We enjoyed The Trout Room overlooking The Trout River. The weather was frigid during our stay but we were warm and cozy at the inn. 24/7 Snacks, tea and coffee were appreciated. Our room included a full kitchen which we enjoyed and were happy to stay in after days of very cold skiing at Jay. The staff was attentive and always available. In addition to feeling cozy we enjoyed the spa's hot tub and saunas. Location was ideal for Jay Peak skiing. Between an equipped kitchen, full breakfast and spa access the room rates were a great value.

We just stayed recently for an after Christmas getaway it was fabulous. The location is perfect for skiing or just a walk around the small town of Montgomery. The staff is very friendly and attentive to all your needs. We picked the “I hate to ski package.” And hung in the Inn doing nothing unplugging from the WiFi and watching the fire burn. The Inn is bright in color not dark and oaky also it was decorated for Christmas time. We left Dec. 31 so we missed New Years Eve it probably would have been a Hallmark movie. My advice Book and get there. We will try and get back for summer fly fishing

I almost never leave reviews but our stay at Phineas Swann was amazing! You can’t pick a better location for skiing or just heading to VT’s less traveled north. The owners are incredibly thoughtful and are great chefs! And it’s super rare to find a dog friendly place that truly ensures your furry friend gets to enjoy vacation as well! Come and stay here! You’ll love it!

I love this place. We stayed in the trout river suite and enjoyed a relaxing vacation with our dogs. The suite has everything we need for a perfect weekend. The remote was missing for the DVD player but Darren found one from his collection. I love the new Sasquatch across the river.

Breakfast was fabulous. The baked apple pancakes are my new favorite.

I would go back in a heartbeat! My husband and I came into town for a wedding and we were blown away by our experience at Phineas Inn. We stayed in a carriage house suite, the price was very reasonable and the suite was absolute perfection. The inn is adorable, quiet and spotless! Our room was so comfortable and sized perfectly for two people. I usually have a terrible time sleeping, but I was out like light during our stay. The bed was so luxurious, and the room was very well designed for our comfort: from the placement of the TV, the lightning, the large bathroom, cozy bedding, different densities of pillows, to the abundance of snacks, I have never felt more at home in a bed that was not my own. The complementary breakfasts we enjoyed were fresh, complex and fantastic! The main house was so beautiful, the dining room warm and spacious; the sitting room is full of light and cozy seating. I had a wonderful time in their gym area, hot tub and sauna. We were so happy with our stay, next time we will bring our dog and make it a family trip!

Had a short but lovely stay at Phineas Swann Inn! Appreciated the plant-based breakfast sausage and EV charger, though we had some issues charging. Our room was very nice, the breakfast was yummy, and the wifi was good (I was able to take some video calls). If I'm in the area again I would stay here!

Amazing. My family of 5(2 adults and 3 kids) rented the "Black Bear Suite" which is the bottom floor of a house about 50 yds from the main inn. Each day started out with an awesome breakfast at the main house, then a quick 15 min drive over the hill to Jay peak. At the end of an active day snowboarding, it was hot tub time followed by fresh chocolate chip cookies in front of the fire.

The owners are super accommodating and the town has that classic Vermont vibe. We had originally wanted to stay at Jay Peak, but I am glad we stayed at the Phineas Swann. I think you get so much more, and the drive is easy. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

We just returned after a 4 night stay at the Inn. The owners were great, answered all our questions from dinning suggestion, to information about the local area. Every need filled. Our six year old daughter especially enjoyed the cookies, candy and microwave popcorn. The breakfasts served we delicious, and set the day off on the right foot. The owners took great care of our four legged daughter as well and after worrying about her the first day we knew she was in good hands. We look forward to our next visit and will need to make sure we leave room for some spa time!

Lovely B&B. We typically stay here with our dogs in the winter but came for the summer this time and it was just as wonderful. We enjoyed exploring the river and finding swimming holes. Clean accommodations, well equipped suites. The breakfasts are excellent and the staff are friendly. Love the popcorn and old school DVD library.

In town, we ate at Bernie’s and the Snowshoe. Both were great. We have been to the restaurant at the Inn next door but decided to skip it this time as our last experience was subpar and they charged us $20 for plain noodles for our young daughter which seemed a bit aggressive. Also love the Belfry but didn’t get up there this time.

This inn is amazing, very warm, relaxing and beautiful. You will be stunned by hot tubs, flowers and green grass all around. The staff is so nice and the rooms are lovely.
And the breakfast? Homemade waffle, and other selections. Delicious!

I loved my stay here, I wish I will come back some day!
If you want to stay in an amazing place where to relax and eat great breakfast, that’s the place for you!

Absolute gem! We stayed at the Phineas Swann in March to catch the end of the ski season at Jay and it was so enjoyable! Darren and Lynne were hospitable in every measure - homemade cookies, beautiful decor, delicious breakfast, and an excellent selection of craft beer and wine by the glass to be enjoyed by the fireplace or out in the hot tubs. It was a wonderful stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable stay with personal touch.

My husband and I booked the Woodstock Inn for a wedding anniversary getaway and what a delight it was! The property itself is absolutely beautiful.

My only gripe was upon arrival at 5:00PM we were informed that our room was not yet ready, which was surprising given the standard check-in time. While delays can happen, the interaction at the front desk felt dismissive rather than welcoming, which took away from what should have been a special start to our stay. Two ladies at the front desk tried to be helpful, it's was their superior or manager who was extremely rude. We ended up checking in at 6p.

On a positive note, dinner at the Red Rooster was absolutely fabulous and truly a highlight of the trip. The game room was really fun and is a nice feature when you just want to stay cozy at the hotel. And the spa was AMAZING! Honestly maybe one of the best I've been to. The facilities were beautiful, we could have spent all day there. We're already looking forward to our next trip back!

This is a year overdue, but this review is specifically for Jake. He went above and beyond to accommodate my out-of-the-ordinary request. I won't go into the details because it was pretty silly on my end, but it was a little surprise I wanted to leave for my cousin to find when she visited! She lives in FL. I live in CO, and we missed each other at this hotel by a week. Anyway, I so appreciated his friendliness and willingness to make a guest feel special. Extraordinary hospitality is rare, and I just thinking of this trip and I felt I owed this gratitude and wanted it to be known! Thank you!

every person who works here is dedicated to customer service! We are beyond pleased with the accommodations!
We enjoyed a uniquely flavored dinner at the Richardson‘s Tavern. I ordered the cod- I was blown away wondering howthey possibly could get that many flavors on one plate and yet all complementary to one another - between the fish, rice, mushrooms, and greens all delicious! My husband ordered the duck and he has a gluten allergy which they were more than willing to accommodate replacing the barley with a wild rice. Carrots were to die for - delicious unique butter, and seasoning! Do not miss dinner at the Richardson’s Tavern.

We had a wonderful stay at the Woodstock Inn & Resort. We were checked in by Christine who went so above & beyond to get us settled & ensure we were aware of all the amenities offered.

The food & service was wonderful. They have a delicious breakfast buffet and our waitress, Savannah, was so sweet. I forgot my purse on a chair and she ran after me to make sure I got it back- thank you!!

The rooms are clean, comfortable and have a classic charm. The windows open so you can sleep with the fresh Vermont air.

The hotel is a short walk to downtown, close to local farms, Quichee George & Simon Pearce.

My stay at the Woodstock Inn in Vermont was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warm hospitality and a peaceful atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home. The property is beautifully maintained, with classic New England charm blended perfectly with modern comfort.

The rooms are spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, offering a cozy retreat after a day of exploring. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and every detail from the decor to the amenities shows great care and quality.

The staff truly made the experience unforgettable. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making my stay as enjoyable as possible.

The location is perfect, just a short walk from the charming village of Woodstock, where you can find unique shops, cafes, and scenic spots. The on-site dining is also excellent, with fresh, flavorful meals and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Whether you're looking for relaxation, romance, or a peaceful escape into Vermont’s natural beauty, the Woodstock Inn is an outstanding choice. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely be returning.
