Outstanding. Like stepping back 100 years. The staff was outstanding. The rooftop bar is amazing. The location is perfect, so many places to walk to in downtown El Paso. Rooms have been updated.I would just park myself in the garage instead of using the valet. The garage is so close and in and out is easy with the room key, simpler and faster than the valet. My only two comments are the bathrooms have not built in fan and the restaurant service was sometimes confused. But, if staying in San Antonio I hope very much to stay at the Plaza.

Definitely the best Hotel we had on our trip through Texas. WOW. For the price you're getting an excellent stay. The hotel rooms are designed in a way you see very rarely. The whole design in the room, all elements are designed in a way that they work with each other and fit. I've been to lots of hotel, but this is definitely one of the best 4-star hotels i've ever been to.

First off, I want to say thank you for the experience! My wife and I with our daughter had an amazing stay! We were lucky to have gotten an upgraded room while it was our anniversary! They gave us a free bottle of wine to celebrate! I have to say the front desk experience was A+... can't be any better! And the room was for sure something special. The view was great! We did have a dirty wine glass there but that was quickly sorted out. The junior suite is amazing! I highly recommend staying at this hotel! Friendly people and amazing service!

I was extremely disappointed with our stay. The front desk staff at check in was extremely rude, not only to us but to others in the lobby. Checkin was supposed to be at 3 and when we attempted to check in they said our room was not ready and couldn’t give an estimate on when it would be ready, they didn’t offer to check our bags. The rooftop bar was beautiful but the wait was too long, we waited 20 minutes to even have a waitress bring us water and then another 20 minutes for our drinks and 30 minutes for our appetizers that we ordered which both were not edible and we ended up leaving hungry and dissatisfied. As we were leaving we overheard the staff talking about the current wedding that was happening and how it was a disaster and bashing the wedding planner. Something that guest should never hear. Then we went to the downstairs bar and waited 10 minutes before being acknowledged. There was 3 people at the table and the waiter provided 1 menu and only acknowledged my husband. When he returned to get our drink order he only acknowledged my husband again and did not address myself or the other party. When my husband inquired about what type of liquor was in a drink the waiter took the menu out of his hand and said he needed to grab his glasses and would be back in 5 minutes. He never returned. Then we attempted to go to bed and there was very loud club music that kept us up all night! I called the front desk at 1:15am and asked when the music would end, I was informed that the hotel is in litigation with a nearby bar and has been having issues with the noise and was offered earplugs as a solution. This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had and wish we would have been warned about the loud music at check in. This ruined our stay and we had high expectations for a 4 start hotel and they fell way short. And upon check out I informed the front desk of our experience he told me that my account was notated and a manager would be calling me as of today 10/24/23 I have not received a call. This is not a way to treat your guest.Update: I spoke to the manager Jacklyn she called me immediately after posting the review. She was genuinely concerned about our experience and very sweet when we spoke on the phone. She apologized for the experience. We will be giving the property another chance

The good:The hotel and rooms are very well decorated and kept immaculate. The lobby and lounge areas are nice to relax with coffee or a drink. Beds are comfortable and linens were clean. The valet service is well organized and quick. The Ambar restaurant is delicious and convenient. The staff is nice and courteous. The bad:I have to agree with other reviews about the nightclub music level being out of control, they need to do something about that. The staff response to room services is slow, to the point that one day I requested housekeeping and they never did it. The towels need to be replace with larger better quality material. The roof top bar “la perla” was not what it’s made out to be and service was not good. Lastly,There is no pool. With all that,I still recommend the hotel, it’s probably the best in town.

Francisco, the waiter at the Ambler restaurant was the BEST! In a business of customer service, he sets the example of what hospitality needs to look like. The hotel was nice, and I would have given a 5 star review except that the building manager needs to hold the construction/remodeling crews accountable to clean up their mess correctly and not ruin the floors and sink fixtures with drywall/paint. Sloppy construction work drives me nuts. The mariachi band that played 1/12/24 was great! Overall, I would recommend this hotel and stay again.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. King suite was recently renovated, plenty of space for a couple and a teen. Fridge and coffee maker in suite, no microwave.Suite was very clean, and service was great. Asked for a spare pillow and blanket (for pull out bed) and received it with no issue. Housekeeping (like many hotels these days) is only every three days unless you request otherwise. The parking option is valet-only, and it is expensive by the time they add tax, fees, etc, which I would have appreciated having better defined at the time I booked. You may want to research nearby parking garages to see if you can get a better deal.Located on the Riverwalk, ten minute walk to the Alamo.

Stayed with my wife for our anniversary. The staff was horrible! The rooms were not worth the price and when I called to complain about the broken toilet I was told to shut up by Mr Thurston. The front desk had ALREADY moved me and my wife b/C the TV didn't work in our first room, and there was no RIVER VIEW that we paid for. The hotel has no river view. I will never stay here again and have yet to hear from Mr Alex who is the manager. He advised he would look Into our stay and credit our bill. Look at the reviews, the same thing has happened to many people Mr Alex!!! Get your staff and hotel in order.-Lu

The restaurant food and festivities were great! The service for coffee creamers, clogged toilet no AC wasn't so good, lots of waiting the river view room got so warm we had to spend most of the daytime in the living room away from the sun. The design of the hotel has zero sound dampening the elevator sound like wind howling all night the doors opening and closing all night from various floors can all be heard even voices carry from other floors. The doors are wake you up out of your sleep loud as other guest come and go. It's beautiful but for the price, noise, service, paint smell I probably wouldn't do it again. The front desk females who checked us in were awesome to end on a positive note and also sent us some complimentary items for our anniversary to the room on our arrival night.

Hotel Contessa is beautiful and has a lot of potential but there are a few things that will keep us from returning. I don’t think it lived up to its price point, nor should it be called a 4 star resort. Our room had broken tile, moldy caulking, water that never got above warm in the shower, stains all in the carpet and the worst part was our room was extremely damp. No matter how cold we made the room, it was damp everywhere. Our sheets stuck to us. The floor was sticky. They don’t do fitted sheets and there were 3 flat sheets on the bed. Extremely uncomfortable to sleep in having to wrestle with 4 different coverings. I called and asked the front desk and she blamed it on the river. We are from the coast and don’t have this problem. We had very loud neighbors throwing a party and hotel handled accordingly, thankfully. The location is beautiful and the common areas were perfect. Rooms need a lot of work. Lastly- Valet drove my car without care and dumped a bottle of water in my seat, it sat there leaking into my seat all weekend. Not a comfortable ride back home after that. Overall we won’t be coming back
