  1. Choose the Right Time of Year: Minnesota’s seasons each offer unique opportunities for romance. The lush summers are perfect for lakeside picnics and boating adventures, while the snowy winters provide a picturesque backdrop for cozy cabin stays and cross-country skiing. Fall brings spectacular foliage that can be admired on scenic drives, and spring offers the beauty of blooming landscapes.
  2. Select a Specialized Accommodation: Opt for lodgings that cater to couples, such as boutique hotels with luxurious amenities, cabins with private hot tubs, or bed and breakfasts offering gourmet breakfasts. Many places offer romance packages that include extras like champagne, chocolates, or spa services.
  3. Explore the Great Outdoors Together: Whether it’s hiking in the state parks along the North Shore, kayaking on one of the many serene lakes, or simply taking a leisurely walk through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, enjoying nature together can be incredibly romantic.
  4. Enjoy the Local Cuisine: Plan a romantic dinner at one of Minnesota’s fine dining restaurants, many of which offer stunning views or unique settings. Don’t forget to visit some of the state’s wineries or breweries for a tasting session, which can add a fun and relaxed element to your getaway.

  6. Plan a Surprise: Whether it’s booking a surprise couples massage, a hot air balloon ride at sunrise, or a private dinner by the lake, adding an element of surprise can enhance the romantic experience.
  7. Disconnect to Reconnect: Make a conscious effort to unplug from digital devices as much as possible. The less distraction from the outside world, the more you can focus on each other and the beauty around you.
  8. Personalize Your Itinerary: Tailor your activities and outings to reflect your interests as a couple. Whether it’s attending a concert, exploring a museum, or participating in an outdoor adventure, make sure it’s something you both enjoy.

We stayed at this lovely B&B for 3 nights during the 2023 holiday period while visiting family in Red Wing. From the moment we stepped into the Inn, everything was perfect - the owners Deb & Ron were extremely friendly and welcoming, their dogs Buddy & Ally were super cute, and the Inn is absolutely gorgeous. The house was built in the 1800s but Deb and Ron did an absolutely wonderful job to renovate it while keeping the historic touches. I felt we were staying at the set of Gilded Age. The bed was super comfy and relaxing that we were able to get a good night’s sleep every night.Ron made breakfast for us every morning and every day’s breakfast was different but equally delicious. We specifically enjoyed the conversation and the stories about the Inn and their lives. We had such a great time staying at Pratt-Taber Inn and can’t wait to return soon! Thank you Deb & Ron for your hospitality

I can't say enough about this place. I stay here when I'm visiting friends in the area. Deb and Ron have become my friends. The architecture of the house and its history, along with all to do and see in red wing make it a place not to miss. Best damn breakfast I've ever had.

I was blessed with a few nights away from a busy life and parenting for my 40th birthday and chose the Pratt Taber Inn. The hosts Ron and Deb were amazing starting off with picking me up at the train station at 10 pm. The room was quiet, peaceful, and spacious. The breakfasts were great and left you filled for the day. I was able to walk anywhere in town and enjoyed the sites of Red Wing. I highly recommend the Pratt Taber Inn to anyone and am very grateful for Ron and Deb making this experience memorable.

Stayed here for girls weekend and thoroughly enjoyed this B&B. The social hour wine & cheese, and gourmet breakfast both mornings were fabulous. Even catered to food allergies. Coffee and tea available all day. Deb & Ron are great hosts and we so enjoyed hearing stories of their renovation and how they came to own the property. We will definitely be going back. Red Wing is a great area to explore and shop.

Dave and Eve are awesome hosts! Of course the rooms and home was immaculate and Red Wing is a quaint and beautiful location on the River, but the way they welcome you and make you feel like part of the family is the icing on the cake! Breakfast was sooo good and the time they spend sharing the history of the home and surrounding area was quite fascinating.....my wife and I took a short trip to Frontenac State Park for some cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Excellent views of the river bluffs! This was a much needed get-away and we felt refreshed when we left. Thanks again Dave and Eve for the superior hospitality!

What a wonderful place filled with wonderful history of Red Wing. A beautiful and charming place. Dave and Eve were excellent hosts. Three course gourmet breakfasts with baked French toast casserole, egg quiche, Belgian waffles, and other delights (recipes available). Easy waling distance to historic downtown. Dave and Eve also provide great suggestions to area food, attractions, and other historic places. This is definitely our first stop when we return.
If my wife & I could give this place more stars we would. The owners Dave & Eve were such great people & the 3 course breakfast was amazing! We stayed in the Butternet Room & loved relaxing in the library one of the 2 evenings we were here. Both mornings we had such great times with the others that were at the table with us. We are very busy with work, parenting, etc & this was the perfect get away for us. Truly amazing! Thanks Dave & Eve for welcoming us the way you did.

We don’t stay in bed and breakfasts very often. We aren’t really that social and have our normal haunts that we like to go to in Red Wing. But as luck would have it, our normal hotel was booked, so we gave the Candlelight B&B a try.The room we stayed in was spacious and cozy at the same time. We had our own bathroom and the bed was really comfortable. They are located with walking distance of all our favorite locations.Breakfast was amazing! The owners were so attentive. They seemed to know when you needed help and when you just wanted to explore on your own.HIGHLY recommend!

We had a very nice stay over the Labor Weekend. The owners are super hospitable and accommodating. Upon arrival we were presented with assortment of cheeses, snacks and wine. We missed scheduled breakfast but were still offered the meal. The owners had a couple of very nice conversations with us. Rooms are spacious and inviting. The place is in the center of Red Wing but in a quite area. Highly recommend the place!
