Can't fault our stay. The room was clean and spacious, staff friendly and facilities at the Inn including games room and complimentary delicious afternoon tea and free access to board games made our stay that little bit extra special. And the location of Stowe - wow we will definitely be back, maybe autumn next time.
The location is great with shopping and several restaurants a stone's throw away. The on-site restaurant, Whip Bar and Grill, is very good. The inn has an indoor and outside hot tub. A great choice for a Stowe visit.
Having stayed at The Green Mountain Inn several times, we again stay over Thanksgiving. From the beginning we have enjoyed the warmth & charm of the Inn. The decor & original flooring in the original building give it the charm. For this stay, Monique was very helpful in taking our reservation. The Front Desk personnel are always welcoming and helpful. Our room, a classic w/2 very comfortable queen beds in the annex was clean, warm, & roomy with a balcony overlooking the pool. The GMI has two excellent restaurants, The 18 Main St Dining Room for breakfasts & afternoon tea ( hot cider) & cookies. The Whip Bar & Grill served excellent meals, at reasonable prices. A shout out to Jane, our waitress in the 18 Main St who was excellent & friendly, and to Ruby & Chelsea in the Whip for excellent service. We never felt like a stranger. Excellent, warm hospitality. On several occasions we had conversations with Donna at the front desk. After a while, one begins to feel like family. We definitely will return. 5 Stars .
The room was nice and everything was great. The one downfall was that we rented a suite for the purpose of a jacuzzi tub. The tub was amazing. But then it was broken and the water wouldn’t drain. We told the desk staff and they said “we will let maintenance know in the morning”. We said that we wanted to use the tub again in the morning and we would be checking out that day. They told us that they would fix it when we were gone and had visibly very little concern. I give the place 4 stars because it is nice, but for the reason of not fixing the tub for us, I would never stay again and I would not recommend it to anyone I know. If I am spending $300+ a night I would expect top quality.
Located right in downtown Stowe, this charming historical hotel is true Vermont in its glory. We went now during peak foliage season and they had hot tub and heated pool year-round, fire pits, and a great bar and Grill located inside the service was a little slow when we went on a Wednesday night because it was packed full of people. But the food was top-notch and surprisingly affordable. I think the best part was the people and just how nice and welcoming everybody is there. And we had a suite with a fireplace and it exceeded our expectations. I’m sure we will be back!
More of a hotel than an Inn. We generally prefer Inns for their family-friendly and cozy atmosphere of smaller establishments. The Green Mountain Inn is a large hotel with many rooms, industrialized processes, and a focus on amenities rather than the small details. We would have been more satisfied if we had paid less for our room, but $270 is far too high for the outdated room we received, especially considering that breakfast is not included (the only Inn in the area we visited that does not offer breakfast, and it was by far the most expensive). The staff is helpful but generally cold and distant, which does not encourage conversation with them. So to conclude, if the room had been less than $200, we would have been satisfied, but for the price we paid, we are really disappointed.
My stay at the Green Mountain Inn was spectacular. The rooms were absolutely beautiful and relaxing with such a cozy atmosphere. The staff were also very kind and welcoming, always offering a warm smile and a hello when we would pass by and going above and beyond for us. The Inn was also central to Stowe which made our stay much easier when it came to doing our activities, such as going walking on designated trails or visiting the cider mill, nothing was too far out of reach. Definitely worth the stay!
Very nice small hotel in the heart of Stowe. The luxury rooms in the annex are cosy and comfortable, despite been some 100 meters away from the main building. Our two night stay was spoiled by the receptionist who did our check-in. She did not mention what the hotel had to offer and we ended up not using the nice facilities, which we discovered already late. She did not care much when I demonstrated surprise about staying outside the main building either. The restaurant is good, but not great. During our stay, some dangerous work was carried out literally by our window, with big trees cut, without any notice or alert from the hotel.
I brought my mom here for breakfast on Friday Nov. 22nd and was really disappointed by the service. The views were great, the food was hot and delicious, the interior felt high end and cozy, but I couldn't truly enjoy my meal because our server was so disinterested, and bordered on rude. There were no smiles or pleasantries, no welcome or introduction. It was not busy, but we didn't receive glasses of water, despite even asking for it and had to search for our server when it was time to request the check. There was no manager on duty, and it is sad that a simple interaction like this can sour an experience of a potentially great location so much that I'll likely never return.
I don't usually write negative reviews unless the experience is truly terrible. The food was excellent though, 5stars for the back of the house!
Also, I wanted to add that I love the cute Stowe placemats!!!
Absolutely superb place to stay! Received a very warm welcome on arrival even though we were early and were able to check in straight away. Beautiful, traditional inn with lovely comfy, clean rooms. Our room overlooked the pool area and it had some seats outside on the balcony. We all loved the pool area. A great place to swim, relax, have a drink or snack in the sunshine. We loved the complimentary cookies, brownies, lemonade and tea at 4pm. The fire pit in the evening was lovely and our children loved having s'mores. We had a breakfast one day and the food was delicious. Service throughout was great and everyone working there seemed happy and enjoying their job. What a great place to stay! Many of the other people we spoke to were repeat customers and no wonder why! Thanks for a great stay.
Got a cabin right near the horses, Our dog loved watching them. We went cross country skiing with the Dog, They have a small ice skating rink, it's nice, small, but it works. we signed up for the horse drawn sleigh ride, but we're a min late and missed it :-/ It was a great time between cross country skiing access to the vast system for snowmobiling, and the staff being accommodating but not in your face. The hotel restaurant was good too!
Lovely New England style inn right on Main Street in Stowe. The location is great for all the shops, trail heads, and other attractions in the area.
Staff and service was fantastic during our stay, worth staying here just for them, but the amenities on property are also great. Excellent experience and would return when in Stowe!
Absolutely beautiful and comfortable rooms. The decor in the rooms is perfect. We had a deluxe room with fireplace and jacuzzi tub and it did not disappoint. The hotel feels more like a comfy home bed and breakfast. The country breakfast each morning was delicious and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. I will be back again
The Luxury room with a King size canopy bed in the main building was lovely and spacious. Laura at reception is delightful, and her genuine desire to want to make guests happy is what made this review grow from a 4 star to a 5 star. The Inn is lucky to have Laura as not all the reception staff will make great efforts to accommodate.
The breakfast was very good.
Where the coffee station is, it would be nice to add hot chocolate and various teas like most hot beverage stations offer rather than just coffee and black tea.
Understaffed so that my room was not cleaned one of the days, fireplaces went unlit in the common areas, and the bar was not open two of the evenings. The worst part of my stay was I had splurged on a deluxe room in the adjacent building, and when I checked in I confirmed that the room was quiet as I’m a light sleeper. In fact, my room was underneath a suite that accommodated 8 people, so one night I heard every squeak in the paper thin floor/ceiling until 3am. I got about 2 hours sleep.
We absolutely loved our stay at Field Guide Lodge! From the start, the check-in and check-out process was fast, easy, and stress-free. The rooms were extremely clean and cozy, and housekeeping did a fantastic job throughout our stay.
The free breakfast felt like a warm, cooked Sunday morning spread and was the perfect way to start each day. We also loved the inviting common areas — there were plenty of board games and card games to enjoy while hanging out, and being able to schedule time in the hot tub was such a great bonus.
The lodge itself is an awesome place to relax and spend time while still being close to everything Stowe has to offer. The live music at night was a great touch, and we really appreciated the polite, thoughtful messages letting us know what was happening and checking in on us.
Overall, this was an incredible stay, and we will absolutely be choosing Field Guide Lodge again for our next trip to Stowe. Highly recommend!
We came in for a fall trip. You cannot beat the location, with all the shops and restaurants that downtown has to offer right down the road and some right out the front door. There is also access to the Cady Hill mountain bike & hiking trails right behind the lodge. The lobby was decorated with typical ski town vibe and was cozy with the fireplace and ample seating. They had plenty of gathering spaces with shareable games. The Apres Only bar & boards was not open during our stay, which was disappointing. They had an outdoor hot tub that was for use by appointment only. It was frustrating to have to make an appointment, but also nice that you had the hot tub to yourself and your own group. Our room was spacious and nice, but we had a lot of little issues that really added up (outlets that didn’t work, poor lighting, bathroom sink didn’t drain properly, poor water pressure in the shower, soap/shampoo dispenser kept falling off the wall, sunken mattress, splintered handrails on the stairs, windows that wouldn’t open). All of these things wouldn’t have been a huge deal if we hadn’t paid $800/night for the cottage suite. But for that cost, we had higher expectations. On a positive note, management offered to move us to another cottage suite and refunded 20% of our total bill. We appreciated this. I hope they take our complaints and suggestions seriously and fix them for the comfort of their future customers. This lodge has a lot of potential.
We were "upgraded" to a different room from the one I chose, and I think the only upgrade was a longer walk to the bathroom. There's zero storage in the room and the bathroom. Our upgrade included a separate room with queen bunk beds so we used the bottom bed to throw things on and keep our toiletries. The walls are super thin, we listened to our neighbors peeing which was super. Breakfast is just okay. The decor is great and the location is perfect. There's a restaurant across the street (The Bench) so we ate there since the hotel restaurant isn't open every night. I wouldn't stay there again
Located about a 10 minute walk away from Main Street but a very good restaurant opposite. Very much a ski themed location but still a good choice in late August. Good bar and also breakfast included. Really liked the shuffleboard on the bar area and also the hot tub. Didn’t try the pool but looked good. As a family of four we booked the Trail Suite, which was huge with three bedrooms and a living space. Oddly only one bathroom though so bear this in mind if requesting. Overly hotel is basically a big. Wooden ski lodge so bags of charm and character but probably not to the taste of those seeking modernity. We very much enjoyed our time here.
