Champaign Hot Tub Hotels: Quick Guide

Quick reference for booking a Jacuzzi suite in Champaign-Urbana and the surrounding area, Illinois

Best Time to Visit

  • Fall (August-November): The most active season, driven by University of Illinois football, homecoming (typically mid-October), and the start of the academic year. Fighting Illini home football games fill hotels across the metro. Book 4-6 weeks ahead for homecoming and parents' weekends. Autumn foliage along the campus and parks is pleasant through October.
  • Spring (April-May): Graduation at the University of Illinois (mid-May) creates the biggest single-weekend demand spike of the year. Book 6-8 weeks ahead for graduation weekend. Outside of graduation, spring offers mild weather and good availability at moderate pricing.
  • Summer (June-August): Warm and pleasant, with university summer sessions and conferences keeping some hotels busy. The Champaign County Fair and local festivals draw visitors. Good availability and moderate pricing at most properties.
  • Winter (November-March): Cold with snow, temperatures in the 20s and 30s. Fighting Illini basketball season keeps campus-area hotels busy on game weekends. Otherwise the quietest season for tourism, with the lowest pricing. In-room Jacuzzis are especially appealing during Midwest winters.
Booking tip: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is the dominant demand driver for the entire hotel market. Football game weekends (six to seven Saturdays from September through November), homecoming, parents' weekend, and graduation fill hotels across Champaign-Urbana. Check the Fighting Illini athletic schedule and the university academic calendar before booking any fall or spring weekend. Baymont by Wyndham Champaign at $59/night and 9.4/10 is one of the best value Jacuzzi hotel deals in the entire Midwest.

Important Booking Tips for Champaign

  • Confirm the exact room type: Jacuzzi and hot tub rooms are specific upgrade categories. Look for "Jacuzzi Suite," "Whirlpool Room," "Spa King," or "Hot Tub Suite" when booking. At Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn, not every room includes a private tub.
  • Fighting Illini game weekends: University of Illinois football (six to seven Saturdays, September through November) and basketball (November through March) games fill Champaign-Urbana hotels. Homecoming weekend (mid-October) and parents' weekend are the most impactful. Check the athletic schedule before booking any fall weekend.
  • Graduation weekend: University of Illinois graduation (mid-May) is the single largest demand spike of the year for Champaign-Urbana hotels. Every property fills, and pricing rises significantly. Book 6-8 weeks ahead if your visit coincides with graduation.
  • Baymont value highlight: Baymont by Wyndham Champaign at $59/night with a 9.4/10 rating and 697 reviews is one of the strongest Jacuzzi hotel values in the entire Midwest. If budget is a priority, this property offers exceptional quality at an unusually low price point.
  • Pet-friendly picks: Comfort Suites Urbana Champaign, Holiday Inn Champaign, Super 8 Rantoul, Days Inn Farmer City, Baymont Champaign, and Days Inn Champaign/Urbana all accept pets. Confirm fees and size limits before booking.
  • Free breakfast included: Best Western Plus Champaign Urbana Inn, Americas Best Value Inn, Champaign Garden Inn, Hampton Inn Champaign/Urbana, Super 8 Rantoul, Days Inn Farmer City, Comfort Suites Urbana Champaign, Baymont Champaign, and Days Inn Champaign/Urbana all include free breakfast. A standard amenity across the Champaign hotel market.

The rooms and amenities were nice but the staff were not friendly. They were not welcoming. They didn't smile in passing. The only time the manager said anything to me was when he came to my room about noise that was not even coming from my room.

Had a king bed room. Bed was against the wall with the HVAC unit, so limited space to get in and around the bed on that side. The bathroom vanity was too big and to tall for the space so it was hard to get in and out of the bathroom. Great location, pool times were late enough to actually be able to enjoy it after getting settled, and the extended breakfast time was great! Didn't feel rushed and the staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely stay again and recommend.

No room cleaning on long stay. Recently remodeled but horrible job. Weak spots in hallway floor; Huge hump(tripping hazard) in floor by elevators. Nasty carpet stains.
Breakfast was OK. Pool but no hot tub.

It is a good option to stay in CU area.
I didn't stay here, but I booked the room for my friends. They were pleased with the room.
Bed and rooms were cleaned. It was a bit small, but that was fine. They had good sleep.

Expect to pay 60 to 80 bucks more than listed in fees. Room was okay, hardwood flooring. Nearly no lights unless you open a window. Just a lamp and the bathroom lighting. No snacks or drinks during the day. They provide soap. Tub was okay, about average as far as hotels go. I was hoping it'd be a little deeper for the price. Bathroom is a little crowded but looks alright. There was a desk but no chair for it. Large tv in the room with a list of available channels. Doesn't stand out from cheaper options in my opinion.

I booked this stay as I need somewhere to sleep for a work event while in town. I'm not much of a "B&B" person but I absolutely loved this inn. The vibe was so cozy and all of the instructions for check-in/check-out/rules were very easy to understand and clear. Someone did greet me when I arrived, but other than that I did not hear or see much of them the rest of my stay. I loved having access to the tea/coffee and snacks in the "after hours" before my evening event and was greatly surprised by the abundance of food options at breakfast. There was far more options that I have seen offered at some hotels. I stayed in the Champaign room and it was so cozy and chic - I will absolutely be back! My only regret is that it wasn't nice enough outside to sit on the beautiful porch and enjoy the neighborhood.

Debated leaving the review, but I would love to protect the peace for other future visitors. This was a last resort option that I regret. I should have paid more for privacy and courtesy.

As the other reviews state, the food is absolutely the bare minimum of breakfast to-go. Mosquitos on front porch and balcony are unbearable. There are cameras in so many corners and the relaxation part is just not there. The service workers are aggressive with cleaning and in your face even though it’s a “contactless” check-in arrangement. On top of the many rules given to you on paper after you get your room key, there are many other unwritten rules to be in the house.

For example, the common areas must be kept pristine with an employee watching every move through cameras and the same person patrolling whoever opens the front door. I went for a walk after a quick bite of food that I brought in Tupperware and was reprimanded for leaving it on the lunchroom table for 30 minutes. My things were not treated with the respect of a guest. My sunglasses were thrown in the Tupperware and moved out of sight. I was scolded for leaving it there as a guest. I wanted to find a way to wash my things when I got back, but that would have only been possible in a bathroom sink. No access to kitchen. “You can’t leave stuff around. I’m supposed to keep this place clean.” I didn’t expect anyone to clean after me, all I expected was to be comfortable in the bed and breakfast that I paid more for. It really was that bad for me in only a one-night stay. The rooms are so close to one another that you can hear other guests coming and going with doors slamming too easily. I definitely would not recommend or stay again.

What a charming place! The owner was so accommodating (and very chic!). The rooms were beautiful, the decor very thought-out. I wish I stayed for more than one night. I could spend hours relaxing on the porch.

Our stay in the Champaign room was amazing. Clean, comfortable, and cozy! The continental breakfast was incredible with so many choices. The overall house was amazing too. Our only regret was not having enough time to enjoy our stay longer.

This Thanksgiving was my third stay with the Champaign Garden Inn and it’s lovely hosts. Not only
is the property beautiful, but it’s historic nature and decor make it truly unique. The rooms are always spotless and comfortable. Plenty of water, coffee, tea and snacks. Check-in and checkout are a breeze. Also walking distance to local restaurants. Look no further in the area!!
