Pismo Beach Hot Tub Hotels: Quick Guide

Quick reference for booking a Jacuzzi suite in Pismo Beach, Avila Beach, Morro Bay, Arroyo Grande, and San Luis Obispo, California

Best Time to Visit

  • Fall (September–October): The best season on the Pismo Beach. Summer fog retreats, temperatures warm into the 70s and low 80s, and crowds thin after Labor Day. This is when Pismo Beach, Avila Beach, and Morro Bay are at their most pleasant. Good availability at most properties, with pricing dropping from summer peaks. A particularly strong season for wine tasting in the Edna Valley and Arroyo Grande areas.
  • Summer (June–August): Peak tourist season with the highest demand and pricing. Coastal morning fog is common but burns off by midday. SeaVenture Beach Hotel, Dolphin Bay Resort, and Sycamore Mineral Springs see strongest summer demand. Book 4–6 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Pismo Beach Pier and Avila Beach are busiest during this time.
  • Spring (March–May): Mild weather with wildflower blooms on the hillsides and increasing sunshine. Monarch butterfly season at Pismo Beach Butterfly Grove extends into late February and early March. Good availability at most properties with moderate pricing. An excellent season for the hot springs at Sycamore Mineral Springs.
  • Winter (November–February): Cool and occasionally rainy, with dramatic storm-watching conditions along the coast. Monarch butterflies arrive at the Pismo Beach Butterfly Grove from November through February. Lowest pricing of the year at most properties. A quieter, more atmospheric season for soaking in a private hot tub while watching winter waves.
Booking tip: The Pismo Beach is a popular road trip stop halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on Highway 101. Friday and Sunday nights tend to see elevated demand as travelers use Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo as overnight stops. For the best rates, book mid-week stays when possible. Sycamore Mineral Springs is the only natural hot springs property in the region and books well ahead for weekends year-round.

Jacuzzi Configurations on the Pismo Beach

  • Private balcony hot tub (signature Pismo Beach experience): A two-person soaking tub on a private outdoor balcony or deck, often with ocean or hillside views. Found at SeaVenture Beach Hotel (two-person hot tub on the balcony overlooking Pismo Beach sand) and Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort (natural mineral hot springs tubs on private hillside balconies). This is the most distinctive configuration in the region and a primary reason many guests book these properties.
  • Bathroom-installed spa tub: Private whirlpool or soaking tub set within the hotel bathroom. Found at Edgewater Inn and Suites, Ascot Suites Morro Bay, The Agrarian Hotel, Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa, Garden Street Inn, and Sycamore Mineral Springs (some rooms).
  • In-bedroom Jacuzzi: Soaking tub placed directly in the sleeping area. Found at Masterpiece Hotel, Inn at Morro Bay, Beachwalker Inn and Suites, Inn at Avila Beach, and Lamplighter Inn and Suites.
  • Natural mineral hot springs (unique to this region): Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort is the only property in the dataset that uses naturally occurring geothermal mineral water in its private tubs. Important Booking Tips for the Pismo Beach

  • Confirm the exact room type: Hot tub and Jacuzzi rooms are specific categories at Pismo Beach properties. Look for "Jacuzzi Suite," "Spa Tub Room," "Balcony Hot Tub," or "Mineral Springs Room" when booking. At SeaVenture and Sycamore Mineral Springs, the balcony hot tub is the signature feature but not available in every room type.
  • Sycamore Mineral Springs pricing: The $999/night listing reflects peak-season pricing for premium rooms. Sycamore Mineral Springs offers a range of room types and rates depending on the season and room category. Off-peak midweek stays are significantly more affordable. Check for current availability and pricing directly, as rates can vary widely.
  • Road trip positioning: Pismo Beach sits roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on Highway 101. Friday and Sunday nights see elevated demand from road trippers using the area as an overnight stop. For the best rates, book mid-week stays. If you are passing through on a longer trip, Morro Bay and Arroyo Grande offer similar coastal beauty with lower pricing than Pismo Beach proper.
  • Morro Bay vs. Pismo Beach: Both are coastal towns, but they offer very different experiences. Pismo Beach is more of a classic beach town with a pier, sand, and boardwalk atmosphere. Morro Bay is quieter, centered on the fishing harbor and Morro Rock, with more of a small-town feel. Morro Bay properties also tend to be less expensive than comparable Pismo Beach hotels.
  • Pet-friendly picks: Inn at Morro Bay, The Agrarian Hotel, Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa, and Garden Street Inn all accept pets. Confirm size limits and fees before booking.
  • Free breakfast included: Masterpiece Hotel, Ascot Suites Morro Bay, The Agrarian Hotel, Garden Street Inn, and Lamplighter Inn and Suites all include free breakfast. Wine and Roses Hotel (Lodi, different region) also includes breakfast. At Pismo Beach pricing levels, this represents meaningful daily savings.

There are resorts, and then there is the Dolphin Bay Resort. Over my years, of which are plenty, I have stayed at many fine resorts, and while most of them had great service and beautiful grounds, the staff at the Dolphin Bay Resort make this place extra special.

Of course, I have had the benefit of receiving fine service at a number of fine and expensive resorts at which I have stayed over my life, but I have never actually encountered staff of this nature. You see, at most places, staff assists you and they try to ensure that the stay is pleasant, (if not amazing when such times occur); but you never really get to know them as people. It's a passing, if you will. You never really feel a sense of belonging.

This is not the same for the Dolphin Bay Resort because there you feel like a family member of those there to ensure that your stay is amazing. When I placed my reservation, I met Kyle. Kyle is a wonderful young man who shared my enthusiasm for an event that had to be perfect. Kyle not only listened to my needs; but he went out of his way to ensure that my suite would be the perfect suite for my event, and it really was the perfect suite. Not simply because it was beautiful, (because it was beautiful); but mostly because of the energy Kyle took to not only listen to my story, but to then take that information to match me with the perfect suite, and it was the perfect suite thanks to Kyle and the rest of the staff at the Dolphin Bay Resort over the course of our stay.

As I scheduled the reservation significantly in advance of our stay, I wanted to confirm some of the particulars. It was at this time that I met Cody, who not only assured me that everything would be perfect; but he was also able to extend our reservation as a result of a late change in our travel plans. We would later meet Cody in person, who was just as amazing as he was when he accommodated our late change in our travel plans.

Upon arriving at the Resort, we were met by Jay, a great bellhop beaming with smiles and kindness. I thereafter finally met Kyle in person, who once again assured me that everything would be handled to perfection, and I mean everything, and which it was.

Later during the stay, we met Delaney, a wonderfully charming young woman who we also spent time getting to know. We also met Patrick, a delightful fellow who was always accommodating and always ensured that our vacation was going amazingly well.

In addition to getting to know the staff, I also got to meet their supervisor, Lisa, who was also remarkable and accommodating, ensuring that the main event planned out by Kyle would go as planned. Kyle even took time while he was off to ensure that the main event went according to plan. This, my friends, is the very definition of commitment to your craft.

Now back to how you are treated like family. I got to know each and every person with whom we interacted. I do not mean like a "Hey, do you live locally?" sort of thing, I mean we got to actually
know about them. We learned about their lives and their families; their commitment their jobs and their futures. While their stories are theirs to tell, not mine, it was their vulnerability to share about themselves that made each of them individually special and also made the stay feel more like you were staying with family instead of being tended to by superficially trained and robotic staff only appearing concerned with what their tip might be.

The staff at the Dolphin Bay Resort endeavor to make everyone who stays at the Dolphin Bay Resort feel special, which they all did effortlessly because they were real people with real lives and a real commitment to ensuring that when you stay with them, you are staying with family, without the family drama, of course.

Thank you Kyle, Cody, Jay, Delaney, Patrick, and Lisa, (and to any other staff member I may have forgotten in this list) for the most amazing stay.

I am happy to update my review to 5 star - perfection!

You can definitely tell that things have changed.

Everyone went above and beyond to make sure our stay was excellent! Not one problem ... sheer perfection!

DB a lovely get away. It allows me to escape a very stressful career and leave it behind while I'm there. It's intoxicating.

Try to get a room with an ocean front. Sleeping with the doors open to hear the waves is heaven on earth. The two bedroom ocean front has a long balcony that extends from the living room to the master bedroom. So, if you're relaxing in the living room, you have the ocean. Go to sleep with the lullabies from the waves. I left completely distressed on a high.

PS - thank you for your wonderful service Erica and Julissa. Everyone is great here, but Julissa is their secret gem. I always ask for her as she is absolutely the gem that made me give it another try. The personalized note in your room upon arrival (every time, not just this time) is a beautiful touch get things started on the right foot! Check out my review of Lido! Their restaurant and bar!

Mary and her staff provided attention to every detail of my daughter’s wedding this weekend. Delicious plated dinners, great appetizers and a welcoming bartender. The perfect set up of all the venues and coordination with the vendors was fantastic. Every aspect of this perfect event was seamless. And I can’t praise the DJ enough. Thank you so much to everyone at Dolphin Bay for making the BARR wedding so much fun. A. Bohl

My wife, myself and youngest daughter stayed here recently. I had always wanted to stay here because I heard so many great things. They did not disappoint! Thank you to the management and staff for welcoming us with thoughtful in room additions for our young daughter and a genuine Happy Birthday surprise in the refrigerator. The room was quiet, comfortable and private. The room service was amazing and fresh, the spa was beautiful and refreshing, the restaurant was delicious and the view is pretty much second to none. Thank you, Dolphin Bay for an incredible stay!

Attended just the restaurant there, Lido. Beautiful place! If even just to see the beautiful view and have a glass of bubbly. Usually the food is great but this time our omelet was very dry, and just , "ok". . Hardly worth the money I paid for the whole meal, plus a tip!

This is what a resort should be! The rooms are well appointed, my suite came with a fireplace and a balcony! The views of the ocean from my room were spectacular!
As a Flight Attendant, I have the opportunity to stay in many hotels! This room had one of the MOST COMFORTABLE beds that I have ever slept in!
The staff was also very accommodating!

We live in Isla Vista and came up for the weekend to relax and escape Deltopia. Such an incredible experience! We were on the ground floor with a large, spacious suite and ocean views. They were so accommodating to our dogs, staff even brought them their own beds and dog treats! Valet was always quick and professional, restaurant food was delicious and service was always great, we were able to order drinks at the pool and have them brought to us. A bit more kid friendly than expected for a higher end hotel and spa, and we hit a few bumps with our reservation but staff were so quick to accommodate and make things right. Overall a great stay. We cannot wait to make this our regular weekend vacation spot, such a great experience!

Room 251 the Sunset Suite is one heck of a room. Beautiful and cozy but not perfect. It needs a microwave to heat some snacks and the bed needs some type of anchor because it really bangs against the wall when you are having a good time. I feel sorry for the neighbors. Staff are very friendly. They brought champagne ever night and even cookies. The pool area was slightly disappointing due to the jacuzzi not making bubbles and not really hot enough for me. There's also alot of kids and if that's a concern maybe look elsewhere. In all a great experience and hotel. Oh I forgot one more thing. There's a beautiful area down at the beach. It's a slightly rough and wouldn't recommend if you have mobility issues walking stairs and uneven terrain.

Just stayed 2 nights at this place, with my wife, 5 year old son, and dog. It was magical. We got the beachfront suite on ground level, and it was so much bigger than the photos show. Honestly, it was the little things that put the place over the top. The nice dog bed, the rubber duck in the jacuzzi tub, and the bubble bath mix is really a nice touch. We cracked the door open at night and was lullabied by the crashing waves. The room service foods from Marisol is pretty good, and the location was great. Super friendly staff. I almost booked the Dolphin next door because I didn't think this place was going to be nice enough - was totally wrong.

The lobby feels luxurious with beautiful views & holiday decorations. The rooms are nice with a fireplace, desk, sofa, balcony. The room initially has a periodic whistling sound so I called the front desk they sent maintenance up to fix it. The location has breathtaking ocean cliff views, nice landscaping and can walk down to a public beach. The restaurant has good service, great food. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I stayed at The Cliffs to celebrate our anniversary. We typically do not spend this much for a hotel, so this was supposed to be a real treat for us. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed with the overall experience, which I why I gave a 2 star rating. The front desk ultimately switched us to a panoramic view room when my wife asked. Our original room overlooked the pool, umm..and the roof. You could see the ocean, but could only hear the pool waterfall and kids at the pool. They were kind enough to move us to a room with a better view.
The property as a whole is dated and needs a facelift. There were several little things that were also kind of disappointing. For instance, there were no clean towels available at the pool. There were also several dirty towels lying around the pool, which left the area feeling uncared for.
We ate twice at the restaurant and both times the staff was apologizing for taking so long. Lots of apologies. That’s not good. The food was average at best.
The location is fantastic! And the happy hour wine tasting was certainly a nice touch!
I don’t take joy in writing a less than stellar review. But in doing, so I hope that the items reviewed can be corrected for future guests.
The total for two nights and associated taxes, etc., was almost $1000($992). For us, the cost didn’t match the experience/quality. At that price, we were hoping for something much more elevated. If we decide to return to Pismo, we would likely stay at a different property.

My husband and I got married here in September! It has an amazing view, attentive staff, and awesome amenities! When doing a wedding at The Cliffs, you are given access to a wedding coordinator. Her name is Anna and she is absolutely amazing! She was the lynchpin of our wedding. She helped coordinate the schedule, the decorations, the seating, the food, and all the little details. She worked closely with all our vendors, and she was always there when we needed her. She even helped pin together my dress multiple times after taking damage on the dance floor! Anna made the whole process so much easier for us, and we can't thank her enough for making the whole wedding come together perfectly! The Cliffs was the perfect wedding destination and will definitely be a place we'll be visiting in the future 🙂

I absolutely love this hotel when you first walk into the lobby it beautiful and clean and has this very amazing smell. The front desk workers make you feel comfortable and explain everything in detail. I’ve stayed here one time before and my experience was okay but this time around it was better than okay. Let get to the room we got a standard two bed no view room as we were just staying one night and we weren’t even in the room half the time but it was still so nice and clean the beds are comfortable you don’t wanna get up in the morning the hotel is clean the pool area is clean and has the best view I love the restaurant the fries and ranch are to die for and the strawberry margarita was the best margarita I’ve had. We took a little one night trip because are dog passed away last week and we needed to get out of the house and it was so peaceful at this hotel we enjoyed and will be coming back again and again number one hotel I’ve stayed at here in pismo and i vacation a lot. Even the manager handled a problem at night very well and I appreciate that just wonderful beautiful hotel. 😊
