Breakfast was fabulous. The baked apple pancakes are my new favorite.
The owners are super accommodating and the town has that classic Vermont vibe. We had originally wanted to stay at Jay Peak, but I am glad we stayed at the Phineas Swann. I think you get so much more, and the drive is easy. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
In town, we ate at Bernie’s and the Snowshoe. Both were great. We have been to the restaurant at the Inn next door but decided to skip it this time as our last experience was subpar and they charged us $20 for plain noodles for our young daughter which seemed a bit aggressive. Also love the Belfry but didn’t get up there this time.
And the breakfast? Homemade waffle, and other selections. Delicious!
I loved my stay here, I wish I will come back some day!
If you want to stay in an amazing place where to relax and eat great breakfast, that’s the place for you!

My only gripe was upon arrival at 5:00PM we were informed that our room was not yet ready, which was surprising given the standard check-in time. While delays can happen, the interaction at the front desk felt dismissive rather than welcoming, which took away from what should have been a special start to our stay. Two ladies at the front desk tried to be helpful, it's was their superior or manager who was extremely rude. We ended up checking in at 6p.
On a positive note, dinner at the Red Rooster was absolutely fabulous and truly a highlight of the trip. The game room was really fun and is a nice feature when you just want to stay cozy at the hotel. And the spa was AMAZING! Honestly maybe one of the best I've been to. The facilities were beautiful, we could have spent all day there. We're already looking forward to our next trip back!
We enjoyed a uniquely flavored dinner at the Richardson‘s Tavern. I ordered the cod- I was blown away wondering howthey possibly could get that many flavors on one plate and yet all complementary to one another - between the fish, rice, mushrooms, and greens all delicious! My husband ordered the duck and he has a gluten allergy which they were more than willing to accommodate replacing the barley with a wild rice. Carrots were to die for - delicious unique butter, and seasoning! Do not miss dinner at the Richardson’s Tavern.
The food & service was wonderful. They have a delicious breakfast buffet and our waitress, Savannah, was so sweet. I forgot my purse on a chair and she ran after me to make sure I got it back- thank you!!
The rooms are clean, comfortable and have a classic charm. The windows open so you can sleep with the fresh Vermont air.
The hotel is a short walk to downtown, close to local farms, Quichee George & Simon Pearce.
The rooms are spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, offering a cozy retreat after a day of exploring. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and every detail from the decor to the amenities shows great care and quality.
The staff truly made the experience unforgettable. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making my stay as enjoyable as possible.
The location is perfect, just a short walk from the charming village of Woodstock, where you can find unique shops, cafes, and scenic spots. The on-site dining is also excellent, with fresh, flavorful meals and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Whether you're looking for relaxation, romance, or a peaceful escape into Vermont’s natural beauty, the Woodstock Inn is an outstanding choice. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely be returning.
