beautiful, quiet resort on the North Shore. Oahu w/out all of the business & touristy-ness of Honolulu.Apparently has been recently remodeled (?) and certainly looks and feels that way. The various activities offered - surf lessons, cowboy luau, night snorkeling, surf w/pups, were all fabulous and well organized.the grounds were immaculate and stunning. kinda like staying at a botanical garden.Stayed in the Bungalows - Gorgeous. Concierge was just fabulous - so helpful and responsive.an amazing stay in an amazing location.

Did not stay at the resort, but at the condo complex within the property. Really beautiful property and the best part was the trail system in either direction which connected the place to other less visited beaches. Attended a wedding here, the lobby area was beautiful, the wedding ceremony was in an awesome location. The food was very good also

This was our last place we decided stay at before we went home to DC… it was beautiful inside and out! We knew it was going to be a high end place with higher prices but we didn’t care about that because we do believe that you pay for what you get… there are a couple of reasons why I had to put in 4 stars… there is a $35 a day resort fee, that’s fine as they mentioned that it covers the activities but then we realized majority of the activities had an additional cost. The most annoying thing was the snorkeling and body boarding stuff… I thought the $35 fee had to at least cover us using that… nope. On top of that we noticed that random folks would come use the beach chairs and umbrellas so it was a task to hunt one down. You would think paying $900 a night they would police the chairs and umbrellas just a little. We have stayed at a lot of nice places and they do a good job making their guest their priority and they don’t have all these hidden little cost (increase the night stays and stop all the little add ons). The food at the restaurants is fire, the cleaning and garden people are the nicest, the views are breath taking and the rooms nice enough (we noticed that there were cracks on the ceilings and walls… the floors are not cleaned well so our feet were always black going to bed… we take off our shoes in the room).

Awesome hotel! Loved the stay, all the TB workers were kind and friendly. Room was always cleaned just right. Pool was so nice! Special thanks to Austin from the Sales department for going above and beyond and making our stay memorable. Great employee, hang onto him- management material for sure! Golf was spectacular, only wish I could have played more!Only complaint was that room services dishes stayed on the floor in the hallway for over 24 hours. If you're going to Oahu, don't stay in Honolulu, go to the North Shore and stay at Turtle Bay.

We stayed at Turtle Bay Resort primarily so I could play golf at the course. I've done a separate review there. The North Shore offers something different to the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. It's definitely worth staying here even though the room rate is expensive. The rooms are well appointed. There are a few bits that could be improved like the shower head and some finishing. We also had issues with the air con turning off in the middle of the night which affected our sleep. The views from our room were awesome. The beach is great for families and snorkeling. The pools are great. Honestly, a standout. There's a family friendly pool and adult pool. They look into the North Shore waves. Cocktails are served at the pool, and they're good. One minor critique would be to simplify the pricing of the cocktails. The food offering could be improved. We loved the cocktails at the lobby restaurant but the food wasn't great. The service was extremely slow for food. Same for the poolside restaurant. They're also expensive for what you get. Service was good.Staff are lovely. They must be well treated as many have been there for awhile and are friendly. The full fledged restaurant was amazing. Great service and best pork chops I've ever had.The resort texts you if you're enjoying your stay, and we replied no but there was no follow-up.We did have an issue with an item going missing from the pool. It was an honest to god innocent mistake, and it was resolved after a manager got involved. We absolutely would stay here again, but we'd need to figure out a game plan about food and the air con.

An absolutely stunning place to stay! Very clean and always welcomed with friendly staff. The restaurant within the resort had wonderful food! The pool, hot tub and bar was a great place to hang out - with a beautiful view of the ocean. Located next to the resort, and within walking distance, was two beautiful beaches to relax! I highly recommend staying at Ko'a Kea resort, as it made our vacation so special!

Right on the beach. Perfect lanai for watching the waves and listening to the surf. We’ve already made plans to return next year. Red Salt has a superb breakfast. The ladies who serviced our room did a fantastic job. Thank you Jovie. Erin at the pool bar was the best! Personable and makes great martinis.

Extremely nice hotel. Everything was clean, staff was friendly, and location was superb. You’re a stones throw away from two of the nicest beaches on the south shore of Kauai! Very nice and clean pool and hot tub. Housekeeping was impeccable. My only real issue with the place was the mandatory valet service. It costs $35/night to park and then you have to tip the valet drivers on top of that even when your car is only 20 feet away. Highly recommend this resort tho and props to all of the front desk staff and housekeeping!!!

Keep in mind, this review is 7 years old. I forgot to place this review after our 2017 holiday, but my partner and I regularly reminisce about our trip and in particular our stay at this amazing hotel. The room was very clean and tidy and the grounds and the pool area were great. The staff were also so wonderfully kind and welcoming. Best part was the sushi we had at the bar next to the restaurant, I believe the sushi was made by a guy named Justin who is probably not there anymore, but it was AMAZING. He was the friendliest guy too! If we ever make it back to Kauai, this is where we're going to stay!

Truly the best service we’ve ever encountered and most beautiful resort. Typically allowed us to check out and enjoy time the two of us! Incredible staff, food, views, etc. If you’re debating doing an ocean with balcony, do it! We enjoyed sitting outside every morning and night & watching the ocean. 10/10!

FAQs About Resorts for Couples in Hawaii

What is the price range for a romantic resort stay in Hawaii?

The cost of a romantic resort stay in Hawaii varies widely, depending on location, time of year, and the level of luxury desired. On average, nightly rates can range from $250 for more modest accommodations to over $1,000 for high-end resorts. This price often includes access to resort amenities like pools, beaches, and fitness centers, but exclusive experiences such as private dinners, spa treatments, or personalized excursions are typically extra. For the best deals, consider booking well in advance or looking for package offers that combine lodging with activities or dining.

When is the best time to visit Hawaii for a romantic getaway?

The best time to visit Hawaii for a romantic getaway is during the shoulder seasons, April to June and September to November. During these months, you can enjoy pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and more competitive rates at resorts compared to the peak seasons of winter and summer. The weather is warm and inviting year-round, but these periods offer a sweet spot of idyllic conditions and better value. Additionally, visiting during these times provides a great opportunity to witness Hawaii’s breathtaking natural beauty in relative solitude, making for a more intimate experience.

Are there adult-only resorts for couples in Hawaii?

Yes, Hawaii offers several adult-only resorts specifically tailored for couples seeking a quiet and romantic atmosphere. These resorts prioritize creating an environment of tranquility and intimacy, away from the hustle and often cater exclusively to adults. This means no children running around, which can significantly enhance the sense of privacy and romance. Amenities might include adult-only pools, spas offering couples treatments, and activities designed for two, from private dinners to sunset cruises, ensuring a peaceful and romantic setting for your getaway.

What kinds of activities can couples enjoy at Hawaiian resorts?

Couples at Hawaiian resorts can indulge in a vast array of activities designed to nurture connection and adventure. Many resorts offer unique experiences such as couples’ spa treatments using local ingredients, private beachside dinners, and guided tours to explore the natural beauty of the islands. For the adventurous, snorkeling in coral reefs, helicopter tours over volcanoes, and hiking to hidden waterfalls offer thrilling experiences. Additionally, cultural activities like hula lessons, lei-making, and attending authentic luaus allow couples to immerse themselves in the rich Hawaiian culture together.

Can resorts in Hawaii accommodate special occasions for couples?

Absolutely, resorts in Hawaii specialize in catering to special occasions for couples, including honeymoons, anniversaries, and surprise proposals. Many have on-site event planners who can help organize everything from a romantic room setup with flowers and champagne to a customized private dinner under the stars. For those looking to celebrate an occasion to remember, resorts can arrange unique experiences like helicopter rides at sunset, private yacht charters, or even a ceremony renewal on the beach. Always communicate your special occasion when booking to see what bespoke services the resort can offer to make your stay unforgettable.
