Explore Kansas City: Top Spots, Eats, and Hotel Picks
Kansas City barbecue is the real deal. People argue about Texas versus Carolina, but KC does something different with burnt ends that just works. The city’s got more than ribs, though. Jazz history runs deep here. The plazas are gorgeous. And yeah, you can find hotels with Jacuzzis in the room if that’s your style for a weekend trip.
Attractions Worth Checking Out
- The National WWI Museum and Memorial sits on a hill you can’t miss. The Liberty Memorial Tower? Climb it. Takes some effort, but the view goes on forever. You see the whole city spread out, all the neighborhoods, the rivers. Sunset makes it even better.
- The 18th & Vine District is where jazz happened in this city. The American Jazz Museum tells that story. Charlie Parker grew up around here. Count Basie played the clubs. You can listen to old recordings, watch grainy footage of performances. It’s not just reading plaques on walls–they actually let you experience the music.
- Country Club Plaza feels like someone built a Spanish village and dropped it in the middle of Missouri, which is basically what happened in the 1920s. Fountains on every corner. Tile work covering the buildings. Outdoor cafes where you can sit and watch people walk by. Shopping if you’re into that. The whole thing covers 15 blocks, so wear comfortable shoes.
Where to Eat or Drink
- Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que has lines out the door most days. Worth it. The Z-Man sandwich is what everyone orders–brisket, melted provolone, and onion rings piled on a roll. Sounds weird. Tastes incredible. Show up before noon or plan to wait.
- Steak dinner? 801 Chophouse ages its beef right there in the restaurant. You can see the aging room. The wine list is as thick as a phone book. Expensive, sure, but sometimes you want to splurge.
- Boulevard Brewing Co. does free tours of its facility. Tank 7 is their big beer, the one that put them on the map. Farmhouse ale style. The tour’s fine, but really you’re there for the tasting room at the end, where they pour things not available in stores.
Top Picks for Hotels with Hot Tubs in the Room
- Best for Couples: Chateau Avalon goes all in on themed rooms. Egyptian suite, Venetian suite, Medieval suite. Every room has a two-person Jacuzzi. It’s over the top in the best way. Not for everyone, but couples seem to love it.
- Best Value: Quality Inn I-70 Near Kansas Speedway keeps things simple and budget-friendly. Clean rooms, working hot tubs, free parking. Nothing fancy. It’s near the NASCAR track, so race weekends get busy.
- Luxury Option: Main Street Inn restored an old building and turned it into something special. Exposed brick walls, high ceilings, Jacuzzi suites with actual nice linens. Feels boutique without trying too hard.
Nearby Cities for Jacuzzi Suites
- Overland Park sits 15 miles south. Suburb technically, but it has its own hotels with in-room hot tubs.
- Topeka’s an hour west–state capital, smaller feel, less to do, but some decent hotel options if you want to see more of Kansas.

Verified reviews of Kansas City hotels with hot tubs

Also wanted to add; told the person at the front desk about these issues. She apologized but this was the main reason we booked the room and none of it was a great experience. Was not worth the money.
The lady when we checked in originally was super nice, we just didn’t notice the issues until the morning or we would have spoken to her.
The check out process was rude. We woke up at checkout time, which was my fault. We let housekeeping know we were running late and that we needed to pack up, and get ready to leave. It took us 15 minutes to pack up, use the restroom, and leave. During that time we got called twice on the hotel phone, had people come to the door multiple times, and they even called my cell phone. Even though I was running late, which is my fault, it felt like the staff was harassing us to get out when it was just 15 minutes. I absolutely would not recommend staying here.
Unfortunately we received a wake up call at 7:30 in the morning that we did not request. When asking the front desk. What happened? We were told " oh that's our phone system. You have to turn that off"
Let me make it real clear... No one wants to be woken up without a specific request. To be told that it's "automatic, it's the phone system" or "we" needed to do something in order to make sure that didn't happen, "we" needed to push a button on our phone (that we were not told about upon check-in at 2:00 a.m. after driving 12 hours), only to be awoken at the time we did not intend. This was not pleasant or appreciated when we're trying to recharge for hours more driving.
The biscuits and gravy saved the day...
There wasn’t a do not disturb sign and when we asked front desk for one they didn’t have any.
The hot tub was also gross. It was full of scum.
I don’t normally write reviews, but for the price I know they can do way better.
I stayed this past Saturday and Sunday night I've never had any problems until Saturday night it was a rough night for a few different reasons but they took care of it and made it right when I checked out. It's always clean and convenient and has everything you need I would recommend Stoney Creek Inns to everyone and the price is good also and they have always had even on a weekday a very very good hot breakfast this past 2 night stay was at the independence location
The rooms are larger than average, with the sink in the hotel room outside of the bathroom. The showers are big and have ledges to sit or help with shaving. They also have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (all eucalyptus/stress relief) mounted in the shower.
The beds are super comfy and they do not skimp on pillows! Tons of pillows! The bedding can be a bit worn down but I'm sure if I had called for more the front desk would have helped. They were fine as they were though, just a bit light so I managed to wake up with them on the floor or sideways. The AC worked perfectly and wasn't too loud.
All the employees are super nice and welcoming. The breakfast was simple but had hot and cold options, which was appreciated. The hotel is next to a lake that has a walking path for some quick exercise and sunshine.
Stoney Creek is cozy, comfortable, and my favorite hotel when taking weekend trips to KC.
Do take heed - DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR VEHICLE.
Also, avoid room 229 if you are a light sleeper. It is a wonderful room except the elevator and lobby noise hit that room direct on.
Impressed with this hotel and will visit it again next year!
