Newport Hot Tub Hotels — Quick Guide

Quick reference for booking a Jacuzzi suite in Newport, Oregon and the surrounding central coast

Best Time to Visit

  • Summer (June–August): Peak season. Newport's beaches, Oregon Coast Aquarium, and Hatfield Marine Science Center draw the strongest demand of the year. Oceanfront homes and top hotels book out fast on summer weekends. Book 4–6 weeks ahead for July and August stays.
  • Fall (September–October): Best balance of weather and pricing. Crowds thin after Labor Day and temperatures stay mild through September. Storm watching begins in October and is especially atmospheric from a clifftop home with a private hot tub.
  • Winter (November–February): Storm watching peaks. Many visitors specifically seek Newport in winter for dramatic wave conditions and quiet beaches. Good deals on hotels, though vacation rental homes often maintain higher rates year-round due to limited supply.
  • Spring (March–May): Gray whale migration peaks in March and April, making Newport one of the best whale watching locations on the entire coast. Quiet, good value, and mild enough to enjoy the outdoors.
Booking tip: Newport has a large number of vacation rental homes with private outdoor hot tubs alongside traditional hotels. The rental homes tend to cost more per night but offer a very different experience — private beach access, full kitchens, and outdoor hot tubs with ocean views. Both types are well represented in this guide.

  • Private outdoor hot tub or balcony tub (vacation rentals): Found at Sea Time 2 South Beach, The Captains Lookout Depoe Bay (balcony), Beverly Beach Whale Lookout (balcony), Fort Awesome Newport, Coastal Retreat with Ocean Views, The Lookout Newport, and Newport Beach House. These are generally the most private and atmospheric configurations, pairing hot tub time with direct ocean exposure.

Important Booking Tips for Newport

  • Hotels vs. vacation rental homes: Newport has both traditional hotels and private rental homes with hot tubs. Hotels (Hallmark, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express) offer lower prices and easier cancellation. Rental homes offer more privacy, full kitchens, and in many cases outdoor hot tubs with better ocean views, but typically at higher rates and with stricter cancellation policies.
  • Confirm your room type: Not all rooms in these hotels have jacuzzis. Look specifically for "Jacuzzi Suite," "Whirlpool Suite," or "Spa King" when booking a hotel to avoid a standard room.
  • Best budget hotel options: Comfort Inn Newport ($75/night, 8.0/10) and Holiday Inn Express Newport ($104/night, 8.0/10) are the most affordable confirmed jacuzzi hotels in Newport proper.
  • Whale watching timing: Gray whale migration peaks in March through May and again in December. Newport's Whale Watching Center on the Depoe Bay headlands is the best viewing point on the Oregon Coast. Many cliffside rental properties in Newport and Depoe Bay offer direct whale watching from their decks.
  • Depoe Bay for dramatic scenery: Depoe Bay is 10 miles north of Newport and offers a more dramatic headlands setting with a tiny harbor known for spouting horns. Several high-rated rental properties there include balcony or outdoor hot tubs with exceptional views.
  • Verify with the hotel or host: Some travelers report jacuzzi rooms can be substituted at check-in if not confirmed directly with the property at the time of booking.

My husband and I were there in May of 2024. I had been there before about 30 years ago and he’s never been. I was the first trip we’ve taken in over 20 years. It was amazing the service was amazing and I was just so peaceful and quiet. We loved every minute of it. We are hoping to get back to visit again in the next few years.
This was a fabulous place to stay with an amazing view and well thought out rooms. We wished we were staying more than one night so we could take full advantage of the beach access and firepit. The staff was very helpful and helped us get checked in after hours

Service was top notch. Very thoughtful staff ensuring we had just what was needed for our stay. Location can’t be beat - waking up to ocean waves crashing, quiet walk on the beach below and quick drive over to the lighthouse and tide pools. Recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in the area.

This is a very special place nestled above Agate Beach. Service was outstanding - very friendly and helpful. The unit was comfortable, equipped with everything we needed including tons of extra towels. The grounds were quite pretty with beach views and a fire pit. The entire place was reminiscent of an older, friendlier time. I highly recommend it and would stay there again.

I'm still at the hotel, but so far, I already love it! It's very clean and spacious, like a tiny apartment. Everyone is so helpful. The beach is right there, the sun is shining, and I finally stood up surfing for the first time! We brought our own food, so we don't really have to see anyone if we don't want to. Perfect getaway.
Edit: We're back, and I still love it here. This is my favorite vacation place.

My husband and I stayed here just one night on our coastal road trip. Wish we had arrived earlier in the day and enjoyed the property more. Great location, quiet, amazing ocean views from the room. The hotel stairs to the beach are out but the public ones are right next to the property outside the yard gate and were actually closer. We couldn’t see the sunset from our patio as it’s too far north but a quick walk or drive up the street would have given a great view of the sunset. We had a full kitchen, very tiny shower, queen bed (super comfy), and living room, dining table. Nice and clean too. Tesla charger on property. We will be back and staying longer next time.

We stayed here for two nights in March 2024 and really enjoyed our stay. The view was amazing and our unit was so quiet. It made the experience really relaxing. We enjoyed waking up and having our coffee at the table overlooking the ocean. Both nights we decided to cook dinner and found the kitchen to have all of the things that we needed to cook minus the food, of course. The motel is only one and a half miles from Newport and about 8 miles from Depot Bay both of which we were able to enjoy. We will definitely be back.

We did not enjoy this place. With no set rate, they were sizing us up. When we told them it was too high, they lowered the rate. It took 30 minutes of listening to the front desk lady rambling on, and having to endure her personal tour before we could even get to our room for a one-night stay. There was no safe access to the beach, due to a broken staircase! The bed has some type of covering so every time you move it makes a crackling plastic sound. The light above the bed, turns off but a tiny light never goes off- so you have light in your eyes all night long (perhaps the owner needs to spend a night in their unit to discover this). The unit itself was quite small and had an offensive smell, almost industrial or like burning oil. We cracked the window, ran up the street to get a snack, and when we returned 20 minutes later, manager had come in to close the window. Creepy! No privacy! There is another historical motor lodge in town that is much more clean, comfortable, and welcoming.

My wife, son and I stayed here for a quick birthday getaway and really enjoyed this place. Location is great, just minutes from town but quiet and quaint. Our room was in good shape, very clean and comfortable with a bed room, small kitchen nook, and living room space. And all of the staff we interacted with was very friendly and welcoming. Plus it's just a 30 second walk down the steps to the beach!

Very nice stay. Walk to beach has steep, long sets of stairs. I am sore today. The fire pit was nice. Clean rooms, pet friendly. Nice, casual, comfortable.

Are you looking for a cute hotel with great views and that small town charm?
Look no further, this place is perfect for a coastal get-away.

It has a nice outdoor fire pit, beach access and an EV charging station.

The room we stayed in had a full kitchen for cooking, a queen size bed and a couch that folds into a bed.

We enjoyed our stay.

The Agate Beach Motel provided a fantastic stay for our family. We had the two bedroom unit, and it was large, clean and very well appointed. When we booked we didn't realize how perfect the location is. Not only is there a staircase down to the beautiful beach, the property is literally next door to the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, where we were able to see seals while walking through tidepools. The staff was nice and very accommodating, they have a large library of movies to use (for free), and a great firepit overlooking the ocean where they provided free smores. We will be staying here again in the future.

Honestly, my family's stay at Starfish Point was one we'll remember fondly for the rest of our lives. The location right on the ocean along the Central Oregon Coast and next to the lighthouse was spectacular! The accommodation and rooms were breathtaking--my kids and wife literally gasped when they entered the apartment and saw the views and the furnishings. But the hospitality just wrapped everything up to make it the perfect stay for us. Will gladly make a point to go out of our way to stay here again!

If you can afford it, the starfish is a wonderful place to stay. The views are spectacular and the garden idyllic. The hosts are gracious and meet all your needs. It is secluded and yet close to town and all of its amenities. We loved our stay and highly recommend it.

Stayed from the 14th to the 18th for an anniversary vacation. The room was beautiful, with a fireplace, two little alcoves to enjoy the beach views, and a jacuzzi tub in the master. The staff was amazing and super helpful, and friendly! The starfish point is pet friendly and our two cats enjoyed lounging around all day in front of the fireplace and on the deck, and the staff were super nice about us bringing them along. They showed us some fun things to do around the town and also had a list of restaurants/stores nearby, ones that delievered and even ones that had gluten free options available! There is a firepit that the staff makes sure is going around 6:30 everynight, and the room came with a little smores kit!! As well as a deck with multiple levels and seats, with the pathway down to the beach. Before we left they gave us some lovely agates, and even put the pictures we gave them of our cats up on their board. We cannot wait to go back next year! Make sure you book here, and check out the aquarium and pirate emporium!

TLDR: Can't wait to stay longer next time. Highlights for family of 5 were the views, clean and cute accommodations, smores and nightly bonfire, lawn games, and amazing beach access.

We came from the Bay Area and stayed at Starfish Point on the way up the coast. We stayed for two nights and we really wish we had planned to stay for more! Next time. The whole family made amazing core memories and can't wait to go back. I am sure the view from pretty much any of the units is amazing, but we really enjoyed ours. The kids thought the extra little rooms (I think called the captains nooks?) were so cool and my daughter loved reading and writing up there while looking out at the ocean. I can't remember what our unit was called or what number, but it's the one that fits the most people as we have a big family. The place was spotless and looked so cute when we arrived. The walk down to the beach is so quick and easy. We spent the whole day at the beach and loved that we could stay out on the huge stretch of sand or play by the river periods so much to explore for the kids for sure. A huge highlight of the trip was the nightly bonfire and we really appreciated the complimentary s'mores the first night. The lawn games and area for the kids to run around was also fantastic. When I asked my 10-year old daughter what she liked about staying there, one of the things she added was that they were so welcoming and friendly. So true! Also, there were a lot of board games and DVDs in the office. We didn't make use of them because our stay with short but we plan on taking advantage next time. Dreaming about the next visit. Thank you, Starfish Point staff!

There's not enough good things to say. It's a wonderful place to stay. It's very quiet and has a great view of the ocean. They are very pet friendly. Warm blankets and towels for my pups. They thoroughly enjoyed the stay, too. The staff is terrific with many helpful suggestions.
The room was outfitted with great care and attention to detail. It was very clean and well cared for.

I never post reviews, but I had to write one since I cannot believe how amazing our visit was. We stayed in May 2024 on our honeymoon. We rode motorcycles from Montana, down to the Grand Canyon, and up to this luxury condo. We didn't even get "the best" condo, I honestly didn't think it could get better. We loved our stay, and I'm hoping to return soon! What an amazing place to stay. SO CLEAN, FRIENDLY, POLITE, AND WELCOMING! Please never get rid of your outdoor games, we loved them!
They also have a employee who will always and forever be "Employee of the month", see pictures for employee fireplace photo.

BEWARE!!! These people are Bait and Switch Scammers. I called in from Surprise AZ to rent an ocean front Condo. I was told what the rooms were and how much they were. I specifically told the lady at Starfish I want the best room they had available. She told me her best condos were Condo #5 & Condo #6. She then stated that #6 was booked but #5 was available. I SAID ILL TAKE IT. So that is what I thought I was booked for and what I paid for. I then Traveled over 21 hours driving and 1300+ miles to get to the hotel only to find out that I was not booked for the Premier Condo but booked for the Deluxe which is what I wanted or what I was told. I was then blamed that this was all my fault and that I should have better read my conformation and looked at the price. To be honest I did not even look at the price as I just spoke to this lady for 20 mins and did not even think I had to double check what we just discussed and agreed to. However I did look at the conformation and is shows LUXURY Condo!!! So That is what I was expecting and thought I was Booking!!! It all looked correct to me. I would have never know what units were the premier or deluxe condo if not getting this info from the lady at Starfish. I was told my room was #5 which we confirmed was the PREMIER ocean front condo. Well we arrived to find out that they are trying to stick us in a deluxe condo #4 and not the Premium Condo #5 like I booked and wanted. We were only at this Hotel for 10 mins after being told this was ALL our fault and told to take the Deluxe room or leave. I then told her NO PROBLEM. Please refund my money and we will find another place to stay. So not only did they scam me on the room they refused to refund my money and expect to keep it for NO SERVICES received by me. So they kept my money and still rented the condo to other people. That is a Scam. Also be VERY AWARE that these condos from what I was able to see are DISGUSTING, Filthy and smelled EXTREMELY Bad of Dog Urine and Piss!!!! The couch looked 100 years old and was full of animal hair whether it was a cat or dog I don't know but it was NASTY!!! I would not EVER Recommend this place to stay and all their reviews are NOT real!!! The SO CALLED ocean view is a JOKE. You can go less than 1000 feet right up the street to the Best Western + and get FULL OCEAN front views for a 10th of the cost and the rooms were BEAUTIFUL. I stayed there for 7 days. So please beware that this place will lie to your face, blame you for their mistake and then Keep your money!!! Who gets $1,500+ for doing Nothing and providing NO & BAD SERVICE??? I would not have traveled for 2 days, 1,300 miles and 21 hours in a car to a hotel that I did not know what I was getting. They Scammed me and then tried to keep my money as well. SCAM SCAM SCAM. Lastly they Lied to my Credit Card company and made 100% False Statements. Well I got my money back anyways from my American Express even with their Fraudulent statements and Lies. These people are GARBAGE!!! I would find another place to stay. RUN RUN RUN from these scumbag scam artists.

Just came back again for the 4th time. This is our favorite place at the beach by far. Staff is always pleasant, and the view has been great in every unit we've been in.

Fantastic all-around experience. The view from the huge windows and balcony of the beach and the waves crashing against the forested cliffs was amazing. Before we even arrived Barrie the manager quickly and kindly helped us clear up a booking issue, and the kiddos loved the free 'rental' library of board games. The units feel large and were very clean, the beds/pillows were all quite comfortable, and we appreciated the full kitchen. Beach access is easy if you don't mind a flight of plank stairs, and we loved how close to town and the aquarium it is while the location itself and the beach feels secluded and special.

We just completed our family vacation in Newport. Our family of 12 (9 adults and 3 kids) and 3 dogs stayed at Starfish Point for a week. We rented four of the six condos. It was amazing! The property was beautiful, the view of the ocean from every window and balcony was incredible and the staff was top notch. Every condo was equipped with what you need, the staff was there to answer questions, they lit the firepit every night for us and Matt gave every one of us a bag of Agates to take home. We didn't have to worry about random people coming on to the property or using the stairs or path to get down to the beach. It is all private. I can't recommend this gem enough. We will definitely be back.

Outstanding beach views, wonderful amenities in a very helpful and nice crew. They host evening fires in the fire pit in the beautiful yard overlooking the ocean. The rooms are fantastic, and while all of them have ocean views a few of them stand out above the others. Nice little private beach access directly down to the beachfront. My wife and I were married down there It's fantastic. Great place to visit and we will return.

I want to tell everyone about this place, but selfishly I want to tell nobody about this place. It is truly a one of a kind, GEM of a property! We found it by chance, passing through and wanted to make plans to extend our stay so we could remain there for more than one night. Unfortunately the place was booked, and that's often the case. The one night we did stay, what a treat! Everything that makes someone comfortable, relaxed and rejuvenated this has!! Doesn't matter that it gets booked and full, you feel like you have your own serenity and peace. It's quiet, you hear the birds, the ocean, the wind and true nature all around.

You don't need to bring hardly anything besides clothes. The layout is wonderful. It's actually perfect for either a person wanting to get away alone and refresh, a couple or a family. Not many places can meet all of those needs and go so far beyond. The windows that let the fresh ocean breeze in, is magical. Especially when soaking in the jacuzzi tub. The little coffee spots upstairs and down are so quaint. We never heard anyone else. The garden spot with a campfire and s'mores every night was perfect for unwinding and connecting.

There is so much love put into this place, it radiates. The hospitality was genuinely down to earth. Neil the owner and Mario the manager welcomed us like old friends, sat by the fire with us and chatted a bit, give my daughter a bag of Walt's agates that she's still excited about. She forgot her stuffed sheep she sleeps with at night and they called to ask where to send it back when they cleaned the room.

Also, the path down to the beach is so well thought out. It's sturdy and safe, yet has little resting spots and benches if need be. Also at the top a storage bin for kids sand toys and things to take down to the water. Another example of how over the years so much thought and love has been put into this place for how it could be experience the best by anyone.

I can't say enough good! I want to go back but for a week. I hope the charm of Starfish Point remains. This is an unforgettable place! We travel a lot and nothing compares to what they have there.

I feel grateful we got to experience the place and can't wait to get back!

We did a couples getaway in April, just before the busy warm & sunny season, and were able to have our dog stay with us! The management were super helpful and friendly, met the friendly owner who happened to be visiting that month, and had a wonderful weeklong stay with views we will never forget. We actually enjoyed the storms, and spent the non-stormy days visiting some familiar places around Newport. The bed upstairs is incredibly comfortable (medium-firm & supportive), and the jacuzzi tub is SO roomy for 2 adults. If we could have stayed another week, we would have, but I'll just have to make it an annual stay now 🙂

What a hidden gem! We just stayed there to celebrate our anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place! It was quiet, relaxing, beautifully maintained, comfortable beds and linens, the staff was amazing, they also have a cute little shop in case you forgot something with a little area that has kitchen spices and supplies that you can use and you can’t beat the views! Soaking in the 2 person bathtub each day was the icing on the cake! I could go on and one but you should really experience it for yourself. We will definitely be back!

Starfish point has been such a great place to stay. Wen we last visited it was a blast Starfish has a great place to stay over the years. Starfish Point has an extremely kind and help full staff. Another great feature of Starfish is the fantastic views, this resort has many beautiful views of the beach and ocean from their new deck and the have great views from their courtyard. Starfish has many fun things for the young kids too such as free s'mores every night by the campfire, free movies that you can check out, and free beach toys. The units are very pleasing inside with many places to sit and the giant Jacuzzi bath tubs. Starfish Point is a ten out of ten, its a great place to stay and I would recommend visiting to all your friends and family.

Visited with a friend and their dog recently… and our condo absolutely blew us away! We could literally see two bald eagles on the beach from our bedroom window! We also were visiting during an awful wind and ice storm, and the staff was kind enough to let us stay past our check out time to let the roads melt a bit more! Even offered us another room for that night if we couldn’t get back. We will be coming back soon and I could not recommend this amazing place more.
