Leesburg is surrounded by wineries and stone walls–a countryside that makes you slow down without meaning to. The town mixes colonial-era streets with cozy cafés and shops tucked inside old brick buildings. And if you’re staying a night or two, there are great hotels with private hot tubs.
Attractions Worth Checking Out
Leesburg may be rooted in history, but its attractions keep things fresh and walkable. Morven Park is part museum, part mansion, and part quiet green space—with trails, gardens, and a grand estate that once housed a Virginia governor. Leesburg Historic Downtown is full of independent shops, restored buildings, and restaurants with patios that stay busy from brunch to sunset. Red Rock Wilderness Overlook Regional Park offers scenic trails with views of the Potomac River, easy enough for beginners, but rewarding at the top.
Where to Eat and Drink
Leesburg has a strong local food scene with restaurants that focus on seasonal ingredients, small-batch drinks, and quiet charm. For a romantic dinner, The Wine Kitchen serves small plates, curated wine pairings, and a rustic-chic space perfect for slowing down. For something casual, Fire Works Pizza has wood-fired pies and craft beer on tap, all in a lively downtown setting. Looking for something simple? South Street Under is a relaxed café with fresh sandwiches, baked goods, and a good cup of coffee.

We got to our room that was 78° and turned on the air while we got unpacked. As we unpacked the kids noticed the air conditioning was pumping out heat despite being on cool. It then turned off and became entirely unresponsive. Also the newly installed tile was shattered (and very sharp!), carpet was pulled up around the heater, drywall was unfinished, paint was peeling, carpet was terribly stained, etc. I’d be embarrassed to be the contractor on this project. The room looked half finished. Their remodel is some new carpet and tile and a rough coat of paint (on the counters and furniture but not on the doors, those are still off white, damaged, and dirty) on some worn rooms from the 2000’s.
The one saving grace during our stay was an incredibly understanding and accommodating woman at the front desk who helped us get settled into another room where at least the AC worked. The service was the highlight of our stay, but I will look for another place to stay when we return to Leesburg.
Comfort Suites Leesburg Va. is actually in a great location, close to highway and interchange, plenty of food options fine dining downtown worth it, carryout and fast food. Outlet mall ( high end) excellent shopping not to mention historical sites.
The owner picked us up at Point of Rocks in the shuttle (standard service). When we got to the hotel he got a hose out so we could wash our bikes. He provided old towels for us to wipe bikes and ourselves off with. He provided us a secure fenced location for us to store our bikes.
When we were leaving to go to dinner he happened to be leaving for the day at the same time, he offered us a ride in his personal vehicle to our restaurant.
Every staff member I encountered was friendly, helpful and efficient.
Our room was not completely done being renovated but it was very clean.
The breakfast area was clean, well stocked and well maintained.
This hotel is a 3 star rated hotel but we experienced 5 star service.
As an aside, this review is being written on Google and not the hotel website (as I would have preferred to do), because we were never sent the customary email to review our experience on the website upon checkout. Just the cherry on top of this nightmare of an experience.

I'm still a little shocked this place is open for business. The outside was filled with work trucks and shuttle busses. Entering we passed a room of painting and construction supplies and when we entered everything was dark. That should have been a flag but the room was prepaid, it was 45 mins until our event and we just wanted to relax.
Ummm. Once the elevator opened on the 3rd floor, we were greeted with unfinished walls, exposed electrical outlets and signs propped up on the floor. After standing in shock for a few minutes we saw the sign explaining that no construction was taking place and the rooms had been completed. Now we know why all the lights were off downstairs.
As we walked the hall looking for our room we noticed every door was dotted with 2 or 3 swipes of spackle. Almost as if a kid was playing prior to demolition. So we found the room - good news the key worked. We walked in to the darkness and I sniffed the musty-Ness. When I questioned aloud, "What's that smell" My kid promply answered , "Sadness". How appropriate was that description. Like we just walked into someone world of depression.
I immediately turned on all the lights and opened the blinds but I couldn't get the darkness out. I'm not sure what "finished" means to the people who wrote the sign but I never realized how amazing hotel art was until there was none. The room was bare, depressing, cold and yet still dirty. Stains on the floor and on the bathroom wall. Can't comment on the shower because we didnt use it. The beds were lumpy and for some reason the pillows were the size of throw pillows with folded over cases. We all had a hard time falling asleep due to the discomfort and overall creepiness of the place.
There was a note in the room about not getting room service for stays less than 3 days but somehow we had knocking on our door and someone yelling 'room service" at 8:30am. We tried to go back to sleep, missed breakfast [the girl at the front said it was 6-9 but I'm not sure I believe there was any]. At 11:02 we got a call that it was time to leave. I thought check out was 12pm, oops. Nothing was said when we arrived about wifi, breakfast hours, check out or housekeeping so I was just going by memory.
They did have a pool as stated but we looked in and noticed dit all over the bottom. My kids wouln't go in despite loving to swim.
I can't believe this place is open and taking people's money. The worst part was that I called for the reservation. I actually spoke to a person who was standing IN the "hotel" and he never mentioned oh btw we're in a renovating type process.
I've always stayed in radisons and tried to support choice hotels since they bought them out but this was about as disappointing as it gets. I have multiple photos that may or may not load because they're dark and hard to see.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff made us feel really welcomed from the start. We also enjoyed walking around the property, it’s so peaceful and scenic. Meals were delicious and convenient, which made the whole stay feel effortless.
What I loved most was just how easy everything felt. As a mom, I’m usually juggling a million details, but here we could just enjoy our time together. My daughter and I made such special memories, and we’ll definitely be back.
Great location, environment, and staff. I did have an issue with my room on the first night. The manager responded quickly and addressed the matter with myself and the staff.
The poolside restaurant did forge their own tip amount on my recipe. I caught this upon checking out when I noticed the price difference. The concierge apologized and removed the false charges immediately after reviewing the physical copy of the actual check.
Advice for any overnight stay: wipe down your room thoroughly, yourself. Bring your own bedding or, at least, thoroughly inspect the sheets before lying in them.
The entire staff at the Lansdowne was so friendly, helpful, and accommodating and our guests all had a lovely stay. The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. We had the breakfast buffet and were pleasantly surprised by the scale of the spread. It's one of the largest breakfast buffet spreads I've seen in the US and the taste was delicious too.
We had the most special weekend at the Lansdowne and we will certainly be back to reminisce and relax! I would highly recommend the Lansdowne for not only a lovely stay with a luxury feel in Virginia (nearby downtown Leesburg is delightful and charming; perfect for a nice stroll, and there are many excellent wineries near the resort for an afternoon well-spent) but also as a stunning wedding venue with great staff, amenities, and food! (bonus points for having the expertise and experience with organizing and hosting South Asian weddings)
One of the highlights of our stay was the pool area. The resort has three different pools, each offering something unique. There’s an adults-only pool for those looking to relax in a quieter setting, and a separate children's pool that’s perfect for the kids to splash around and have fun. It was great to have these options, as it allowed everyone to enjoy their time in the way that suited them best.
I also had the chance to visit the spa, which was a truly amazing experience. I opted for a massage, and it was nothing short of incredible. The spa itself is beautifully designed, offering a serene and luxurious atmosphere that made the experience even more special. The massage was one of the best I’ve had, leaving me feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated.
The resort also has a well-equipped gym, which was great for staying active during our stay. Additionally, there are tennis courts outside, offering another fun way to spend your time. The resort provides a variety of activities, ensuring that there’s always something to do.
If you’re into golfing, Lansdowne Resort is a golfer’s paradise. They have a really nice golf course, complete with golf carts, that’s perfect for spending a day on the green. The course is beautifully maintained and adds another layer of enjoyment for those who love the sport.
The hotel itself is very nice, with spacious and comfortable rooms that made our stay enjoyable. The staff at Lansdowne Resort were fantastic—always friendly, attentive, and ready to help with anything we needed. Their hospitality really added to the overall experience.
Another standout feature of the resort is the variety of dining options available. The different restaurants on-site offer something for everyone, with delicious food and great service. We had a blast trying out the various dining spots, and each meal was a delight.
Overall, Lansdowne Resort is a fantastic destination for a family getaway. It’s big, beautiful, and offers everything you need for a memorable vacation. We had so much fun and left feeling relaxed and happy. I highly recommend Lansdowne Resort to anyone looking for a great place to unwind and enjoy time with loved ones.
The grounds are beautiful and well kept . The pool area has nice cabanas and a food area. Check in was fast and nice.
The clubhouse has a sports bar type dining experience and the food says the same. The staff in all aspects were nice and attentive.
All in all a lovely stay. One must have this experience. The spa packages, hot tub, music in rooms(minus the outrageous fees), the view of the golf course from your room, and the property overall.
