This is absolutely the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. I don't typically stay at value hotels, but we needed a pet friendly room And it was a last-minute decision. Thankfully, we only stayed here one night and immediately transferred To the holiday Inn in Elgin. Brand new hotel. $30 more per night.

This hotel is located in a nice area of Saint Charles. And the grounds are actually very nice. It is pet friendly, and there is a nice expansive OK area for dogs to run. The problem here is that the rooms are extremely rundown. The hallway is very worn. And the biggest problem is the smell of smoke. Absolutely everything in this hotel reeks of smoke. It absolutely reeks. My head was pounding from the smell of smoke. My asthma started up. The smell is absolutely horrific. I don't know if people are allowed to smoke in the rooms, but they clearly do. They smoke when they are walking their dogs. They smoke in the hallways. Everything absolutely reeks of smoke. I could barely get through the night. When I mentioned it to the desk person the next morning, he acted completely shocked. Like he had never heard that feedback. And he basically "clutched his pearls" asking if I had seen someone smoking in the hallway. Are you kidding me? The place absolutely reeks of smoke. We are in the process of moving out of the US. So we needed a quick stay here as our home had recently sold. And we have a large dog. We had rented the hotel for a couple of weeks, but canceled immediately. So the hotel lost about $1500 in revenue. And the only reason is because it is disgusting and reeks of smoke. Not a great way to run a business.

Checked in and our room was on the second floor. Desk clerk never told us how to get to our room. So we just went up the main stairs from the lobby. Could not find room so went to lobby where clerk said oh yeah you got to go all the way down the first floor to the stairs because all of the second floor is not connected. So had to lug our luggage up and down stairs several times and thru the first floor hallway thru the ongoing construction. Get into room and notice the bathroom door has what looks like a small punch hole. So go back down stairs to show them a picture so we don't get charged for damage. Go down to the pool. The pool was filthy. Shredded pieces of baby pool diaper everywhere. Woman's fake eyelashes on the ground by the pool. Pool was filled with so much grass, hair, dirt and dead bugs. I grabbed their skimmer and worked on cleaning the pool for an hour before I got in. Bottom of pool was dirty and has not been cleaned in a while. Also our keys stopped working the next day and had to get new ones. Turned down the AC in our room to 61 and it never got cold. Beds were flat and hard. No cushion to them. I know I booked a value hotel and not expecting the Ritz Carlton but it was still below standards. Laundry cart sat outside of our room for a whole day. Several rooms set their trash into the hallway where it sat for a day or more. Not happy with what I booked and would not recommend it.

Everything was pretty good for the most part. The front desk staff was pretty nice and my hotel room was really quiet and clean which was wonderful. The only problems that I had come across was when housekeeping was being kinda pushy on cleaning after we had only been there for 2 nights and no cleaning was needed and I repeatedly said no thank you. I also felt like the breakfast included in your stay is very misleading because all they provided was cereal the entire stay, and I was under the impression that they would be cooking. The pool was also not cleaned so unfortunately I did not get in.

First, we arrived early an hour or so before check in and to get in our room early it cost me $30. The room was clean and smelled good. The hallways did stink bad. The staff was great. My granddaughter spilled a Shirley temple and I used a towel to clean up. Upon checking out I received a phone call I was being charged $20 because they were throwing the sheet and towel out. Did they not hear of bleach? I asked for a late check out and again they said it was $30. I have never been to a place where you are a member and they want to charge you for everything. This place is a ridiculous and the worst Quality Inn with all these charges. If I knew this I would have stayed at a better hotel because they try and charge you and you end up paying the same as a nicer hotel, go there

The staff staff at this hotel went over and beyond. They were the most kindest people I have ever met! Only one thing went wrong. I had told an employee about our Jacuzzi suite. The Jacuzzi wasn’t working properly and he did offer to have us switch rooms, but at that point, my husband was already asleep, and I didn’t want to switch rooms. It would have been a hassle. We had already unloaded all of our stuff and again like I said, my husband was asleep already for the evening and I wasn’t going to wake him up to switch rooms. I had told , the front desk gentleman about the situation and all he did was apologize. I explained to him that that was the whole reason why we chose their hotel was for the Jacuzzi and it was disappointing that it didn’t work properly. In my opinion, he should have offered a discount on the room or a free hotel stay next time we’re in town or anything at all, but nothing was said and I was very disappointed.

For what is paid for this hotel it is sadly lacking a couple things. They did a remodeling but in doing so put the sink outside bathroom which is okay except they also have towels out there so you need to take them into bathroom. The tubs are very slippery and while they do have a grab bar it is on wall out of reach especially if your in tub. My biggest gripe is the breakfast. Over the last 3 months me or my daughter have stayed there and each time the food was cold and unappealing. I was in a couple days ago. Bananas so green it was yucky. The potatoes are like reheated every day until gone. The gravy was dried out. Muffins open to the air. We usually grab coffee and go find food. Shouldn't be paying for something you can't eat. And no variety.

Please take a moment and read my review. When it comes to buying anything, staying anywhere, or using a company I will always read reviews prior to making my decision to invest in said company. My family stayed at this location over the weekend and from start to finish our stay was great. When we arrived, the front desk greeted us, was polite, gave complete attention, and check in was very smooth. The lobby was clean and welcoming. Once to the room, we entered to a clean, updated room. Everything was in working order. There was no weird or disgusting smell. The water pressure was great. The added shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and body soap was filled and name brand which smelled great. The bathrooms were mold free. The mirrors were clear of spots. (I clean houses for a living so I pick apart everything). The beds were comfortable, the AC worked great. In the evening we went down to the pool which was heated instead of being broken or freezing cold. Although we didn't swim bc it was close to closing 10pm. We visited the work out room which was well equipped with up to date machines. My son loves working out at hotels. He is 7 but very respectful so I allow him to do it. The mornings they supply a free breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, a omelet, cinnamon rolls, toast, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, pancakes, bagels, i am sure I am missing stuff. A variety of different beverages. The morning food preppers are the sweetest ever. They love talking to the kids and making sure the eating area is clean. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights and will definitely stay here again if we ever come back to this area. The fact that it is so close to basically every store and restaurant is an added bonus. There is an AMC theater right acrossed the street too although I am not sure if it's open or not. 5 ☆ place i promise you that.

My room had a heavy chemical smell and when I asked to move there were no options. I was told that it was a regular cleaning product by maintenance. The front desk staff was always in the back room playing on her phone anytime I walked through. Made me feel like I was bothering her when I had a question. I stayed the entire week for business and by the time I left my throat was raw from the heavy chemical odor. Upon checkout housekeeping confirmed the room was recently "deep" cleaned due to someone with a medical issues staying there previously. The deep clean missed the tub and trash just under the bed. I do not recommend this hotel for business travel. Also no ethernet outlet in my room.

This was one of the nicest Holiday Inns we've been to. We felt welcomed from the moment we stepped through the doors. Darlene at the front desk was so friendly and made us feel like Holiday Inn royalty. The entire facility was so clean and spacious. There was complimentary tea, coffee, and hot cocoa in the lobby when we arrived, and it was stocked and available throughout our stay. The pool was clean and great for a short, relaxing swim. The exercise room had free weights, treadmill, stair master, bike, etc. Comfy beds. The breakfast was also pretty good--biscuits and gravy, cheese omelet, veggie, omelet, potato, pork sausage links, plus continental breakfast stuff. Too many choices to have them all! All in all, it was just a pleasant stay.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Holiday Inn Club Vacations South Beach, Myrtle Beach

Our recent stay at Holiday Inn Club Vacations South Beach was, unfortunately, one of the worst vacation experiences we’ve ever had — and we own a timeshare here.

On Friday, August 1st, we discovered water pouring from the bathroom ceiling — directly from the light fixtures and vent fan. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to reach the front desk via the resort phone, the website number, and our cell phones, we had no choice but to physically run across the resort around 7:30 PM to report the emergency in person.

Even after explaining that water was pouring from the ceiling, it took roughly 40 minutes for maintenance to arrive. They eventually traced the issue to an overflowing toilet tank in the unit above us. By the time they finished working upstairs and cleaning our floor, the water had already soaked deeply into the carpet.

We were told the resort was at full capacity and could not move us to another three-bedroom unit, and that we would be split up if anything else was available. Instead, we were offered a mere $50 resort credit — which felt more like hush money than actual compensation — and told that it was “a great thing” for us.

Over the following days, the mold and mildew smell became unbearable. We experienced nausea and had to leave the room for extended periods, keeping doors and windows open just to breathe comfortably — which made the temperature inside uncomfortable as well. Staff repeatedly sprayed the carpet, but the smell would always return within hours. The carpet remained soaked for the rest of our trip.

Beyond the inconvenience and health concerns, the slow response raised serious safety questions. If this had been a medical emergency — a fall, a stroke — that delay could have been life-threatening.

To make matters worse, when we tried to report our ongoing concerns, we were often met with a dismissive tone, as if we were exaggerating. It wasn’t until a manager visited us on Monday — the first person who showed genuine sympathy — that we felt anyone actually cared. By then, the damage to our vacation was done.

We pay a premium for our timeshare here, but this experience ruined our trip. If you’re considering purchasing, I strongly recommend doing thorough research first — both on the property itself and on how they handle emergencies. Based on our experience, guest safety and comfort are clearly not top priorities here.

After 15 years, Villas A, B, C & D have been remodeled. The new look is clean and crisp. But there are still problems with infrastructure and housekeeping. In the shower, there is about a quarter inch gap between where the door closes and threshold. As a result, the floor gets very wet during a shower. The ice maker barely makes any ice. Tuesday evening didn’t go well either. First, the cable TV went out and was out for the rest of the evening. Then we were doing a load of clothes when the washer stopped spinning, and the clothes were still damp. Maintenance came and replaced the washer dryer unit within two hours. Unfortunately, the brand-new dryer kept throwing the breaker. Luckily, the service man took our damp clothes and dried them, great service! Housekeeping left us with an empty hand soap bottle in the bathroom. It took a call and then a visit to the front desk to have it replaced. We spilled a little water on the floor and when we wiped it up, the paper towel was pretty dirty, like the floor has never been wet mopped. The return air vent grill is full of dust too. As owners, we expected better.

Fun place to take the family. Clean rooms, very roomy. I especially love the screened porch, perfect for coffee, meals, or games. I wish I would have brought my small fan to really enjoy the porch even more. We had heat advisories while we were there. Shuttle to and from the beach, Three pools, and a lazy river. We did the sales pitch and were informed but not pressured.

Had just an okay stay at the Holiday Inn Vacation Club - South Beach at Myrtle. As owners we had high hopes of comfortable accommodations after driving several hours to get here. Unfortunately, on three out the four days we were here our room air conditioning went out , on days when the temps were in the 90s. While they promptly sent a service person on 2 of 3 occasions the air continued to go out in the unit leaving us hot and miserable. Certainly not the experience we were hoping for. To add insult to injury they aggressively tried to lure us into another presentation before we could fully check in, like just let people enjoy what they’ve already purchased before trying to up sell them on something else.

2nd time staying here. We love the options of different pools, each with different atmospheres. Super convenient to Beach can walk or drive depending on how much you need to take. Rooms are nice, service upon check-in was eh. Our rooms were on different floors even though when booked months ago they were to be together. Front desk was not willing to fix their error stating they were full. Being Club members, we proceeded to member services and the error was corrected quickly and our rooms together not on completely different floors. Overall great stay.
