This was a nice enough hotel. It looks nice and updated on the inside lobby. After you see the rooms they are less updated but still in fine shape. The bathrooms however could be better. They were dusty and had some questionable drop ceiling. That should be an obvious no-go in this day and age. Aside from this the hot tub was also out of service. It’s a solid stay if you need somewhere but a 3star hotel. I will give props to their water access though, that beach was nice!

It was fast and easy to check in. Housekeeping checked every day to see if we needed anything, so that was appreciated. The pool was nicely heated. The food I ordered from take out at the hotel was very tasty. We did miss having Beachcombers open so we could have had a few drinks while not leaving the hotel, but it is the off-season so it is understandable, and we were glad to be able to at least order food. The whole hotel smells and looks very clean. Overall another great experience at this Ramada!

While the location is excellent, pretty much everything else about this hotel is just ok. Nothing terrible, but nothing impressive either. There's a indoor pool, which is nice, but it's still fairly chilly in the winter. The rooms aren't small, but they're not overally large either. I appreciate that there's a fitness center, but it's quite small.

Overall, I don't regret staying here, but I'm not jumping at the chance to go back.

What a great trip! The room was spotless and better than I expected an oceanfront room to be. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows which I’m very picky about, were very comfortable. The only thing I wasn’t happy with was the coffee that was available in the rooms and in the lobby. The taste was off. I WILL stay here again, but I will bring my Keurig next time. The staff was top-notch, everybody had a smile on their face and were very personable And helpful. 10/10

I would say this is a pretty nice hotel. Especially for the price we paid was less than 300$ for 2 nights. We did have a pet friendly room. The only thing I will say is I think they could have done better cleaning the room in the beginning because I understand it’s pet friendly(no big deal) but there was already a decent amount of dog hair on the floor and sandy when we first came in. It is an older hotel but like I said for the price I’m not complaining. I never seen any bugs or anything so I consider that a win compared to a few past experiences with other hotels. Great beach access and nice pool and hot tub.

We spent two nights the day after Christmas and had a really nice visit. Very clean room with comfortable beds and accommodations. The shower had great water pressure . This is a pet peeve of mine especially after staying at Air B&B The private beach access was wonderful. Breakfast was plentiful and amazing. Great central location. The only downside is late check in 4:00 pm. They have a heated indoor pool and hot tub we did not have time to use. We plan to stay again ! Happy Customers Tim & Robin Adams

I give service 3 stars because we were there for 3 days and each morning housekeeping would knock and open the door before we could respond. (We found the do not disturb sign behind the lamp on the table when we were packing to leave.) Two morning I told them that we didn't need service and returned in the afternoon to find that they had serviced the room anyhow, and while I appreciate the tidy room I would have preferred they followed my wishes and left it alone. I don't know if they thought that would garner a tip (larger tip) but it didn't. Otherwise the room was very nice and clean, water pressure in the shower was wonderful. We didn't have breakfast there so I'm sure about that. We will most likely stay again next year.

We had a wonderful stay at Shutters on the Banks, even though the weather wasn’t ideal. The hotel is perfectly located right on the beach, protected by a dune. If you want an ocean view, be sure to book a room on the 3rd or 4th floor — those are labeled as “ocean view” on the reservation site. It’s just a few steps over the dune to the sand and surf.
Our room was spacious, spotless, with a balcony overlooking the ocean, and equipped with modern amenities. Housekeeping came by daily, and the entire property felt very well maintained. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with something for everyone: fresh fruit, waffles, instant oatmeal, hot eggs, bacon, sausage, muffins, bagels, bread, yogurt, milk, juices, coffee, tea, etc. The hot options vary each day, which keeps it interesting if you’re staying for a few mornings.
The location is also ideal, with easy access to restaurants and shops throughout Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, and Kitty Hawk.
Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing, comfortable stay on the Outer Banks!

This place was so enjoyable to stay! Heres the pros and cons
Pros- very close to the beach and easily accessible.. the indoor pool was nice and warm. Our room was very comfortable.
The free breakfast was delicious and I like that they changed it daily so it wasn't the same old 10 out of 10 loved it.
They let you use the pool and beach access before and after check out
Cons- do not expect an early check in, even 20mins early. We were there hanging out in the pool and walked to the beach. We saw the house keeper working on our room she was done about 2.5 hours before check in even though we called at 1 and asked to be called when our room was ready. They did let us use the pool there was 2 other families that all recieved a call 17-15mins before the actual check in time to tell us our room was ready. ( our ice maker had enough time to make ice before we got in the room) and since we were in the pool we saw the housekeeper leave our room and never go back thats how we were aware it was clean way ahead of time.
Some of the ladies at the front desk arent the most pleasant.. no HI,HELLO,BYE when coming in and out of the lobby
One part of the concrete was unleveled and my son fell and another kid fell there as well
And the biggest con had nothing to do with them.. it was us.. we had to leave, and I didnt wanna leave and its been several days since ive been home and I cant stop thinking about it. I'll be back next summer and I am already ready to book our next stay

Our family stayed here for the 1st time this year as we normally will rent a house. They were able to get us rooms all side by side, the indoor & outdoor pool option was amazing for the kids especially with the mix of bad weather & tons of jelly fish we experienced while there. The rooms were very clean! The deluxe continental breakfast gave tons of options for everyone to find something they liked to eat & the staff were always very pleasant. Only issue we had while we loved the private wood sidewalk entrance to the beach was the showers coming off the beach did not have enough pressure to really wash yourself off very well (had to use shower by the pool) & the incline due to the dune made it hard for elderly to get over easily. Obviously we know that would take excavating to get the incline down so if you have elderly or handicapped may not be the best option to get to the beach. But we will definitely be back & loved our stay!
