Rapid City Hot Tub Hotels - Quick Guide

Quick reference for booking a Jacuzzi suite in Rapid City, South Dakota and the Black Hills

Best Time to Visit

  • Summer (June–August): Peak season. Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Badlands National Park, and Custer State Park are all fully accessible and at their most visited. Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in early August is the single biggest hotel demand event in the entire region, filling all Black Hills properties for one week. Book 8 to 12 weeks ahead for Sturgis Rally week.
  • Fall (September–October): Excellent shoulder season. Crowds thin after Labor Day. Fall colors in the Black Hills are underrated. Mount Rushmore visits become more manageable. Good availability at most Rapid City properties at lower summer pricing.
  • Spring (April–May): Good value window. Some mountain attractions open in late April. Comfortable temperatures before peak summer. Good availability and lower pricing across all properties.
  • Winter (November–March): Lowest pricing window. Snow activities in the Black Hills including cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails. Many seasonal attractions close but Mount Rushmore is open year-round. Best time for couples to find deals on jacuzzi suites.
Booking tip: The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in early August draws over 400,000 visitors to the Black Hills and fills every hotel within 100 miles of Rapid City for approximately 10 days. It is the single largest demand event in South Dakota. Check Sturgis Rally dates before booking any August stay and book well ahead if your visit coincides.

Important Booking Tips for Rapid City

  • Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (early August): The Sturgis Rally draws over 400,000 visitors to the Black Hills each year and fills every hotel within 100 miles for approximately 10 days. This is the most extreme demand spike of any city in this entire guide series. Book 8 to 12 weeks ahead if your stay falls during Rally week, or plan your visit around it entirely.
  • Mount Rushmore is 16 to 26 miles from Rapid City hotels: All properties in this guide are in Rapid City proper. Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park require a 25 to 45 minute drive from most Rapid City hotels. Factor in driving time when planning your itinerary.
  • Confirm your room type: Not all rooms in these hotels have jacuzzis. Look specifically for "Jacuzzi Suite," "Whirlpool Suite," or "Spa King" when booking to avoid a standard room.
  • Best budget options: Fairfield by Marriott Rapid City ($89/night, 7.6/10) is the most affordable confirmed jacuzzi hotel in the area. Quality Inn Rapid City ($142/night) is the next most affordable with a solid location near downtown.
  • Summer Creek Inn for a Black Hills escape: Summer Creek Inn is set in the rural Black Hills southwest of Rapid City with private whirlpool accommodations, gourmet breakfasts, and fireplaces. It offers a completely different experience from the I-90 corridor hotel strip and is the top choice for couples wanting a romantic mountain getaway rather than a road-trip base hotel.
  • Verify with the hotel: Some travelers report jacuzzi rooms can be substituted at check-in if not confirmed directly with the property at the time of booking.

No meat in breakfast bar 5 of 7 days. Brown crud on bathtub floor. No cable guide. If not for Tyler and Bruce from tech services use of my Roku would have been impossible. Plug would not stay in console plugs between beds. Had to use bathroom plug to charge phone. Stayed in a comfort unit in Palm Bay for years. Smaller complex but alternate link, patty sausage, and bacon. Beautiful facility excellent view. No attention to details. Thought conference center would have been a step up. I was wrong very disappointing!!!

We stayed two nights here while visiting Mt Rushmore and Deadwood. The room was clean and the Breakfast was good with several items to choose from. Staff were friendly and helpful. The common areas of the hotel could use some updating, however, our stay was pleasant.

We had a single night here and I instantly regretted staying anywhere else for my weeks stay here in South Dakota. This hotel is not only worth the money it is exactly what you'd expect from the name. The room was CLEAN and smelled amazing. Hot tub was also clean and smelled fresh. Breakfast was also outstanding for a free breakfast. I can say that next time we stay we will definitely be coming back.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The room stayed nice and cold. The bathroom fan did not work, was covered in mold, and overall disgusting. The air in the hallways felt so stagnant and heavy. The elevators made lots of concerning noises, preferred taking the stairs to the 4th floor instead of risking it on the elevators. Also pretty sure the ice from the ice machine on the first floor was making us sick… maybe mold there too? The location of this hotel is great, close to stores and the highway. Due to the lack of cleanliness I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights 4 days. The rooms are very clean. The cleaning staff is extremely helpful and friendly. We only gave this four stars because the front desk staff was unfriendly, not helpful, disengaged, acted bored and bothered with the exception of Virginia, The reason I know her name is because she actually had a name tag. Also the breakfast. Well it was nice to have a continental breakfast. It was lacking. Overall the rooms are clean. Also, the noise level is slightly higher, probably due to no insulation.

The hotel was great but the reason I'm leaving this 5 star review is solely because of Angela and Shannon, who were working the check in when we arrived. We left interior lights on in one of our cars and another guest alerted them about it. We had already left for dinner but shortly after we sat down, my cell rang and Shannon informed me about the car lights. When I got back to the hotel to thank her I asked how they knew it was our car. They informed us that once notified, they pulled the parking lot cameras to ID us then looked up my contact info. What?!?!? People like this exist??? How wonderful and thoughtful and above and beyond can you get?! They didn't have to do any of that and yet they did. I was so touched I almost cried. To be the recipient of such thoughtfulness blows me away. Thank you, Shannon and Angela. You have restored my faith in the innate goodness of people.

Great hotel! We booked 2 rooms for our family and they were able to put us in conjoining rooms, which was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were very clean, and beds were cozy. Not all rooms have a walk in shower, so if this is a need make sure to confirm! One of our rooms had a tub and one had a walk in (we needed a walk in for one of our family members with us and the pictures looked like they were all walk in).

The pool area was fun for the kids, but beware, the ledge near the stairs is incredibly slick. Use caution if you aren’t sure footed, like my 2 year old who almost entered the pool much quicker than anticipated.

The restaurant next to the hotel was great too, and you get a discount if you bring your hotel key.

This was a great hotel for the price point. Very clean and everything felt pretty new. Staff was friendly and helpful. The pool with the water slide was fun for the kids, and while it did create a little bit of a vortex, but 5 and 3 year old were able to handle it with a small explanation of what to do.

My wife and I stayed here recently for a few days. The rooms are spacious, clean and fairly comfortable (bed is on the hard end of the comfort spectrum). Hotel was fairly quiet. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool was always full of people so it must be fantastic.

Not a huge fan of the breakfast. I hate powdered eggs. So, I ended up eating biscuits and gravy. No meat options? No bagels? And just like most hotels, for some reason they stick the waffle station right in the middle of everything else which makes it difficult to get around the line of people waiting to get a waffle.

The hotel is in a good location with access to I-90, lots of restaurants and shopping so you aren't far from anything. Would definitely stay here again.

Outstanding! The kids loved the water slide at the pool and the hot tubs were on target! Exceptional hot tub temperatures! The overall hotel was excellent and we'd stay again! We didn't have room service, but if needed you just call the front desk and let them know! The location is exceptional with getting onto and off the highway with a gas station across the street! We didn't use the attached restaurant "Porta Vallarta" but it smelled fantastic outdoors and other spoke highly of the quality of the food! Parking was good throughout as we were always able to get a front parking spot! Staff was friendly and accommodating to all our needs! Several carts available for luggage upon arrival with multi families checking in and out at all times! The rooms were clean and recently renovated to make the stay more comfortable! There's numerous options available in this city for other places to stay, but we'll stay here if there's availability! Thank you for treating us so well!

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions — Rapid City

What is the price range for hotels with a hot tub in the room in Rapid City?

Hotels in Rapid City that offer private or jetted tubs (or suites labeled “hot tub / jacuzzi”) typically span a wide price range. On the lower end, you’ll find rooms around  $57 to $90 per night. Mid-tier hotels and suites with more amenities usually fall between  $90 and $135. For higher-end properties, luxury suites, or peak dates, rates can climb above $200 or more. It depends heavily on location, amenities, time of year, and how far in advance you book.

When is the best time to visit Rapid City for a hotel stay with a hot tub in the room?

The most favorable time is during summer (June through August), when weather is warm, skies are clear, and outdoor attractions (Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, Badlands, etc.) are fully accessible. Evening temperatures are also comfortable, making a soak in a hot tub quite pleasant. If you prefer fewer crowds and better rates, the shoulder seasons like May or September are excellent choices: the weather is still decent, and hotel demand dips slightly. Winter is cold and snowier, which can make travel trickier—though it might appeal if you enjoy cozy indoor ambience.
