I don’t ever think I’ve stayed in a more home-like hotel in my entire life. My best friend and I live many states apart and planned a weekend together meeting exactly halfway for each of us. That so happened to be Des Moines, but we wanted to stay somewhere low-key and just have a good time doing whatever the wind blew us to. My friend found this place and wow, reviews don’t do it justice.First of all, if you’re coming from out of state, this is the perfect place because it’s right off the interstate. But yet it’s quiet enough and you don’t notice it. It’s also located near anything and everything you may need while in town. Then you enter the hotel. It is so rustic and welcoming. It’s so well maintained too. The fireplace both outside AND inside, are so much fun just to sit next to and mingle with other guests. We did while we stayed and it really makes the experience. Everyone we met was so friendly - staff included. Speaking of staff, they go above and beyond. Our first face when we got there was Anthony. Just a sweetheart. So laidback and made us feel right at home. Breakfast staff are also so nice. Down to earth. Speaking of breakfast - they cook everything on camping fire-things. Their breakfast was so good for a hotel breakfast! A wide variety of things and something for everyone. And I assure you, if there was something you needed, I have no doubt in my mind they’d try to make it happen for you.The rooms are older but well maintained and clean. The room we had was huge! It was a king room and so much space. The decor was our favorite. The beds were comfortable and afforded us many naps and good nights sleep. We were on the top floor so can’t speak much to the sounds or walls but we didn’t hear any other guests near us all weekend. And I hope people didn’t have to hear us laughing constantly….and loudly, if so, sorry! :)If you’re the type of person expecting state of the art, cutting edge, fancy hotel rooms with staff that feel and act forced to work there, then this place isn’t for you. If you want a place where not only the staff treat you and talk to you like family, but the other guests too, and are down to mingle with anyone and everyone staying there (if you want to) then this most definitely is the place to stay. We had so much fun on our girls trip and the hotel honestly was a huge part of that. We can’t say enough good things about this place. We will be back. And I’m trying to recruit other friends to also come back down sometime too just for a fun getaway.

Immaculately clean room (and bathroom) and very quiet. The bed was comfortable. Super nice people working at the desk and a lovely breakfast attendant. Free breakfast was great. There was everything we needed. Oatmeal, eggs, meat, biscuits, delicious hash browns. Delicious coffee - I chose the light roast. We had fun playing Scrabble by the fireplace (it was lit). Very cozy, comfortable lobby. There is also a fire pit outside. The pool area looked very nice but we didn't have time to use it. Excellent value. We would recommend it and want to come back.

We stayed here for just one night. The service was amazing, the rooms were clean and rustic. I have long hair so I was personally impressed with the full sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner! The breakfast was fresh and the variety was nice. It was quiet and well structured. We will most definitely stay here again!!!

VERY friendly service! VERY clean, quiet rooms with comfy beds! EXCEPTIONAL pool and hot tub!!! Breakfast looked very nice too, with such a cozy space to enjoy it, though we had other breakfast plans and didn't try it. I will definitely return, and will plan to eat breakfast and enjoy the hot tub again!

We just left the wildwood lodge after a couple night stay and I have to say that we were very pleased with our experience. The rooms are older but still well kept and clean. Breakfast every morning and a fire pit in the evenings. The pool was perfect for the kids and plenty of room to carve out a space for our family and be comfortable with the the other guests. Renee at the front desk was top notch with customer service. 10/10 for her! We will be repeat guests.

Cozy cabin atmosphere. Board games and fireplace in the "great room" style lobby. Continental breakfast with many options also in lobby gave it a true family feel. I love that the hotel is close to the trail system. Nice fitness room, pool, and hot tub. We'll be back.

What a wonderful, clean, and cozy place to stay!! Location was nice. Enjoyed the fire pit on a gorgeous summer night. The breakfast menu was great and set up so nice, food nice and hot and plentiful!! Wish we could have stayed longer. Staff was polite and welcoming (even when checking in @ 9:30 at night)!!!! Beds were hard (reason for 4 stars vs 5). But will definitely stay again if in the area.

Very clean, well staffed, friendly atmosphere. When I visited they were replacing the roof so it made getting in a bit challenging. Once I navigated the entry, I found a great room with easy access to local activities. The lobby area is neatly decorated in a camping type decorum. Breakfast was top notch, rivaling many high class catered events. The breakfast burrito station in itself made the stay worthwhile. Definitely a gem on long road trip. Only downside was a slow internet, but when you are here in vacation, who cares!!!

What a great place to relax and the staff are great. Outdoor fire pit, late adult pool hour and an included breakfast that you won't see at your discount chain. Small, local group of hotels that still know what hospitality is. Best BBQ nearby is Smokey Ds.....

For the price, is a good place to stay a night or two. The pool and spa looked nice and that was very clean. The fire going outside was nice to sit by for a few minutes, added to the ambiance. Also has a good location, and easy to get to.We liked the newer shower, jacuzzi in room and the bed was comfortable. Some of the furniture and carpeting in the room was a bit dated, but it was clean. The staff was all genuinely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice and had a good amount options.

We were very pleased with our stay. The room was spacious and very clean. The decorative cabin theme was so unique and inviting. Nice pool and I took advantage of the exercise room. Fire Pit was lit at night and met some really nice people. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the staff was pleasant and very kind. I can't put into words how nice this motel/lodge is. We will be coming back!

The stay at Stoney Creek was both relaxing and romantic. We reserved a whirlpool suite, and even tho the room we wanted was accidentally double booked, they were able to give us an acceptable substitute. We had a couple small issues and they overly compensated by giving us free drinks passes for the hotel bar.The bartender was so kind, so friendly and so helpful! The rooms were clean and stocked with Bath and Body Works Eucalyptus Spearmint soaps and lotion 😍Breakfast was busy, but hot and ready! Would recommend for a great weekend away. #StoneyCreek #StoneyCreekHotel #DesMoines

The staff at the Johnston, IA location are top notch, especially Brittany and Jaime at the front desk! The catering staff was excellent as well. Great food and great service. The beds were comfy and all the little seating areas around the hotel were a nice touch. The pool and hot tub were warm and fun!

First night was promising. the room was nicely cleaned, and i was able to hook up my electronics and such without issue. problems started to occur second night and so on, though. The second night i asked room services if i could get some toilet paper and towels (we had 1/4 of a roll when we first got the room, and only two towels.) after two hours, nothing came. i had to call three more times before they came! and i only got two towels besides the five requested. then, on the third night, i asked if they could clean my room as i was going to be leaving for awhile. i came back to find only our trash cans emptied, and the room NOT cleaned. this was rather upsetting. on the fourth night, we asked to have the room cleaned once more, and guess what? nothing. unenjoyable stay, but hey. the pool was pretty cool. but they kicked us out at 10.

On my first trip to Iowa, the love of my life took me here. It was in this very hotel where we made a lot of good memories. I'm confident that if you're with your partner: you'll leave feeling happy and relaxed. The coffee is amazing, the atmosphere feels like home, and the rooms are heavenly. The hot water here is extremely good, especially from the hot tub.I hope to come back here with my love in the future.

We had a fabulous stay! Check-in and check-out were seamless, the ladies are wonderful and very friendly. The rooms were clean, spacious and nice! We really liked the rustic log cabin hunter feel. We enjoyed breakfast, lots of options, and really liked that it went until 10 a.m. Would absolutely visit again!

Had this a dead centipede waiting under the covers for me. The room I'm in is about as far from the entrance as you can get so maybe it doesn't get used much. Wow is it dirty. The floors are unclean. Under the bed is particularly gross. If the rooms were properly cleaned, it would be alright I suppose, but mine is not. I don't often leave reviews but I'm particularly grossed out by this room.

An incredible gem hidden away in some parking lots.Did not expect to find some rather massive (four story!) Lodge hotel in an AMC parking lotVery clean, AMAZINGLY kind staff, great rooms.Surprising amount of forest space tucked away behind the hotel makes it a very nice location after all.An absolute treat in the middle of the city, definitely worth the visit.

The ladies at the front desk were amazing and very friendly. The rooms were clean and very spacious. We really enjoyed the log cabin rustic feel. A nice change from your basic hotel. They are pet friendly, which is a plus. The bar opens at 4pm and serves pizza and finger foods, which are delicious. Breakfast was great with many options available. Would definitely visit again

Really disappointed in our most recent stay. We have stayed at other locations that were much better taken care of. The pool here was actually slimy, had questionable growth in multiple places and was crumbling in several spots. The first night we were there I requested an extra sheet and pillow for my little one who likes to curl up on the chair (the chair is made of a rough material, not to mention who knows when it was cleaned last). The front desk guy asked me why I needed them when I already had the four that came on the bed. He then said he would have to call his manager and check. The third floor felt like the heat was blasting, especially in the bathroom. Maybe there was a malfunction, I couldn’t get a straight answer. We were pretty miserable. We did ask the second night to change rooms and the second floor felt so much better. Thankfully there was a different person at the front counter that night who was extremely helpful, so that was appreciated, and the reason for any stars received.

Booked this place on a whim, but turned out to be one of the nicest lodge looking places we ever stayed at. We came with our kids and they had a blast swimming in the pool. The pool looked so whimsical and the indoor looks like your swimming somewhere in the wilderness. The neat feature was that it goes outside and you can swim outdoor too. Loved the hot tubas well! Our room was absolutely HUGE, we had a king sized bed and a bunk tha6 was a full with a twin on top plus a fold out couch! As a family of 6, we were super comfortable there. It was very spacious!!! Absolutely beautiful place to stay if you love the lodge feeling, we were pleasantly surprised! Will be back!

Subject: Review of Hotel Employee ConductDear Manager,I am writing to bring to your attention an unsatisfactory experience I had with one of your employees at your hotel. While attempting to contact your hotel, I encountered a staff member named Spencer, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was placed on hold for at least 20 minutes, several times, without being given a chance to speak at all. Additionally, Spencer hung up the phone on me, which I found to be very disrespectful to me as a guest.I understand that managing a hotel can be a demanding task, and you may have had other guests to attend to, but as a customer, I believe that respect and multitasking are essential qualities that any hotel employee should possess. However, I regret to inform you that this was not the case with Spencer. His conduct was unprofessional and unacceptable.Besides, Spencer called me back and demanded to know my name, saying that he had my number. As a guest, this behavior not only felt threatening but also left me feeling uncomfortable and disgruntled. I would like to understand if this was a veiled threat from Spencer? In light of my experience, I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter urgently and provide appropriate action to ensure that this type of behavior does not repeat itself in the future.Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We had a block of rooms for a wedding this last weekend and I cannot say enough good things about them. The staff was fantastic. John helped us out so much and I would tell everyone to stay here. The kids loved the pool and we had a suite that people could come and join us nightly to relax. Thank you so much for helping us with our perfect weekend.

The hotel itself was pretty cute - log cabin themed everything. However, when trying to check in we waited about 10 minutes or so for anyone to even notice we were even standing at the front desk (no bell, etc.). Room keys in hand we headed up to the room, and took the elevator. As it was going up there was a recurring 'ding' every 5-10 seconds and I still have no clue why it was doing that. After getting to the room - the key would not work. We talked to the front desk worker about this and she told us that the room we had was a little funky and "you have to jiggle it" to get the key card to work. We went back up to the room (and after needing further help) found out that 'jiggling' is more of a violent repeated jab of the card in the key card reader - would've been nice to know the first time we went up. The room was nice, not huge but it was cozy and the bed was comfortable with several pillows. Unfortunately, one of the pillows had a bleached (but not removed) red stain on it, we did not use that pillow. The AC/heat was really weird... I don't know if it was an issue with our individual room but it was very warm when we entered the room and I was sweating almost all night (I'm usually cold). Upon waking up the room was pretty chilly, we did not change the temperature settings at all. The walls were pretty thin and I heard the neighbors several times through the night. The bathroom wasn't bad, however the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all attached to the wall to prevent stealing it. I don't know but something doesn't feel quite right about using communal shower products. Check-out was similar to the check-in, waited for awhile to be seen before being helped.Side note - I am trying not to let the loud children affect my review because 'loud children' is not something the hotel staff can fix BUT there are some loud children here and they run through the halls at all hours of the night.

Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your hotel. This web site will compare thousands of hotel sites and usually will have prices much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of the best in the area. I've been coming here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you won't be let down. After a long day of travel we were greeted with a warm and welcoming smile. Despite a hiccup beyond her control, the woman at the front desk was patient, understanding and worked diligently to help us to get checked in. The hotel itself is excellent. Lovely accommodations and a clean room were a welcome respite for us weary travelers. We will make a point to come back here. Highly recommended.

The hotel is not fancy by any means, but it is comfortable. We loved the hot tub and the indoor/outdoor pool. The staff was courteous and helpful. The breakfast was tasty and varied slightly every day. We were in the Rancher's Retreat and loved the fireplace and jacuzzi tub in the room. The convenient location was close to the highway and plenty of restaurants.

-Service animal friendly-Great food and drinks on-site (be sure to say hi to Tim, the bartender, he's awesome)-Great heated pool and hot tub (open till 11PM)-Cozy and comfortable rooms with large fridge and microwaveI was traveling home for the holidays with my dog when all of the roads in southern MN were shut down due to the wind and ice. With the change in plans, I stumbled upon this little gem. Though, only after being turned away at a Wyndham nearby for having a registered service animal (which is illegal). I'm happy I was able to stay at Stoney Creek and the staff were very friendly, despite having to work the day before Christmas Eve and in the sub -20F temperatures, nonetheless.

This was a great place to stay! The location was convenient, right off the interstate, and in a safe area. The rooms were clean, breakfast was hot with many options, and they had an amazing pool area! The overall lodge feel of the hotel was warm and inviting.Only thing I did not like about the room was that they did not have an additional secondary chain/metal bar lock on the door of our room. They did have a deadbolt type lock that is standard in hotel rooms though.

We did a STAYCATION at Stoney Creek. Kids had the a great time. The premier suite was beautiful, spacious, we loved having the full size fridge! The golf theme and decor were very neat. King bed was super comfortable and we had plenty of extra pillows. We were told the pool was heated to 84 deg. Year round however, unfortunately it was much colder than that during our stay.We requested a roll-a-way bed and extra towels/linens. The towels and linens were dropped off, the desk attendant stated yes one was available, she was going to get the roll-a-way bed, then never returned. We had to go down to follow up and all the beds had been taken. The free breakfast was decently good, the staff were super friendly and attentive to refilling items. Only complaint was there were lots of ants around the coffee creamer/coffee bar.Overall- we had a good time. We will try a few other hotels in the area before returning.
