DO NOT STAY HERE. We had the worst time at this hotel for a laundry list of reasons. We spent 7 hours at HDN airport waiting on our plane for mechanical issues. Eventually, the flight was cancelled and Alaska Airlines booked us this hotel through Priceline for 3 nights, since their next flight out was not until Wednesday and it was Sunday.

1) NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE - We told Alaska to please check that it was handicap-friendly lodging since my husband had just shattered his hip and femur and could not walk far or up any steps. They told us yes but, when we checked in, the room was at the back of the hotel, the doorway was narrow (so we could not use a wheelchair), the bathroom was too small, toilet too low, and the shower was unusable. The driveway was covered but layered in ice. There was no work done to de-ice the area where guests enter and unload their luggage. There were no wet floor signs in the lobby either, even though guests brought in snow and ice covered tracks.

2) EXTREMELY LOUD - Do not expect to get any sleep. You can hear any and everything in this room, even the outside door closing on the opposite end of the hotel that only leads to the second floor (yes, we tested it). Every door closing shakes the entire room. This was especially frustrating when we had gotten zero sleep at the hospital my husband was admitted to over the weekend and spent all day at the airport.

3) NOT CLEAN - Our room had hair all over everything (before we even settled in). The soaps were mismatched and half used. Paint was chipping onto the floor and one of the beds had a red/brown stain. There were also flies that kept flying around the room as the front door didn't close all the way and left a sizable gap to the hallway.

4) RUDE, INATTENTIVE STAFF - The woman at check-in was friendly but provided false information on handicap accessibility. The woman who worked the morning of Jan. 19th paid zero attention to guests. When I went to discuss the need to check out with her, she was watching videos on her phone on speaker and did not look up. After a minute of requesting her attention, she looked up but kept the video playing. I told her we needed to check out "early" (even though the airline should have booked for the night as we were taking a different flight out the following day) to get to the hospital at home for surgical follow-ups and drainage needed. She said I could call someone else to check and offered nothing else--not even information for other staff. When we walked over to "breakfast," everything was gone. We asked for a coffee refill, if any of the food could be refreshed, etc. and she just stared at us. She eventually acted upset but finally got up, leaving the video playing on her phone. When we checked out, we asked for her help with the door because we had 6 bags, a snowboard bag and were trying to make sure my husband didn't slip and further injure himself on the wet floor/ice outside. She looked at us again, said nothing, and continued facetiming someone.

5) LACK OF CARE, UNRESPONSIVE MANAGEMENT - We called Customer Service to refund us for the unused nights, specifically because we were leaving due to a medical emergency. They contacted hotel staff Monday, the 19th, no response. They called again on Tuesday, the 20th, and someone answered and mentioned that they will speak to their supervisor about approving two nights' worth of a refund but that they were authorized to provide one night's refund. We called again Wednesday, the 21st, and the person I was connected with said they were able to approve two nights' refund and that "should have processed by 3:00pm" that day. On Thursday, Customer Service never answered. We called again this morning and were told they "changed their mind" and decided not to provide a refund anymore.

I was willing to overlook everything else if we received a refund for the time we did not stay at the hotel. However, I feel I need to share this awful experience since they have gone back on their ability to make it right.

Easily the Worst La Quinta I’ve Stayed At

I booked a room with a fireplace, but it didn’t even work. When I mentioned it to the front desk, the employee actually told me to “play with the wires” and try to light the pilot myself. That’s completely unacceptable and unsafe.

The room looked tired and poorly maintained. It wasn’t disgusting, but it definitely wasn’t clean or comfortable in the way La Quinta usually is. Everything about it felt like a cheap roadside motel, not a Wyndham property.

Breakfast was an absolute joke. No batter for the waffles, the coffee makers weren’t labeled, and the eggs and sausage looked like leftovers from the day before. I’m not picky, but this was just lazy.

I’m a Wyndham Diamond member and I’ve stayed at many La Quintas over the years. This one was by far the worst experience I’ve had. When I come back to Steamboat Springs, I’ll be staying anywhere else.

Shower is a joke. $10 a night for parking. If you want to sit in the hot tub, or go swimming, you have to walk, across 2 parking lots, next door to the holiday inn. 3rd week staying in steamboat for work. And the most I've paid for 3 nights. Booked through Priceline and was more expensive than the previous two, 3 night stays, next door at the holiday inn. They were booked, so I stayed here s la quinta this time. Got woken up by the adjacent rooms alarm clock, paper thin walls, and my alarm went off unexpectedly because no one checked to make sure it was off before check inn. I have never left a bad review in my life until this one

Never again! The rooms were awful. I don’t think they ever vacuumed, the shower was gross, and the sink wouldn’t drain — so you had to brush your teeth with standing water. Basic needs that hotel should have and the audacity to raise rates is the complain here. I thought it would be at least clean— big mistake. I’ll pay the extra money next time . I couldn’t wait to leave. I spent way too much for what this hotel was worth for two nights, including the pet fee. I know it was Labor Day weekend, but seriously, plan ahead so you don’t end up here. I wasn’t even on vacation — I was here for work — but still, I should’ve planned better.

Our room was nice and spacious, the bathroom and shower had some slight water stains or mold.
There was alot of construction going on behind the hotel which was noisy at times .
We booked the hotel online and there was no mention on a parking fee so we were a bit surprised when they told us about the parking fee being $10 a night which was disappointing.

The steamboat grand is wonderful. Gorgeous outdoor pools. Amazing location, wonderful staff. Clean hotel. But it is tired and outdated. Furniture in the room is uncomfortable. The bed pillows hard. Beds are hard. Sofas are hard. Hotel just needs a good update with softer linens and overall softer touches! Would make a big difference!

We went here on a 3-day excursion in the middle of the week in shoulder season (mid-November). We just needed to get away for a few days.

We got a great deal on a room where the price of two nights was likely less than the price of one night during high season.

The staff are all very friendly. The hotel is very warm and cozy. The rooms are exquisite. And these are great!

Especially loved the hot tubs. There are two of them and they are huge! As you exit the building for them, the hot tub on the left seems to be not as hot as the hot tub on the right. The hot tub jets are great in both! Also, they claim that the pool is swimming and swim out, but there's only a 6 ft entry to the pool right outside of the door near the steam rooms and saunas. So you can't really swim indoors.

There are lots of USB outlets in the lamps beside the bed and in some of the lamps in the living room. But they are USB-A outlets. Some parts of my suite, which was on the 4th floor in the middle, had 4G signal with two bars, whereas other parts of the room had 5G signal with three bars.

I would stay here anytime!

My Stay - Mid September - Solo -

Pets NOPE 👎 SO I left puppy and my nephews while visiting Ft Collins. I decided to extend my visit with my family and take a little road trip to steamboat and I am so glad that I did. It is a wonderful little town. I had a fantastic time.

Location - excellent! Close to lots of fun stuff… if I were staying in steamboat I would either stay right Downtown or in this location if I were going to be snowboarding! There was a really good bike rental place nearby downstairs and a couple of great restaurants. This is at the base of the mountain that has the lifts up to the top for the sunset Happy Hour THAT I MISSED boo 😒 bc it wasn’t going on Thursday’s only Sunday.

Food/Drink - great bar and they have a little store coffee shop on site that had lots of stuff. I wish in ate more then breakfast BECAUSE my BK was so great 😀 I loved it bacon / biscuits and gravy all cooked perfectly and the bar was good and open late bc of the conference going on.

Rooms… ok meh 🫤 I can say for the price I paid I super scored bc I paid 198.00 for a 5-700 or more a night room but I was there off season on a Tuesday/ Wednesday. It probably goes for 1200.00 during season. It was very very clean and had a cabin feel to it.

I liked the Coffee Service and I thought the closet space was great. It was a one bedroom condo. I liked the bathroom and I thought that amenities were all satisfactory but nothing really blew me away. I especially hated the TV situation because a resort like this, not to have any streaming like you can’t have any Netflix or anything like that, but I don’t know. I guess it wasn’t that big of a deal in hindsight.

Business center : there really isn’t one??? I had to work while I was there and I was really disappointed for resort of this size not to have anywhere to work. There was a little Eating / dining area off of the coffee shop little store thingy, but it was very uncomfortable 😣

Internet : I had absolutely no problems with the Internet during my stay. It was very fast and efficient.

Shuttle: they had a great on-site shuttle that you could download an app and just have the shuttle take you wherever you wanted to go pretty much. It goes I think from like 10 to 10 at night or maybe 10 to 9 I also got an Uber one night and it came really fast.

Wine store downstairs around the corner: man I wish I knew about this. I only discovered it on my second night and there’s a really really great wine store with a good selection.

Fun Things I did :

I took a balloon trip that was fantastic. I loved it and couldn’t recommend it anymore and the location is about seven minutes from the hotel. It’s a must do.

I rented an electric bike and rode that Downtown and went shopping and visited some happy hours along the river and that was an exceptional day. I loved it and I discovered this restaurant that was my favorite restaurant there of all the restaurants called Laundry, I live in Newport Beach CA - if this was in my neighborhood I would be a frequent flyer lol!!

Riverside Restaurants/Happy Hour:
This city does a proper happy hour lol all the restaurants participate and I especially enjoyed visiting all of the restaurants along the river! My fav was E3 chophouse - the outside was really beautiful 🤩

Hat Store: I know random right!! “Steamboat Hatter” … I’ve never wanted a hat more than the hats I saw in the store and on their Instagram page, but to custom order one it takes about three months they do have a lot of stock and a lot of options in store. It was just kind of pricey and I wasn’t prepared to sell out all that cash, but I feel like a hat from this place is on my list of things to do in my life lol…

I also stayed an extra night at a cheap motel that I really loved in downtown too that allows pets I would probably stay at next time I visit.

OVERALL:

grateful to have stayed at such a nice place during the Fall, the place was great and one thing I forgot to mention is that all of my interactions with the staff were exceptional and that goes a long way!!

Teresa 🙂

All the rooms are clean, nearly renovated, and if you need anything, the staff will take care of the problem immediately right on the mountain where it’s still quiet! this is the perfect place to create memories special memories home away!! from home

It was a fine experience. Beautifully located and lots of amenities. The rooms were spacious and clean, even though I felt the mattresses were a bit too firm for my liking. Everything was really expensive, but that’s Steamboat Springs for you nowadays. Located within walking distance of the ski slopes and several restaurants.
