast was very good, again all the servers were attentive, the food was very good. We ate one evening in the Pearly Cow and the duck was divine.
The only less positive feedback I would say relates to the room, it was looking a little tired in some places. It was quite warm, we did try the air con but couldn't quite figure out how to use it properly so reverted to old school with the window open. The bathroom was a little tight for two people to be in there at the same time. The only other feedback would be a lack of drawers in the room - we were staying 3 nights so had quite a lot of clothes that we had placed around the room. But most importantly, the bed was super comfortable and we slept well.
We would highly recommend the hotel!

We had the most amazing experience at No.1 Guesthouse York for our intimate wedding celebration! From the moment we booked, Nick was super helpful and supportive, guiding us through the entire process with ease. We hired the private dining room, which we styled with stunning florals from Wild Floral Couture, and enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea. The setting was simply stunning, and the whole day felt magical. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue!
