Rooms were very clean, bed was comfy, and the service was great. However, the room was stark with no amenities, and definitely not the quaint romantic setting we were expecting or read about in reviews. It is ok for a one night getaway but was disappointing and we probably would not return.

Charming bed and breakfast inn. Been here several times and always go back. Comfortable rooms and beds. Very clean. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. A short drive to Salem or Swampscott.

Adorable inn, recently remodeled with so many nice extra touches like robes, and spa bathtub. 10 min walk to the beach. I will definitely stay again!

Had the most magical experience at the hotel Marblehead! Beautiful 3 story building built in the late 1800's has been updated. Staff is fantastic and so accommodating! They made my trip so easy and memorable! I will definitely be back!

Great experience! Friendly staff. Rooms are rustic but with modern amenities. TV was a bit dated though, bit barely spent time in room so didn't matter much. Close to Salem but wasn't too hectic.

The Merchant is undoubtedly one of the finest hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at, raising the bar for hospitality. The staff proactively sends inviting messages complete with reminders, parking directions, and check-in links to streamline your arrival. Nestled in the heart of Salem, the hotel is just steps away from enchanting witch shops, delightful eateries, and intriguing museums. It boasts a luxurious design that elegantly showcases its Georgian-style architecture. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm cookies, and the following morning, fresh scones were served. Despite being fully booked, the hotel maintained a remarkable tranquility, making it feel as though we were the only guests. The experience was well worth the price, and I would book again without hesitation.

This place was incredible! It is a short walk from the trains and near so many cute restaurants and shops. This place isn't like your typical hotel with people coming in and out, running up and down the hallways, impersonal. The office staff was so nice and were available for emergencies if needed. The place itself was beautiful! The rooms are cute and charming, very inviting, and comfortable. You can only access the building with a code, so I felt very safe. After being out all day and seeing the sights and shopping, we came back to freshly baked cookies out on the counter for everyone. They have snacks available at all times of the day. I felt like I was at home without needing to do any of the cleaning or cooking. I felt pampered. We had to check out at 11:00, but weren't ready to leave town just yet. They allowed us to store our luggage until it was time to leave. They even let us come back and use their second floor terrace to watch the eclipse after check-out. Truly the only "downside" was lugging my suitcase up the stairs. Since it's an older building, there are no elevators, but it really wasn't a problem. The office was more than happy to help with luggage. I would 100% recommend The Merchant if you are planning a stay in Salem. I will definitely be back!

Such a wonderful place! The layout and style is so cool. The rooms are really fun and clean. They have a great layout of breakfast options/coffee, fresh baked goods in the morning, even extra fridge space for your stuff. The hosts are super attentive, so friendly, helpful and they offer the ability to reach out after the front desk is closed for the night. It’s located in a perfect spot, walking distance from pretty much all the shopping, restaurants, and museums you’d want to check out. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

The staff was very informative and friendly. Location is perfect, everything is within walking distance. We chose to stay here because of the uniqueness and history of this hotel. We felt right at home with the delicious espresso and variety of food and snacks offered. There were baked good throughout the day/night which pleasantly surprised us. The cleanliness was impeccable, no crack or crevice missed. The decor was high end and beds extremely comfortable. Can't wait to return!

I truly cannot recommend this place enough. The rooms are wildly cozy and functional. The staff is extremely sweet and helpful. I loved having breakfast at my leisure and midnight snacks at the little kitchenettes on the main and top floors. The location was also excellent - we could walk everywhere on our itinerary. Wonderful vibes and the history buff plus is that George Washington stayed here! (No ghosts though =)
