Ken and Bill are the most excellent hosts in this charming gem. They made sure we had the best time on Thanksgiving by telling us wonderful stories of the hotel’s history and listening to our tales on why greyhounds are wonderful dogs.
We would absolutely love to visit again and will be telling everyone who is visiting to stop by to enjoy great drinks and excellent ambiance with amazing hosts.
We're currently in room 210 for the night. I think this is the "John Wayne Suite". This is the final night of a quick trip from Montana to Minnesota for a funeral. The places we've stayed over 3 nights have ranged from awful to pretty nice. I wanted to give my wife & I one very nice room on this trip. We found it! This is a luxury suite, with a high-end feel. The living room is spacious with a comfortable sofa (with sleeper) & nice chair with ottoman. There is a wet bar, entry closet, gas fireplace (currently non-functioning), a nice TV, and a half bath. The lighting is such that the multiple high-end fixtures can be on or off to create mood or conversation lighting. The bedroom has large glass doors leading to a shared balcony that overlooks Deadwood's old main street. The king bed is comfortable with good linens & blankets. There is a built in chest of drawers flanked by closets that contain luxury robes & a personal item safe. Again, the multiple fixtures & switches allow for any lighting moods. Another gas fireplace (fully functional) resides in this room. Double doors separate the bedroom from the living room. Another set of double doors leads to the en-suite bathroom. The bathroom is as big as some rooms I've stayed in. There is a beautiful shower with two spray heads, large enough for two users. There is a large jetted tub (the drain didn't seal well), a beautiful vanity, a timed heated towel rack and a separate toilet room. Not to seem outdone by the other rooms, this too has great lighting choices for mood or task. The website pictures are portrayed accurately. The value for this suite is very good. In perspective, this room was only $3.00 more than a suite at a Country Inn in West Minneapolis. That room was OK, this one is exceptional. That being said, we may have hit this in the off season, we're here on October 5th. We'll definitely be back. Next time for more than one night!
My husband and I had such a wonderful experience during our stay at Celebrity Hotel. . From the moment we arrived, the manager Ken and staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—they were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Their hospitality truly stood out and made our stay feel special. Ken the manager went above and beyond to assist us and help us out of a terrible experience with booking.com. He greeted us as we arrived, put us into room 210 which exceeded our expectations. He and Roxanne both, were so full of kindness our entire stay. The room itself was spotless and well-maintained, with a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable, making it easy to get a great night’s sleep. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, and I could tell cleanliness and guest comfort are top priorities here. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Between the amazing staff, the clean and cozy room, and the overall welcoming environment, Celebrity Hotel exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay while in Deadwood. Celebrity Hotel will be the only hotel we will stay at each time we decide to visit Deadwood, and especially due to its location. Right on Main Street with a lobby full of fun slots. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This boutique hotel was beautiful! Our room was on the 2nd floor and a suite....all for under $200 a night.
The bathroom had a towel warmer that came on automatically at 6:00 am and stayed on till 10:00 am.....the bedroom was on a corner and had 2 beautiful windows with a fairly good view. The king size bed was comfortable and beautiful. This suite was a large room wtih a heavy solid wood door entering into a hallway that wasn't visible into the bedroom. Sweet!
Now...for the 4 stars. The main road through town (not through downtown...but the main highway) was right outside our window. Although we were on the 2nd floor and the windows were Pella, you could hear every car that left the bars at 2:00 am....and every semi and car going by starting at 4:00 am. We are light sleepers and it was impossible to sleep through the traffic noise.
We were only there for 1 night. Would have loved to have had a restaurant in the hotel, however, there were plenty of places to eat all around us. AND...there was a sweet large 2nd floor balcony with chairs and tables that overlooked the Main Street through downtown. Loved that!
All in all, I would stay here again, but definitely not on the back side of the hotel.
I visited the Celebrity Hotel as a visitor and someone who was looking for an attraction to go to without actually staying at the hotel. I was intrigued by the different celebrities that are stationed here. I thought it was interesting, but I thought more could be done to give it a celebrity feel. I also didn't like how the casino and the celebrity models were mixed. I thought it would have made sense to separate the two, especially when they have a warning for kids observing the museum part, aside from the hotel and casino. Still, I got a lot of neat pictures and liked the concept, I just felt more could be done with the celebrity concept. The location is gteat, being on the strip with everything else in Deadwood. Kids will probably enjoy seeing the celebrities as well, but more context should be provided for them.
This B & B is an absolute delight. The staff is super personable, and accommodating. This is our third stay, and have never been disappointed. Everything is top notch. The decor is just fabulous. Easy walking distance to Deadwood main street, where all the casino's are. We will never stay anywhere else except here when visiting Deadwood.
Stayed one night at the beautiful and authentic 1899 Inn on Friday 9/5/2025. Passing through on our way to Yellowstone. We stayed in the 'Maid's Room' with the bathroom down the hall about 6 steps from our door. Sharing the bathroom with another room was no issue, didn't see the other occupants at all during the stay. Room, bathroom, and entire house was very clean and impeccably kept. Breakfast was an egg bake with wonderful accompaniments, fresh sourdough -- excellent! The location was easy walking distance to downtown Deadwood. The walk to the cemetery at the top of the street was exhilarating! Gracious and excellent hosts! Will return to the 1899 Inn anytime we are passing through without hesitation!
This is the worst bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at. The room was incredibly tiny. There was no where to sit. No chairs. There were over a dozen dead flies on the floor by the bed. We couldn't even get clean towels for our shower the next morning. Breakfast was a joke. The first morning cinnamon coffee cake that was dry as the Sahara and not tasty at all. Fruit cup no. They gave us two tiny grapes cut in half and two transparent slices of bananas. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. Kept rolling off the side of the bed. Parking places were so tight we had to back out of the parking place in order for me to get in and out of my side of the car. Then somebody parked so close to me. We couldn't even get in our car. We had to hunt down the owner of the car to come move it I'm only giving it one star for everything because it won't let me give zero Stars.
Room didn't even have a chair in it. Left dirty towels on bathroom floor as instructed, gone for over 10hrs and dirty towels were still on floor when we got back. Dead flies all around an uncomfortable bed and breakfast was the worst in Deadwood, 2 grapes, 2 thinly slices of banana and some kind of unidentifiable baked something. Not recommended and will not stay ever again. Wasted money.
We had a fantastic trip to the Black Hills and our stay at the 1899 Inn was a key part of our trip. On our annual summer adventure ride this year we always look for a unique and fun place to stay to add to the experience. Although it's an older house it has all of the modern conveniences and upgrades to make our group more than comfortable without losing the charm of the historical house that we were looking for. Aaron and his 1899 Inn was the perfect spot for our group. The house and cottage fit all 11 of us. The breakfasts every morning were wonderful and a great start to the day. Aaron's local knowledge definitely added to our trip with some great local tips on routed to check out and sights to see. The house was easy walking distance to downtown Deadwood which also added to our overall experience! We will for sure stay here again the next time we visit the Black Hills! Thank you Aaron for the wonderful hospitality!
