Went to spend the weekend here for my girlfriend’s birthday. Huge snow storm caused it to be a bit difficult knocking the power out and leaving us without heat and in the dark, for our stay. Had one 4 hr log that was complementary and couldn’t burn firewood. Wished we could have received better accommodations. Was told there was nothing they could do since weather was out of their hands. I’m just thankful the branch didn’t fully fall right on top of our car.
Loved the place! The rooms are a little more rustic than my usual taste but the staff made it all 5-star! We stayed here through a huge snow and ice storm and even without electric for a few hours, the room stayed warm and cozy. A young lady named El was on duty and she promptly answered all calls and was all smiles even through very little sleep due to ensuring everyone was taken care of. Close to town and absolutely what we needed. We will be back!
We stayed in cabin #16! We had a very peaceful stay enjoyed the jacuzzi tub both nights with a cozy fireplace and slept very comfortably. We highly recommend renting a cabin here. Very convenient to shopping and restaurants. Pet friendly was a plus. Easy check in with very friendly staff. Thanks again for a pleasant stay We will definitely be back.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was located about a mile from the main strip. This location made it very quiet and peaceful. The bed was comfortable and room also had a fireplace as well as a small stove. It was nice. We would definitely return for another get away.
Jacuzzi in the room overflowed into the shower. They fixed it timely. We were offered a refund/discount but they never called back or reached out, even though they said they get back to us and took both of our phone numbers. We had to call them many times to get a hold of them, only to be told they were not going to discount us. If they never offered it in the first place that would have been fine, but to offer and then ghost was strange. After finally getting back to us after about 10 calls they lied and said they tried to reach out via air bnb app and calling us back, neither of which happened.
We had a great little honeymoon getaway!!! Customer service was great! Room was perfect! Everyone was so friendly and everything was within a short distance. We loved our stay and it was pet friendly as well!! We highly recommend this to anyone who loves the wilderness... Thank you for our great first memories as a married couple!!!! Until next time Riodoso NM
I am blown away by how amazing the Upper Canyon lodges are!! The rooms are gorgeous!! Very, very clean and incredibly well stocked!! They had a toaster, aluminum foil, a great microwave/convection oven, cook top, multiple utensils, dishes and cutlery, everything you need to cook great meals, there are even 2 huge grills outside which we used for steaks, they worked perfectly! And they had a keurig with multiple coffees with it, along with creamer and sugar. You couldn't get better amenities if you tried!! The bed was very comfortable, they provided really nice (huge!) king sized pillows which were very nice and high quality sheets, the quilt was incredible and very oversized which was great for the cool nights. It definitely felt like a luxury bed. The hot tub was incredible! We used them multiple times during our stay, they worked wonderfully! Very nice after long days of exploring. The rooms were so spacious and beautiful and views from our room were great! We stayed upstairs on the end and had beautiful views of deer, elk and wild horses every morning and evening. They provide chairs right outside your door so you can sit and relax and take in the beautiful views. The staff were top notch! Christina and Elle were both so sweet and very kind. We decided to extend our stay and stay a little longer and we were able to communicate via text with them, they made it so easy to set everything up and were very happy to help us. We came to New Mexico on a vacation I've wanted to take for a very long time to see where Billy the Kid lived, rode and fought. Upper Canyon Inn was in the perfect location, close to Lincoln, Fort Stanton (which were both amazing to see!) and White Oaks, I'm so glad we stayed here, they made my dream vacation perfect!! Thank you to everyone at Upper Canyon who made this stay so perfect! We appreciate how much care you put into the rooms, it truly shows!
Cabins are the best. Everything was perfect for my mini vacation stay. From the quiet area, to comfortable bedding, to the indoor jacuzzi. I recommend Cabin 14.
They have bedbugs so be careful we have videos and proof so they cant call us liars they ruined me and my wife’s anniversary years ago we visited during the pandemic and she got bit up by bedbugs overnight we have videos of the bedbugs in their room also 🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
We ended up staying here because the hotel we were supposed to stay at was booked up and LET ME TELL YOU!! I don’t imagine us ever staying anywhere else! The room was very big, clean, comfy, roomy and very well set up. The jacuzzi was the perfect ending after a long day and we felt so comfortable! The customer service was amazing and the owners are so kind. We came to Ruidoso on a business trip for my husband so we had a little back and forth and they were sooo accommodating and kind. We will DEFINITELY be staying here again! Thank you sooo much to the kind owners of this establishment!
Rooms are very nice and cozy. Winter season is nice, it has a functional jacuzzi inside the room which is awesome. Location wise I’ve say it’s very good. It’s only a few minute drive from Main Street. Front desk was helpful and responded quickly. I’ve recommend this place.
I love this place. Good prices, very comfortable accommodations. This is our third stay and I look forward to the next visit. The best part is sitting on the porch drinking coffee and watching the deer in the meadow.
Never did fill shower dispensers after requesting them to be filled. Adirondack chairs on the porch are uncomfortable. You are requested to empty garbage before you leave. The property itself is on a busy corner for traffic, the singing gas meter squeaks continuously.
Would definitely stay here again! The ambiance, environment, and amenities speak for themselves. Lots of room to enjoy time with a significant other and lots of comfort to enjoy a warm evening in. The hostess was friendly and accommodating. City offers many restaurant choices and walking options. Overall, the best value and choice in the area.
Rented the Raven specifically for the jetted tub. When I turned on the jets mold flakes filled the tub. The tub was very unsanitary and not clean properly. Mgt staff would not speak to me directly on the phone. We left early and did not complete our stay.
We stayed in lodge 7, which was recently remodeled. Everything was very clean & the Inn is very close to the downtown area, but still felt tucked away.
Originally, we booked a cabin, but the fireplace was missing a part that wouldn’t arrive for a few more days & the property manager, Robert, called ahead to let us know & kindly accommodated us. He was VERY nice!
It was a blessing in disguise because we decided to switch to a lodge, which had a fireplace AND hot tub that we used every day.
I’ll admit that two of the young ladies at the front desk were a tad rude on two separate occasions (first my husband, then me) for literally no reason. Wish I grabbed their names!
Wi-Fi is weak, so if you’re planning on getting work done, maybe don’t? My cellphone provided better service. But I didn’t mind – I came here to relax.
Shower would also clog, but the drain works if you hold down the lever. Be sure to bring your own shampoo/conditioner.
Perfect location maybe a mile from the heart of activity. Cabin adorable and romantic. Deer in parking lot of cabin. Everything perfect friendly mgmt will stay again!
Highly recommended cabins.Nice place to stay, quiet, dog&deer friendly lol.Deer will walk up to you. Nice grass area, plus a really nice heated gazebo to enjoy your evenings . Definitely a 5 star place !
Lodge number 4 : Clean, dog friendly, no musky smell, close to everything but private, jet whirlpool tub was clean and functional, dog poop station and grass areas were clean. Nice grassy dog area with large trees. Couple deer kept making appearances near the big cabin. Cute to watch. Pretty major problem IMO was that the lodge room did not have a deadbolt or curtains. They had blinds but you can see in the cracks/sides. They also have you take out your own trash before you leave which I thought was weird. The bed felt like it had a huge crater In the middle and was not comfortable. Still would recommend but maybe try a different cabin. Maybe the other lodges or cabins don’t have the same problems.
The words I would use for this place is Elegant and Cozy. I found this cabin room to be everything my wife and I were looking for. The Jacuzzi was a warm welcome during the cold weather we experienced. The bed was comfy and even though everything was in one room and tightly packed, it was a welcome place to lay our heads after a long day in town. On the other side of things, the heater in the bedroom section was loud and vibrated the wall waking me and my wife up constantly. The space heater and gas fireplace where a nice addition, but the room needed a bit more to make it comfy. We shouldn't have to turn on 3 different heating items to make the room sit at a comfortable temperature.
Overall, its a great place to stay and for the cost, its worth a shot. Apart from the issues we encountered, it would be the best place to stay. Some slight tweaks to the living arrangements would make this place one of the best in town.

Summer months from June to August bring mild mountain temperatures, outdoor activities, and lively events, making it a popular season. Fall offers cooler weather, fewer crowds, and scenic foliage, ideal for a quieter stay. Winter attracts visitors for skiing at Ski Apache and cozy evenings in Jacuzzi suites. Spring is less crowded and more budget-friendly, though weather can be unpredictable. For a balance of good weather, availability, and reasonable rates, late spring and early fall are often the most practical choices.

Budget-friendly options may start around $100 on weekdays or during off-peak seasons. Mid-range hotels typically fall between $150 and $220, offering better amenities and locations near Midtown or scenic areas. Booking early and choosing weekdays can significantly reduce costs while still securing a Jacuzzi suite.
