Amazing casino! All the required services. Amazing fun even with no gambling. Great dining! Great romantic date night in an incredible location with bike trails and hiking in Blackhawk.
TOOK ME OVER 2 HOURS TO CHECK IN!!!!!! Because they charge me wrong on the upgrade!!!!! Worst hotel experience with this guy - Greg - Very rude, unprofessional and feeling he is smart and trying to take advantage on the guest. Not being helpful at all.
They charge me completely wrong on our upgrade, and basically refused to correct their problem! And different front desk gave me completely different number on the upgrades and refused to take any responsibility but force you to pay!
Totally horrible experience overall….
Well, here is the update, when we checked out, they charged me wrong again, totally ignored what they have promised. I even have them printed out when I’m checking in on how much they will charge at the end, and today when we checked out, they charged wrong again!!!!!! As if those two hours at check in is all wasted.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS HORRIBLE HOTEL! They will do everything they could to rip you off.

It was a Great Casino different areas that you could help yourself to Beverages. Very friendly I earned extra money to play at the slots while I was playing. I really liked the whammy slot machine. They could’ve used more waitresses bringing drinks for sure. I only seen one and was held by one the entire time I was there. And at 4 o’clock they have prime rib at one of the restaurants there, which was fantastic. So whether it’s food or gaming that you want to do check it out and the parking was pretty good also.
The casino itself is aesthetically pleasing, and the rooms are of excellent quality. However, I would strongly advise against visiting if your primary interest is table gaming. My experience at the blackjack tables was extremely disappointing. The dealers made an error that almost cost me $200, which I fortunately caught in time. This was just one of the four errors by the dealers last night. Their lack of expertise was evident, and the overall service was severely lacking.
Over the course of eight hours, I was served no more than four drinks, which speaks to the inadequate level of service provided by the waitstaff. Additionally, the dealers admitted that the casino is poorly managed, which was further confirmed by my negative experience. In a particularly troubling instance, I drew six aces in blackjack, but was prevented from splitting them after four - this has never happened to me before, but this was a total buzz kill.
The overall experience was disheartening, and I quickly realized that I would not be returning. While I appreciate the standard canned responses about improving service that usually comes with review responses, what would truly demonstrate a commitment to customer satisfaction is compensating for this negative experience with appropriate offers and chips. As someone who has frequented casinos worldwide, I can confidently say that the table gaming experience at this establishment falls far below acceptable standards, with management and service being particularly poor.
I can't say enough about the spa! What an amazing experience! Not only is it beautiful and serene, but our couples massage was amazing and we enjoyed the other amenities as well. Excellent service! We had great cocktails and a wonderful meal at The Chophouse. Hotel staff was friendly and professional and we appreciated the nice military discount they gave us.
Amazing hotel in the heart of black hawk!!! Spent the day at the spa and it was incredible. The massages themselves were great but you also get four hours to spend at the spa, with a private salt hot tub, three other warm/steam rooms, salt room, and amazing showers! The buffet is incredible with an amazing variety and the food is extremely delicious and high quality! Loved the crab and lobster Sunday brunch.
My cousin received a complimentary room and took us for a girls trip. The casino is beautiful and clean. The machine were tight but gave just enough to keep you going. I didn't see anyone win big. We certainly didn't win. The pool and hot tubs were nice and the views amazing. The brunch buffet was very good. A good time had by all.
Great hotel, room was very nice. Love that you have to have room key to access your hotel floor with elevator. Great casino atmosphere, free drinks while gambling. Pool was nice, hot tubs were crowded and hardly any jets in them. Rooftop patio had great views to sit out and relax. Great location everything is within 15 minutes walking tops. Easy to navigate self parking. Would stay here again.
We did not stay at the resort. We drove in and loved the free parking which was plentiful. We enjoyed the staff and games. Felt very clean and want to come back for more! Service was great however was pretty busy at times and was hard to find someone for drinks. Not to many complaints just a lot of fun. Recommend for a day or two not to mention the easy access to the other parts of the town.
I would rate it 5 stars if the slots weren't so tight. Worst luck I ever had in a casino....EVER. Besides that (which I know, it was not my lucky day) everything is pure perfection. If you're going to gamble, make sure you get a players card, and use it! The rewards are awesome. I received a comp room after playing one night and also as a welcome bonus. Every employee I interacted with was professional, and super friendly, and always had the right answer. The pool, and hot tubs (indoor and outdoor) are on the 23rd floor with awesome views, and opens at 6 am. We were up at 5:30 am ready to go! We were the only 2 people in there for an hour. Just bring your room key card with you always as you need it for the elevators, and to open the doors in the pool area. There are also fire pits outside, a bar in the pool area, and a fitness room. If you are a guest in the hotel all of these amenities are included. This one night stay was everything I could have asked for, and so much more. I am looking forward to my next overnight trip there in a few more weeks.
We spent a few days here for my birthday, and had such a great time. I can’t wait to come back. There’s so much to do in one place, you don’t even have to leave the casino to enjoy yourself. We had a beautiful mountain view from our very CLEAN room, spacious shower with bench. It was quiet, and we couldn’t hear the people in rooms around us. The 24/7 restaurant does pick-up orders if you want to bring food back to your room. We loved the buffet, though I wish they had a different price for people who don’t eat seafood. Free Tesla charging in the garage for guests.
The cons: The drink service in the casino was disappointing. It was my birthday, and in the many many hours we gambled over 2 nights, with money constantly in the machines, we were only approached by a cocktail waitress one time for a single drink each. We tipped well, but didn’t see another waitress the whole night. They also wouldn’t let us use a luggage cart to bring our own luggage up. They kept insisting to use the bell hop. So we had to carry our heavy stuff from the garage to our room, which was a pretty long walk. Lastly, I would’ve loved to have a microwave in the room. I still highly recommend, and can’t wait to return?
We stayed here for my first time in Blackhawk. Loved every minute of it. I'm not much of a gambler, so I can't talk too much about the games. However, the whole place was clean and well kept. Our room was very nice with comfy beds, a great shower, and a gorgeous view. The buffet they had here was expensive, which was expected, and the food there was phenomenal. We also tried a couple of other restaurants here, and they were all excellent with friendly staff. Overall, it was a great experience, and we can't wait to go back.
Edit: I am happy to report that a very professional manager made this unfortunate visit right, leaving us with a much better impression. We understand that things happen sometimes and I appreciate that they took the opportunity to validate our concerns.
Leaving my original review below because I believe honest reviews help businesses improve. This hotel did that.
Such a disappointment. I would not recommend this place for anyone who expects even decent service.
We reported that the room was not in good condition. A problem with the drains in both the sink and shower caused standing water in bother and the smell of strong sewer gas.
Also, we requested that the room be cleaned - both using the light to indicated it was ready, and requesting at the front desk. The room was never cleaned and stocked. We had to request extra towels, because not enough were provided.
On the second time we reported that the room was not cleaned and the drain was not fixed, Heathers solution was to wave the resort fee.
This stay was not worth half of the price we paid for a premium room for three nights.
We are hoping that management will make this right before we leave tomorrow. As it stands, I strongly recommend that visitors try one of the many nearby options. Can’t really be worse.
Nice place, a bit crowded and waiting for turns on games or slots😒...great buffet food and that's about it... parking garage is a circular game from bottom to top and back down😡...valet is full much of the time.😟Policy has changed with children being allowed to the buffet👪... Fa660t in the $200 suit atop the escalator podium exhibited "douche-y/cunty” smug arrogant vibes upon explanation of policy change in front of kids-families🫤Lost our business✌.. Not a big loss for either side.😒 Hello Isle of Capri😉
New thing added they are now charging a resort fee like Vegas $22.13 and $10.00 fee if you talk to someone to book your room on top of Deposit so far they are the only one charging this fee
5/5 Stars - Breathtaking Getaway at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk!
I recently spent two complimentary nights at the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk, courtesy of Penn Play, and had an unforgettable experience!
Nested in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, our room offered stunning views of the surrounding peaks, the gentle Gregory Creek, and the historic city of Black Hawk. Watching the sunrise over the mountains was truly breathtaking.
The outdoor jacuzzi was the perfect spot to soak in the scenery, relax, and rejuvenate under the stars.
I enjoyed playing the slot machines and video poker games that kept me entertained for hours while i got free drinks. The casino offered a wide variety of games, and the atmosphere was electric.
The on-site restaurant served up delicious eats, and I highly recommend the green chile eggs - it hit the spot! The service was top-notch, and the vibe was chill and laid-back.
Black Hawk's rich history added to the charm. Did you know:
- Black Hawk was a major mining town in the 1800s, with gold and silver strikes drawing thousands of prospectors. - The town's historic district features preserved buildings from the 1860s. - Gregory Creek, named after John H. Gregory (discoverer of gold in 1859), flows gently through the city.
Will I return? Absolutely! Can't wait to come back and experience it all again.
Rating: 5/5 Stars
Recommendation: Don't miss this hidden gem in Black Hawk! Book your stay, soak in the natural beauty, and explore the town's fascinating history.
It’s an all right Casino, the poker room is OK. The slots are OK. It’s in a circular layout, which was a little confusing and blocked you off from getting access to your hotel room easily. One of the escalators has broken. People weren’t happy about that. I mean, it was the down escalator. the food did not seem great. We didn’t even try it. The hotel rooms were very nice. Very clean. Everything seemed great about them. Bathrooms are awesome actually. But the strange thing is is I had trouble sleeping there and I couldn’t figure out why.
The good. The rooms are nice. Pillows are plentiful. The bed made for a good nights sleep. The bad. The restaurants are WAY overpriced. The penne pasta chicken dish I had was 35.00 and was worse than anything noodles and company can make. The hotel gym is worn down. Only this place uses duct tape for torn pads. No water in the gym cooler and no towels. The ugly. No maid service. No soap in the room. No working ice machine. Hotel staff said use a different floor. No response for providing soap. Even a motel 6 has soap. The sports book has ZERO, NONE, NADA a cocktail waitress ever. The bartender didn’t show up until noon for college game day. The food is served in Togo containers and is soggy because of it. Not once did anyone bus a table or high top. At $299.00 a night I would expect better. Consumers would do better and shop around and make an informed decision.
We really enjoyed our two night stay at Ameristar Black Hawk. I highly recommend the spa suite. An awesome amount of space and the soaking her tub is perfect. The casino hotel has easy parking. We found all the staff exceptional. The enjoyed the gaming especially the poker room which also had wonderful staff. There are two levels of gaming and a great sports book. Restaurants are open late. Next time I look forward to checking out the spa and the pool.
From the very second we drove up with valet being so helpful and getting luggage to our rooms was great! The check in process was quick and the ladies were extremely nice and helpful to getting our room on the same floor of our son and daughter in law. Very friendly place. When leaving the valet we’re quick to bring our vehicle. Great experience! I would definitely stay there again,
